The Black Series 3.75" / Re: Toy Fair 2013

I have no problem with the "fad" stuff.  If Angry Birds or Dagadar bring in a lot of cash for Hasbro then they should have wiggle room for the figures.

Here's a question, with a statement proceeding it.  "I understand that as toys get more expensive, Hasbro is looking for ways to men less expensive product.  Less articulation, and less accessories seem logical.  But what does Hasbro have in mind to keep the adult collector interested?"

Also,

"It seems that the Clone Wars line is essentially dead, with "real" looking CW sculpts appearing in the main line.  There are so many wonderful designs on the show, are there any plans to do characters other than lead characters?  The Bounty Hunters in that show would make excellent, action oriented figures."

Here's a Q "I was reading that Iron Man figures were going to be 6:00, and have less articulation.  Is this the way that SW is going?"

Personally, if they did this with style, like the Bespin Luke fro the recent Battle Pack, I'd be ok with it.  If they made the main line, simpler, and more cost effective, and then 20-25 Vintage style figures a year, I think that would be good.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Recent Vintage Collection Purchases

I've been on figure overload lately, as I decided to grab everything I missed this year from different sources.  Usually I wait 6 months before buying stuff of Ebay, but I really was just so bored with no new figs, that I had to get something.

I got Ponda Baba, Death Squad Commander, Hoth Rebel Guy, the "Internet Only" wave, and a few others...Kithaba.  I haven't even opened most of them but I have to say, the ones that are open are excellent.  Hasbro has never made better product.

I'm going to open these slowly, as it will be the fall before new stuff hits.

Droid Factory 2013 / Re: 2013 Droid Factory = Dead

I don't get the whole batman thing...the Nolan films are great, but do kids really watch or like these?  I'm pretty liberal about what I show my and 6 and 8 year old (we saw Raiders in the theater) but I would not let them see the Dark Knight.  The Joker is (awesome) terrifying, and psychotic.  I understand that "Batman" as a whole, sells, but are kids really clamoring for a Bane figure?

Good point.  Avengers was huge for them though, and I believe that one huge line can sometimes carry everything else.

The Vintage Collection / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting?

Now that it's confirmed that there will be no new product until the fall, what will you focus on?  I'm going to pick up some ebay things here and there that I have missed. And I'm going to be finally setting up my Star Wars room.  I am going to bill it as "The Smallest Star Wars Room on the East Coast."  It's stupid small.  I'm hoping to have it done for May 25, which will be the 35 Anniversary of SW!

I hear what you're saying.  This really is an odd time for collecting.  I think that many factors...TPM toys flopping, and the Disney sale are really causing what's going on.
I'm cool with it really, because I could use half a year off.  I'm curious about what, if anything, will show up at ToyFair.  In truth, the Droid Factory 2013 line was one I was not very excited about, as there were no new characters in the mix.  Not even one.  I just can't justify buying another Anakin, or Clone just to get the droid.

Since I read this news about the line being cancelled, I have decided to put my efforts into my Star Wars room.  We moved into a new house last fall, and most of my collection has been boxed up. The only room I can use is a small one in the basement.  It's really small. It's hilariously small.  But when it's done it will be wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling figures, vehicles and ships.  My plan is to have it ready for May 25, which will be the 35th anniversary of SW!

I went by one of these stores the other day.  They had a few from the Ackbar waves. but not much.  However, it's good to have another place to look.

AAAAAHHHH!  Boy did I screw up!  I ordered this whole wave off amazon months ago.  I've been really busy lately, and had seem that these were shipping.  I went to Amazon to check my order, and my order had been cancelled.  It seems that I had the account hooked up to an older credit card that expired, and I missed the e-mails notifying me of this because they go to my old AOL account!  Yikes!

I don't need to see Han or Leia.  They are legends and I don't want to see them old and rickety.  However, Luke should be there, as an old Jedi who is important to launching the new story.

Also, I am hoping, and I have heard, it's an ORIGINAL story.  No comics, novels, games will be used as a starting point.  And I'm glad...

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Disney Buys LFL

Boy, I hated Cowboys and Aliens...dull, no humor, grisly without any depth...just lame.

I've been thinking that Kenneth Branagh might work as well.  He is a proven director of actors and high drama, and his work on Thor was pretty good.  And the fact that he did Thor, means he has the Disney approval.

I have a feeling Yoda will show up as a Force Ghost.  The Sequel Trilogy has a hard time in front of it.  No Vader.  No Yoda.  Two of the most iconic characters are off the table...

Oddly, I have a good feeling about this.  Look at what Disney is doing with Marvel.  They have someone great who is running it well.  I love Lucas, but non of us were blown away by the prequels.  I don't hate them at all, but they could have been so much better.  Imagine if the bring in talented, cheap directors like they are doing for Marvel.

The real question is what will Episdoe 7 be about?

Hamill and crew are too old for and Zahn type stuff.  I hope they create something totally new, use the droids, maybe Chewbacca, and have Luke be an old Jedi who is only in small parts.  I don't know.

Let Johnston make his Boba Fett film!
