Clone Wars '03-'05 / Welcome to the New Clone Wars Forums!
« on: March 14, 2003, 03:24 PM »
We have decided to separate out the Clone Wars line from the Star Wars Saga line in order to give this new and exciting line its own home.

Enjoy  ;D

Saga '02-'04 / Re:Will '03 see transition cards?
« on: March 14, 2003, 03:05 PM »
I thought up this scheme:

I think Wave 15 (Luke et al) is the last case before the split to Saga/Clone Wars. I'm not sure if all Saga will then be Collection 2 on the new cards and the last two Waves with Luke, Vader, Snowtrooper, Padme, Wat and Coleman will be on transition cards (new cards) when the newest figures (Emperor, Faytonni, BEq etc) are released. Or will they be on New Cards by the time the Han Wave is released and Yoda and crew will be the last ones on the old cards

Time will tell I guess, the Wat Tambor mock up makes me think that will be case A and that there w

Saga '02-'04 / Re:Now there are two of them.

Rebelscum posted the same news on Wednesday as told to them by the powers that be at the show.  I'd say they are coming...

I would think all of the figures on the recent FC Polls are somewhere on the drawing board and ready to be made, they use the polls as a way to give us some input and go to LFL with ideas as to what they will approve as well...it is just time for some Dignitaries I guess.

I rather enjoyed Insomnia as well, Robin Williams was great and so was Pacino.  What bugs me about Pacino is the way he looks off into space or at people's stomachs when he is talking, the guy is kind of a freak I think

Old School  Saw this on Friday with one of my High School/College buddies (the Scope drinker ;))

Pros:  Will Farrell  This man is comic genius, and this character is very much based on a lot of his SNL personas...same tone of voice, same not afraid to get naked make you laugh until you puke

Cons:  Some of the bits were not very funny at all, but what you did see was well worth the price of admission.  Vince Vaughn was so so but not up to his previous work, this character was an aged version of his Swingers character.  Luke Wilson was pretty swell too.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest I'd give Old School a 7.6.

SImilar to Road Trip and almost a comic version of Fight CLub, a good guy movie not a good date movie ;)

Looks more and more like the T-Pups will be playing at home or on the road against Portland, I don't think the Spurs, Mavs or Kings are catchable.  I like their chance against the Blazers...could be a second round matchup against the Mavs which will be AWESOME

The Lakers might just be able to get LeBron after all, oh wait the Lottery isn't fixed is it???  Lottery here we come!!!

I was going to wait on the AOTC list until after we find out about the Screen Scenes (War Room and JC Council) and such which will hopefully be today

Hopefully that Lars playset is still coming too...all of which may lead to some drastically different choices for AOTC ;)

The Prequel Trilogy / Re:2 Sets from the OT in SW III
« on: March 11, 2003, 04:38 PM »
Sounds like one of the sets is from ROTJ and the other I would guess is from ANH reading between the lines here

Quote
"It's always quite interesting going back to those historic elements of the saga," says Bocquet. "I think these ones are a little bit easier than the homestead, because they're studio-based and not location-based. They have quite precise drawings that we managed to extricate from the archives, although the archive isn't quite as full for A New Hope as it is for Empire and Jedi, simply because nobody knew what the films were going to become! We're working from the few drawings they do have, plus the stills and looking at the films, and breaking things down and trying to reproduce it."

While there is a sense of nostalgia in recreating environments from the original trilogy, for one of the sets it's particularly personal for Bocquet. "It's quite interesting for me, because I was on Jedi years ago, as a draftsman. So, occasionally some of these drawings that come through are actually mine! All the Art Department suddenly scours around my drawings to see how good they were at that age, but I do stress to them that I was only a junior at that point."

So I'd say Ben's hut is a good guess and from ROTJ probably Yoda's Hut (although that would be both ESB and ROTJ)?

TOugh call...I'd love to see the Cantina and Jabba's Palace again ;)

I just voted too!  Much easier now with the poll up.  Nice work Z!

Of course, I had to just wing it on some where I had no clue - like foreign films.  I voted for Canada just because I like DSJ and Morgbug so much!   ;D

Funny, I voted against Canada for that very reason  :-*

J/k any country that produces Shania can't be wrong in my book!

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re:New Clone Wars Anakin & Durge
« on: March 11, 2003, 02:09 PM »
I think the figures look pretty nice.  Anakin is a little too preposed for my liking.  Gone are the action features, staying are the crappy head leans and preposedness which makes a figure only good looking in one position.

Durge is a Power Rangers toy and leads into my rant...

I sure hope the kiddies like these because I see Clone Wars crap clogging the pegs when EpIII merchandise hits in '05   ::)

This may be the Worst Idea Ever next to SOTE...

I'm happy for those of you who want EU figs, but I fear the consequences for those of us who don't.

I really think we will be seeing this stuff forever, the "cartoon" isn't really a cartoon and will create some buzz but is it going to suck in new purchasers...some not masses though

Are these new tricked out designs going to appeal to the kid in the aisle who can only pick out one toy, maybe...

Are the many SW collectors who could care less about EU going to buy these?  Nope

So if they are produced in similar numbers to previous Collection 1 figs will the influx be more than the outflux...

I personally believe

Soccer Moms + New Cartoon Veiwers + Completionists + EU Enthusiats < EU Haters + People Not Happy with Saga Product Still + Hasbro's Overproduction Thinking that they will sell thousands of these

The last factor there is the key and is a problem with pegwarming already.  If you collected during SOTE you will know what I mean, some KB's still have Prince Xizors warming the pegs
