The Vintage Collection / Re: TVC will fail...
« on: September 30, 2010, 04:31 AM »
I find  the selection for the Revenge wave a little underwhelming because I have a lot of these figures already but I try to remember what it was like when I first got back into collecting. I was always hoping they'd repack old figures that I missed out on, if I was starting collecting now, this would be a great start to a Revenge of the Sith collection.

I guess any money I've saved by not picking up everyone from this wave will be lost on the Jedi one, every figure in the wave plus extra Gammoreans is going to cost me a packet.

I really hope this line doesn't fail, I think it has some of the best looking figures I've seen in while and the lack of extra plastic in the packaging has got to be a little better for the environment.

I picked this up at the weekend for £45.

63
That could be pretty interesting, although these geonosis sets usually retail at £26.00 over here, so I've yet to purchase one.

64
Does anyone know, which sculpt the R2 that comes with this set uses?

If they ever sell this version of Slave 1 on it's own, I would probably pick it up.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Realistic/Movie Style Clone Wars figures

I've been cherry picking the animated line, some of them just looked to cool to resist, like the Talz for example, but I would still buy realistic versions of clone wars characters. I think Obi Wan and Anakin in their Orto Plutonia gear would make great figures if they did this.

Finally found the alien variant  Bespin guard... just the ugnaught with the tusks to find now... I'm sure he'll turn up eventually.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Better "Toys" Vintage or Modern?
« on: August 10, 2010, 04:59 AM »
Vintage was a better toy line. Because I liked to be able to put Chewie in the X-Wing. If you have to ask why I would want to, I wonder if you were ever really a kid.

I guess I'm still a kid, one of the first things I seem to do when I get a vehicle is the Chewie test... usually the results are disappointing but occasionally...  in the case of Grievous's fighter...

I really hope this item hits retail in the UK. I've been waiting for that turret to get packed with some decent figures and at last it's happened. I agree with the comments about K-3PO though, I never thought I 'd end up army building him... but it looks like it's heading that way.

Although Threepio is a bit too short and the finish is off, it''s kind of interesting to me. I like the removable panels, particularly the one on his back that Chewie works on in the cell.

I like the ewok throne version, but the lack of detail on the hands has always bugged me.

I guess the bottom line is I still don't have my ultimate version of this character.

I swore I didn't need them, but I ended up getting the cloud car pilot and the at at commander and I'm glad I did. The level of detail on this wave continues to amaze me.

That cloud car pilot is tiny though!  C3-P0 and him are in a league of their own. I've been pondering a head swap with a Dak for an extra cloud car pilot, as they've both got a skull cap of sorts.

What a great vehicle! I'm still a little in awe of it after a week!

All I could think of while putting it together was the one I made a s a kid with Luke hanging from my dad's dental floss dispenser.

i caught hell for that one.

I don't think there is a large scale vehicle I could resist buying. These things are amazing!

That magna guard is the star of the wave for me but I think Cody looks great on the vintage card If I was a carded collector I'd be snapping him up. I held off buying this version of him as I liked the previous one, and went to some lengths to ensure I got him... but maybe now is the time.

In some of the magna guard images the energy effect looks like the right color, but on this new image and the loose sample it looks red. Which do you think the final production piece will have?

I noticed that too. Considering this is a final packaged sample, my best gues is that the energy effect will look red. :(

It's a shame if it is. I saw a packaged image with the correct color as well, but it didn't have the UGH look that this latest sample has. I know there's not supposed to be any difference between UGH and non UGH but maybe in this case.... here's hoping anyway.
