Whew! barely got my order in with minutes to spare. It took me 27 minutes of trying to get in.
I was kinda of worried about pre-ordering today due to alot of people having the day off, and it falling on a Monday, but it all worked out.
I'm hoping/looking forward to a slight slow down, with just one more Jedi or Hero, and the SDCC exclusive.
What's the SDCC exclusive?

I don't think it has been revealed for sure yet, but Sideshow has dropped a bunch of hints that they will be offering a 12" SDCC Exclusive figure.
The leading rumor I keep seeing is a "Sith Eyes" Variant of Anakin or a "Old Guy" Variant of Obi-Wan (same figure as before, but with a new head).

As of now, the lead speculation is that it will be a Sith Eyes Anakin. From all the hints, and the fact that usually the SDCC SSC Exclusive is some kind of retool/variant of an existing figure, that's my best guess. It would make the most sense, since it would be a simple eye repaint, some tattering/burn damage on the clothing, and knowing they have SDCC coming up produce a slight retool of the existing head cast to give him more of a "messed up" look. Remember the old adage "Why make one, when you can make two for the price of one".
If memory serves me right, I believe Dave Myatt said somewhere that it won't be a Han or Luke, or any figure in current 1/4 format. Take what you will from it, but here is a little interesting tidbit: (sixth question from the bottom)

Well i woul dlike to throw my name in the hat for someone who needs help getting one. I can never afford to make it out there so if anyone get me one it wopuld be greatly appreciated. My guess it will be something cool that we will all want instead of something simple.

Well with my luck I would go there to get the SDCC exclusive and by the time I'd get in line it would be sold out. Just like with Jorg Sacul and the Darth Vader C# exclusives. :)

From what I hear from people who have purchased SDCC SSC Exclusives, is that you pre-order on their site, and pick it up at the con. Only the person who ordered it can pick it up.
IMPO this is the ideal way to do Exclusives, oh an of course limit it to 1-2 per person. Hint, hint Gentle Giant? :-\

Well if they do make a SDCC exclusive hopefully they will do what they did last year and that was they made like 20% or so of the edition size available for pre order on their site to people who are not attending the con.

In the collectible action-figure arena, Sideshow Collectibles of Westlake Village, Calif., is continuing with an aggressive push to expand its Star Wars line for 2006. Brant Bridges, production manager at Sideshow, told SCI FI Wire: "We did the Premium Format line and more recently introduced the 12-inch line, and we have been rabidly focused on it. We've broken the line into five sub-collections called Order of the Jedi, Heroes of the Rebellion, Lords of the Sith, Military and Scum and Villains. Because the line has been so successful, we are looking to branch out in ways collectors should be very happy about. Star Wars is where we will venture into unique body-shape figures—some of the creatures, the droids and the stormtroopers—we are going to tackle them."
Revealing their announcement lineup, Bridges added: "We have Mace Windu and Empire Han Solo here at Toy Fair. Then we are shipping the first 10 figures this year. We are planning a San Diego [Comic-Con International] exclusive figure, which was going to be Kit Fisto, the alien Jedi from the last two prequels, but reaction was so strong to Luke and Anakin, we decided an entirely unique character would upset collectors. For the [Comic-] Con exclusive, it will be a legitimate variation on an existing character."
So, at least that is more confirmation that the SDCC figure will just be a variation and probably strengthens the "Sith Eyes" Anakin rumors a bit...

Sideshow has confirmed with us that this will be the case for the 2006 SDCC exclusive 12" Star Wars figure as well. You'll be able to order it ahead of time and then just pick it up at the show at the Sideshow booth - nice and neat.
They did not have any info on if any of the exclusives would be held back to sell to people who couldn't attend the show though... :-\

Hmm, interesting. That's a pretty good guess.
Considering no one knows for sure what figure it is, I'm amazed how many people are sure it's Sith Eye'd Ani. I'm not going to confirm or deny, but there are a few other things it could be... Smiley Face Kit? Mustafar Obi-Wan? Endor Poncho luke... Carbonite Prisoner Han... TPM Mace (with proper Ep I belt)... Bad Dream Ani...
What I will say is there is a good chance I might have listed the figure above... But you can never tell with me. ;)

So far it seems SSC is pretty strict on the 1 per person on the Exclusives rule. I am sure they will stick to it on this one as well.

I hope i can find someone who can pick up an extra for me. I hate when exclusives are only for a specific show or region. I wouldnt mind as much if they were at all the cons.

It looks like the rumour was true - the SDCC Exclusive will be Anakin / Vader Sith Apprentice. I'm curious to see how much they modify the basic Anakin besides using "Sith Eyes", perhaps some "battle damage"?

I hope I can snag one online (without having to attend the convention), otherwise I'll wait and go without it or see if they simmer in price on the bay...
I doubt that will happen anytime soon, the price for the SS 12" Luke is outrageous.

