Title: Stormtrooper Engineering Pilot
Post by: DSJ™ on October 6, 2005, 10:26 PM
I received this Stormtrooper engineering pilot in the mail today.  8)

The bottom of the foot is numbered 12.

Now you are probably going to ask, what is an engineering pilot? Phhhhht! Like I know, I had to look this up on the net.  :-[

Have a looky at the links and it will explain it for you, very good reading on the steps of creating a figure.  8)

First Shots or Engineering Pilots (http://www.cincitoymuseum.com/firstshot.html)

What I like about this being number 12 is the Stormtrooper was released on a 12 back card. It will display nicely with my 12 back Takara Stormtrooper.  8)

A big Thanks to Incom4.  (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/froehlich/a057.gif)

Congrats on the pickup Dale, it looks to be a great piece. Too bad, the Stormtrooper wasn't the 12th figure of the 12-back series, that would add another nice touch to the number on his foot.  ;)

Dale,

Congrats.  Curious, I don't see anything out of the ordinary on this piece other than the 12.  What other distinguishing characteristics does this piece have from the regular piece?

Dale,

Congrats.  Curious, I don't see anything out of the ordinary on this piece other than the 12.  What other distinguishing characteristics does this piece have from the regular piece?

The figures are almost the same, there are 3 things I noticed that distinguish the regular Stormtrooper to this.

1): There seems to be a bit more flash where the seams are conected in some areas, not as smooth as the final product.

2): The pegs for the footholes are different, the EP has a circle around the hexagonal shape and about 3/4's of bottom of the foot area is raised a bit. Not as flush as the regular figure.

3): The date stamp or the area of the COO is different on both of them.

The only other Stormtrooper I have to compare with the date stamp is my carded Takara version.  :-\

Engineering Pilot (left). Regular Figure (right).

When I read "Stormtrooper Engineering Pilot" I was thinking it was some kind of unproduced figure, some kind of cross between a regular Stormtrooper and a TIE Pilot or something... LOL.

Nice addition to the collection, Dale  :D

Wow! It's hard to believe you can still learn something new about the vintage line. That's the kind of detail I don't know if I'll ever get into.

May I ask how you aquired it?

Nice. Though I was hoping it might be one of those, got as part of a lot where the person didn't know what they had in it, type of things. I love those stories.
