Saga '02-'04 / Re:Is it just my area?

If its terrible in Ohio, then its absolutely pathetic in Massachusetts.  The only new figs I've seen are Obi Acklay and Dooku rehash on two seperate occasions at the same Walmart.  I've resorted to ordering online (a damaged case from newforce and the "one of every figure" club at kebco.  I'm tired of running around and wasting my time.  This way, the figs are delivered right to my work. ;D

Episode 1 / Re:The Original "Midnight Madness"
« on: March 6, 2003, 12:31 PM »
You won't believe this, but I didn't do the "Midnight Madness."

Same here, only I was a hardcore collector.  I was in Niagara Falls with the girlfriend (now wife) on vacation.  I was still in school, so I really didn't have any money.  I remember watching the news and them reporting on it.  We went to Walmart the next day and there they were.  I was mad I didn't have any money.  That problem was solved when my that years tax return came.  I think most of it went to Episode I toys.

;D Elliott ;D  I do that too when I don't know actors names...too funny

I knew his name but most people really don't know lesser known actors names so its just easier to say Elliot from ET, etc.  That way maybe someone will say "No schitzet, that kid from ET is still doing movies?  Damn, I might want to check that out."

Now if I said Henry Thomas (Elliot) or Sean Patrick Flanary (young IJ), most people will say "Who?.  That movie must be crap.  I'm not going to watch that."

So from now on, whenever Mikey D gives one of his reviews he's going to name actors by their well know roles.

 ;)

Scott, I may also have to try "you pick the movie this time and I'll pick the movie next time" way that you and your wife do.  I asked my wife if she wanted to see Daredevil, she had no interest in it, I had no interest in her chick flick that she wanted to see, so we didn't go to the movies that night, she farted around on the computer and I watched some crappy movie on tv.  What a way to spend a Saturday night  ::)  Maybe this might alleviate that problem

Other Collectibles / Re:Unleashed Pictures New Figures
« on: March 6, 2003, 07:12 AM »
I wasn't going to collect this line, but once I saw Vader, I had to have him.  After that, I needed all of them.  I'm caught up to Mace and Dooku (still looking for Leia and redux Vader).

That being said, I love all the new ones.  I think Sidious is going to be my new favorite.  Luke I like, even the "Jello" slashing of his lightsaber.  Obi Wan is good too, but I wonder why they didn't put him in a more dramatic pose.  The only reason I can think of is to counter the headstrong nature of Anakin's Unleashed.

I hope this line continues for awhile and I can't wait to see Han and Boba.

The most recent movie I've seen is Suicide Kings starring Christopher Walken, Dennis Leary, Elliot from ET, Young Indiana Jones, Jay Mohr and Darlene's boyfriend  from Roseanne.

I borrowed it from a co-worker and have never heard about it.  It was pretty good with a few twists and turns.  Basically the premise is Elliots sister gets kidnapped and to get her back, he and his friends (Mohr, YIJ, etc.) kidnap Walken's retired mob boss.  They figured he has the connections to locate the sister.  Even though Walken is tied up, he manages to up stage the kidnappers and keep them second quessing.  I won't spoil the ending, but it's definitely worth a rental.

JD Sports Forum! / Re:Alright SPORTS fans, name your teams!
« on: March 4, 2003, 08:30 AM »
I was born and raised in South Jersey but have been living the last eight years in Massachusetts, so my picks reflect that.

NFL
-New England Patriots - The 2001 Super Bowl champions
-Philadelphia Eagles - The 2003 Super Bowl champions (The Vikings can have it the following year, Scott  ;) )

NHL
-The Broad Street Bullies Philadelphia Flyers

MLB
-The Old Town Team Boston Red Sox

NCAA
-Michigan Wolverines.  I've been a fan ever since they beat Seton Hall for the Bball championship back in the day (I was in 7th grade).  I've actually visited friends who went there and saw the campus.  Unfortunely the football team was away that weekend so I didn't get to see them play live.

I don't really care for the NBA, WNBA, or MLS, so I don't have a favorite team.

I'll also throw out my favorite Nascar driver, even though I know there aren't a lot of fans here.  The real Gordon...Robby, driver of the #31 Cingular Wireless Monte Carlo.  He doesn't get a lot of respect, but he can just about drive anything there is and he's one cocky SOB, so that's why I like him.

http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/100_greatest/62184/episode.jhtml

Its actually a top 100 list.  And I believe it originally aired before The Osbornes hit TV.  I also think that the list was derived from picks by artists.  Every artist would do his list and the votes would be tallied based on how many lists the artist was on.

I actually have no problem with the top 5.  I knew Zeppelin, ACDC, Metallica and Black Sabbath would be in the top 5 and Zeppelin would be #1 (There's no way they couldn't be, they've influenced way too many people)

Without checking the list Scott, I believe AIC was ranked somewhere around 35.

I also think the term "hard rock" is taken a little loosely in this list.  It encompasses everything from punk (The Clash, Sex Pistols, etc) to heavy metal (Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc) to "hair bands" (Crue).
