Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS variation/error thread
« on: January 22, 2006, 12:10 AM »
Anybody notice the variation on the 501st with more battle damage on the leg? Kinda cheesy, it's literally 1 more line of black paint. You would think that the 5 - 7 year olds that Hasbro pays .25 per hour to paint these figures would have good eyesight at such a young age and not make so many damn mistakes.

The only one I haven't found yet is the Yoda/BARC Trooper... and I've only seen the Vader/Holo Sidious 1 time and picked it up. Other than that, I'm set, haven't missed a figure. Even scored those early sets at pretty good (retail) prices. I'm actually hoping that they are going to eventually re-issue all of them, because I've got a few buddies who keep threantening to steal my Wampa and Tauntaun if they don't get their own soon  :P

And that's not a bad price on those Brent... nice pick-up.

I bought about 12 of the Stomtrooper 3-packs and didn't find a single Blackhole Stormtrooper... maybe that's just a rumor too. And I bought 6 of the Clone 4-packs and don't have a Gree. I hope that's just a rumor too.

I was just adding my own experience to the evidence that it doesn't exist. No harm, no foul.

Snags

And I was just pointing out the fact that just because you didn't end up with a Fire Vader out of the two sets you purchased, doesn't rule out the reality of it. I didn't mean to be rude, but I can see that it kind of came out that way. I think that as more people get these sets, and more people (hopefully) don't find one, then we can rule it out. Of course, GG has shown a few Bust-ups that have not surfaced yet as far as I know (Boba Fett with the same pose as the mini bust, multiple different colored Episode 2 Clone Troopers... maybe another one or two that I'm missing). So it might not be real.

Got two Ice Bust-Ups 6-packs today and there was no Flame Vader to be found. I'm pretty sure that it's just a rumor.

This might be a stupid question, but exactly how does this differ from the Mace Windu mini saber I've already purchased from MR? Matte finish?? Gimme a break. At least they could have done the smoked chrome, or the silver finish, or something... Matte?? It looks exactly like the other version.

Lame.

I'm still debating on the ice variants.

Yeah, I'm kinda iffy on them myself. Of course, that didn't stop me from ordering a set from GG, just in case. Now my collection is complete still isn't complete because of stupid things like super rare ultra chase bust-ups like Blackhole Stormtroopers and Commander Gree.

Don't these companies realize that chase figures are going to kill the fun of buying these things? It pretty much ruined the sportscard business, and the comic business... I guess they won't be satisfied 'till they take it all down.

I think it's already been proven, time and again, that playsets just don't sell. Even the modular idea has already been proven to a certain extent. Just look at TRU and see how many of the Jedi Council sets they have sitting on the shelves. Hell, at my TRU they marked them down to $6.98 each, and they still can't sell. This is pretty much a modular playset, if you get right down to it. You buy all 6 of them and connect them to form the Jedi Council Chamber. And before you start saying, "Yeah, but it's not complete/accurate/perfect/good/etc." - that's about the best you're going to get from Hasbro.

Which is why they don't make playsets.

Now, on to the questions. I'll try and make a list, and put the most asked questions at the top. Unfortunately, last year there really wasn't a lot of time to ask questions to the rep I spoke with, and the questions I did ask were ansewered from the point of view of someone who just shows toys, if you know what I mean. It's too bad they don't have some kind of panel set up like they did at C3, that was actually pretty informative.

Last year, Hasbro held their exhibit outside of the regular TF spot, and on a different day. Hopefully, they won't do that this year because I have to work on the day before TF opens (which is the day that Hasbro held their showing last year) and if they do that again, I'm screwed.

My biggest question for the Hasbro rep I speak with is going to "What's your presskit look like this year  ;D "

The Original Trilogy / Re: OT on Video

Your best bet for that would definitely be ebay, since those were never put out on DVD, and the VHS/Laserdisc versions of those films are long out of print. However, since it is illegal to sell such items on ebay, and people have gotten their accounts suspended for it, you might want to look elsewhere, usually any kind of local comic show has one or two of those guys selling bootleg stuff like that. Of course, be prepared to shell out $25 - $30 each for those flicks on DVD. At least, that's what I've seen them going for at the shows.

This has got to be the worst idea that I have ever seen for Star Wars items. It is ridiculous that these things sell out in minutes, and that it is so hard to get them even from the site. The exclusives are selling for $150+ on ebay, and there is no ******* way in hell that I am shelling out that much money for a ******* doll.

This just pisses me off to no end.

Hmmm... I haven't even gotten the email with the link yet  :-\

Anybody have any clue where I might be able to find these larger bottle toppers? I've been looking all over for them, and I found a few on ebay that I missed out on, but only saw them once on ebay. Any help??

Also the Large Can Toppers are out too.

There is no bandwagon for me; born and raised in Seattle, I have been a Seahawks fan all my life.
There is nothing I would like to see more than a Championship for this city.
It gives me chills just thinking about it!

Finally, someone else at this site with some brains  :D

I wasn't born and/or raised in Seattle, but I've been a fan since around '83 or so. I've been waiting a long time (a long, long time) for a playoff win... over 20 years as a matter of fact. I just hope we can take Carolina out. Won't be easy, but I think we can do it.