I dunno...something about those pictures makes me think that I will save $60.00 bucks. I think it's the angle of the jaw but I am just not sure what it is that struck me as "off". Very cool that those that can't go to SDCC have a chance at the exclusive (are you listening GG???)

Well I was a fool and did not get in on the first Anakin offering. So, I am extremely tempted to go after this. This is my dilema. I got about $75 from by birthday money the other day. Do I go for this or the 5 new VTSC figures? I am leaning towards this Anakin but I just don't know.

Anybody else notice that the box art says "Lords of the Sith" on it, similar to the way the current Jedi boxes say "Order of the Jedi"? Could this be the first figure in a line of 12" Sith figures - Palpatine, Maul, Vader, Dooku, Bane...

Dave, you're exactly right! Lords of the Sith preview (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=sithlords&source=041306news) - Anakin/Vader is the first in this line - I hope Maul is next!

There's gonna be a lot of orders cancelled after that day, and I am going to reavaluate whether or not I will continue collecting this line. I sure wasn't expecting something like this from Sideshow, especially on the heels of Luke Jedi just making it out.
The list of Star Wars licensees that are creating negative impact keeps growing, and that sucks. So much for trying to complete another line yet again!
Anyway, all that aside, I sure hope I can land one, and best of luck!

It surprises me when people get so worked up about exclusives that they are willing to drop a whole line because of it. I think SSC is a hell of a lot fairer to their fans than Gentle Giant - at least this is merely a repaint, not a brand new item like the Mara Jade bust exclusive to Gen Con Indy from GG.

I completely agree with your sentiment. SSC has shown time and time again, they are IMO at the forefront of customer/fan relations, and they are truly looking out for whats best for their customers.
People would throw **** fits regardless, if it was a completely new figure, or as in this case a repaint of an existing figure.
6000 is a very fair edition size. With a number like that, if you really want one, your chances are very good at aquiring one.

That's true.
But why even have a Con Exclusive, only available to people who are attending a convention in one part of the world? Why not just make it a regular issue figure, if you know that it's going to cause such a backlash? Personally, I feel like GG and Sideshow, and anyone else that has these "Con Exclusives" don't really care about their customers. I'm sorry that I can't take a week off from work to fly out to San Diego for the SDCC, but that means I can't own one of these items? Why not make them exclusive through an online retailer, this way anyone across the US has a chance to order it?

Even HasBLO has the Shadow Stormtrooper up at this very moment for anyone to get. Why throw a fit? I for one have been trying to find one, just ONE line to complete for the first time in years, and I chose Sideshow's 12" line for the obvious reasons. I love their product, and I'll probably shut up when/if I have this exclusive pre-ordered, but the handling of it and the edition size are just wrong.

Easy. To get people to attend the show in person.
If they offered all of the exclusives through an online channel, I think it's safe to assume that attendance would drop off considerably.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but after a bit more exploration into that saber, it was revealed that the light-up saber there is just a custom piece that was created by one of the regular posters over at chinese-starwars.com.
I think something was apparently lost in translation when Jesse learned about it.

I thought something was out of place in that image. If you look closely, you can see the face sculpt has been "tweaked." (It's pudgier).

Actually starting July 3rd they will begin processing the orders. I got the same email for 12" Vader and the 501st Trooper.

I've gotta think it would be afterwards. It would suck for those of us who are going to have people who aren't attending have the satisfaction of owning it first. Kinda takes some of the luster off of it ya know?

I really thought I'd read more about this one from people who picked theirs up from the convention but I haven't seen much about it. I suppose the Jabba display kind of over shadowed everything else!!

I love that photo!! I finally got my shipping notice and he should be here next Monday. I actually got three emails from SS since they increased the original shipping price by using UPS.

I got mine today, and i have to say its pretty cool. The eyes look very evil, the only thing i would change is the dark circles under the eyes. I wihs thye were a little darker.

I received my Anakin yesterday, and man do I love it! I'm very impressed with the sculpt and the poseability is just plain fun to play with.
I'm going to have to try and get my hands on an Obi-Wan for Anakin to battle with. 8)

I got an email from Sideshow about my Wait List reservation for this today. It said that if I don't cancel my reservation, that it will be turned into an order on 9-15 and shipped to me.

Figure that one out...I guess if you have the cash, it might be worth it. Otherwise it's very similar to the one you already have minus some extra paint around the eyes (and an exclusive base).

I went ahead and canceled it. I looked at some photos of it online, and it's not worth $70 for different paint or a base. That and I really don't have the money for it.

The peg arm is bugging the mess out of me, and he seems a tad thick in the chest, but overall this is a really nice figure.

The regular ROTS Anakin had the same issue with the right arm. Look at some threads about that figure here and you'll find some solutions.
