Kubricks / Re: "Other" Kubricks and Minimates (Non SW)

:o :o :o :o I have been a huge Ghostbusters geek since I was 5 years old.  This makes me so happy.  I am going to cry when I get these.

I'm surprised that they have taken this long to reuse the Chewbacca mold (or at least the head, anyway).  Did one of his fellow Wookies in the Sith film have stripes like that?

Thanks guys!  Yeah, I probably spent $200 on Kubricks since the beginning of the month, and am struggling to keep myself from buying more.  The figures that I want but don't yet have range from 25-50 bucks each, so I'm going to try and stagger my collecting over the next few months.  I will also check out the pet thread, as I do have lots of crazy pictures of these beasts.

It's just a regular stormtrooper helmet and body.
So the helmet isn't sculpted to the head.  Does the regular Stormtrooper just come with a plain, black head like the Halo Kubricks do?

This one is almost close enough to get away with it, but the cheek lines make it obvious that it's a Jedi Knight Luke head and not the real Series 4 chase figure.  Oh, and the fact that he comes with the green Jedi Luke lightsaber as well...

Fake Series 4 Chase Luke Stormtrooper
Even though the head isn't right, where might that helmet come from, if not from one of the Storm Trooper variants?  I don't have a regular Storm Trooper, but I didn't think that it came with a removable helmet.  Could it be from a regular Star Wars figure?  Seems like the cavity would be too small.  You don't think he could have dremeled out a regular Storm Trooper Kubrick head, do you?

I've got a quick "newbie" question: does anyone know of any reputable sites where these could either be pre-ordered or ordered once they come in?  For exclusives like these, is it best to just wait until they pop up on eBay?

Series 8, 9 and most likely 10 are dead to me. OT till I die yo!  :P ;) ;D
Yeah, this is really frustrating to me that I'm only now getting into these Kubricks, because I missed out on the release of all the original trilogy figures.  I wouldn't mind getting McGregor's Obi Wan or Django Fett (that's how it should be spelled :) ), but of all the others released or announced, I'll probably pass.  I'm sure that this has been beat like no dead horse ever has on Star Wars forums, but excepting the opening scene of Phantom Menace (which I really liked, and which gave me a lot of hope), that whole trilogy just depressed the hell out of me.

Well, I guess we'll find out soon enough.  I saw this this morning and jumped on it:

After reading the posts here yesterday, I figured this was a pretty dang good deal.  Still, 100 bucks ain't chump change.  I probably could have saved some money getting into heroine over these.  :'(

Don't think I could get rid of old R2, though. . .he is a pretty essential part of the crew (does "shift" mean something else?).

« on: June 6, 2008, 07:43 PM »
Hello, I'm looking to possibly trade for some Star Wars, and other, Kubricks.  Specifically, I'm looking for the following:

-Star Wars Kubrick wants:

-Luke Skywalker from the Degobah system with Yoda in his backpack from the 5 pack
-Luke Skywalker with Bespin gear
-Darth Vader
-C-3PO (regular version)
-Han with snow gear
-Han with blue jacket from TRU 5-pack
-Grand Moff Tarkin
-Storm Trooper
-Lando (regular)
-many others from the "original trilogy"

Other Kubrick wants

-Rocketeer
-Jack Skellingtons
-Alien (from Aliens)
-various Alien figures, including the Power Loader set and the 400% Alien
-Metal Gear Solid 3 figures: Naked Snake with alligator-mask; Naked Snake with commie-clothes
-Batman Begins Batman and Scarecrow

-possibly others, PM me. . .

Kubrick Haves:

Not many Kubricks just yet, but I have these:
-Obi Wan Kenobi (would ideally like to trade, 1:1, for C-3PO)
-Han Solo (regular, series 2)
-Jedi Luke Skywalker
-Metal Gear Solid Winter Soldier (lighter, grayish camo), with Kalashnikov (?), hand gun, and exclamation point

Other Haves:

Though I don't have any other Star Wars stuff to trade, I do have lots of 25th GI Joes (including Doc), Minimates, an unopened Movie Masters Joker and Batman, a loose Transformers Animated Grimlock, and a few other, random things. Look here:

I'm more of a Minimate guy than a Kubrick one myself (though I am slowly succumbing to the call of the Kubricks).  Here is an older pic of a little over 1/2 of my collection:

These 'Mates are actually all on Lego stands.   If any of you have Minimates with the C3 feet (C3 being the DC block toy line from a few years ago), these stands work really well.

Hi guys, forgive me for asking a newbie question, but was the Kubrick Chewbacca only available from this set, and thus incredibly tough to come by/expensive?  I really want that guy, but for 80+ bucks (the only one listed on eBay at the moment), I might have to get used to the idea of living without him. . .

(also, DSJ, your avatar is putting me into a kind of trance. . .those ginormous mammaries are frightening, but incredibly comforting to look at at the same time.)

Newbies / Hello, brick figure addict coming aboard
« on: June 6, 2008, 04:26 PM »
Hi everyone.  I just joined, as I'm getting into the Star Wars Kubricks, and noticed that you have a pretty well developed section here for discussion on these pricey little bastards (and an absolutely outstanding photo gallery--big props to whoever is responsible for that).  I am a huge fan of the original Star Wars movies, but I don't collect any of the regular Hasbro figures, so I will probably be a bit of an aberration here (I got the POTF figures when they first came out in the 1990s, but that was about it).  But that's OK, right?  Diversity is good sometimes, I think.  My big toy loves are Minimates (my gateway into Kubricks), vintage and 25th Anniversary GI Joes, vintage as well as "Classics," "Alternators" and "Masterpiece" Transformers, and Palisades Muppets.  As for demographics, I am a 28 year old white male (big shocker there, huh?), as well as a poor grad student.  I have two dogs, and I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  I hope that I can contribute something here, and can learn a little something about these figures.  Cheers!

--edit: I just read the previous entry's post, and I should note am also an avid "opener."  I don't believe in confining my poor toys to their clear plastic wombs/coffins--
