Anyone else seen this movie?
The missus and I saw it last night, and it was great. I'll leave any spoilers out for now, but I gotta say that Leonardo DiCaprio did a pretty stellar job, and I think he's a total douche.
Mark Wahlberg, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin--it was chock full of really good actors. Cool story, lots of tension...I think Scorsese gets his Oscar this year.
I will say that I was a tiny let down by the ending (not for probably the most obvious reason, although that a little bit too), but I'll save that until someone else starts posting spoilers.
Still, it was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

I saw it - back when it was a Chinese film called Infernal Affairs .
All this oscar buzz around a remake?! Lame.
(I still want ot see it though and heard good things like everyone else)

I posted in the Movie thread that everyone should drop what they're doing and go see it. It was great. Great dialogue and surprising performances from everyone.

I agree that the film was amazing. It was easily the best film I've seen this year. And Marky Mark steals every scene that he is in.
-
Steals them right from China.
-
Film snob. The Chinese version didn't have Marky Mark, so it just couldn't have been as cool. 8)
And I don't care if it's a remake. Scorsese's version works not because of what it is, but because of how well it's done. And Leo represents.
Now that I've been lippy, though, I didn't know it was a remake, so thanks Gene Shalit ;). I'll have to track down "Infernal Affairs" so I can actually compare the two.

To me, that sure sounds like a porno

Steals them right from China.
But the Phone stuff was toned down, thankfully. :-X

I can't watch him act any more without thinking of Team America.

I think Scorsese is incredibly overrated, and has gone to this well way too many times. I'm going to check it out tonight, minus the Oscar buzz in mind, given movies like this don't win Oscars to begin with.

**** all you haters. I am going on record as declaring that The Departed is the best movie in the history of all time.
That's not my opinion, that's a fact, jack.
If you like Chinese movies and hate Scorsese, you are wrong. Unless you agree that The Departed is the best movie in the history of all time, you are misdirected about everything in your life and every decision you have ever made or opinion you have ever held is wrong.
Sorry, gang, that's the way it is.
Love,

On another "Celestine Prophecy" type note, I was watching an episode of Entourage last night, the one with Bai Ling, and when her character is introduced to Vince and the gang, the guy says she choreographed the fight scenes for "Infernal Affairs" and some other Chinese movie that's probably better than the inevitable American remake that will suck.
Kind of a weird co-inky-dink, though.

xSaw this today...it was great!

Now that I've had time to think a little bit more, I still really really liked it...DiCaprio and Damon are both phenomenal in their roles. Damon plays the good guy two face so well and DiCaprio is one of the most underrated actors of the generation. I was tense the entire movie not knowing what was going to happen to them...and that right there was worth the price of admission
Jack was also phenomenal, he nailed the part and its good to see him back as a psychopath
One thing I didn't like was the accents...they seemed really inconsistent. Also, I wasn't real fond of the psychologist, I loved how she was involved all over the place in the plot but she annoyed me.
The other thing that surprised me was that Brad Pitt was a Producer, which made perfect sense, I love him even more than I used to.
As far as Scorsese, of the movies I've seen of his, I'd rank it ahead of Goodfellas and Casino, behind Raging Bull and Taxi Driver. The fact that its a Chinese remake doesn't really bother me
On an OCB scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest, I'd still give "The Departed" a perfect 10
I also just creamed my pants, as I just found out Scorsese is directing DiCaprio as TR in the Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, as one of my all time favorite historical figures, this has me in a swoon

I saw it last week and really enjoyed it.

I really liked it also. There have not been many movies recenttly that I really cared to go see. But I don't think it can be considered a Scorsese best. With his most impressive films in mind, the talent he was working with in the Departed should have had you afraid to blink or use the bathroom.
