Looks like we get RFTs for Round 2! Still no holsters, but nice to get Scrambas done, along with a new Capt. Antilles and couple others to diversify the line! Now, lets get some Bespin Wing Guards done!

YES! I am so glad to see Captain Antilles as part of this pack. I liked what I saw when Hasbro first revealed this assortment. But with the Stormtrooper 4-pack I had concerns - would future sets include a squad leader that might be distinctly different from the rest of the troops? Putting a pauldron on a Stormtrooper is easy. But including Captain Antilles as a completely different sculpt in the Rebel Fleet Trooper set shows me that Hasbro seems to be serious about this assortment.
The additional likenesses are good inclusions, too. I'm happy to see more distinct individuals in the ranks of the Rebel Alliance like these troopers. And the Captain Antilles uniform will make him a great figure to use for kitbashing other Rebel officers. I'm ordering at least two of these!

That's what I did for the stormtroopers. I ordered two RFT packs from Pulse but figured since they're unique likenesses and Antilles is a specific guy, I don't need 4 of these sets.

Really? I didn't think Disney had put them up yet... Last word we had from Hasbro was that ShopDisney was holding back taking any pre-orders on the RFTs until closer to release date.

I was only able to order the Stormtroopers from Shop Disney. Never the Rebel Fleet Troopers.
Oh, and I just remembered a figure that might make sense in this format - the Klaatooinian Raider that was the pack-in figure with the AT-ST Raider! That figure sells for over $60 by itself on the secondary market. The leader of the raiders was never made. Plus the AT-ST needs a crew of two.

Not sure Dave. I do know that I didn't see anything that said preorder on Shop Disney and they just showed up yesterday. With some people already getting these I'm guessing the Shop Disney ones will get here before April.

As for the Rebel Fleet Trooper sets? I preordered those on Hasbro Pulse the day they were listed. I ordered the RFT 4-packs yesterday on Shop Disney and I got a shipping notification today. It’s perplexing how one order is getting fulfilled immediately but I haven’t gotten any indication of when the order that was placed further back will ship.

I have a couple on order at Pulse as well....I just want one in hand to put in my Tantive IV hallway. I can add some to my Rebel Hangar table to flesh it out a bit more.

I did have concerns that the Captain Antilles likeness and the Pello Scambras figures had the same head sculpt but different paint apps, but seeing them in person made it clear that's not the case.
As for how many to get? A total of 4 of these sets will suit me just fine. I managed to get at least a dozen of the RFT's back in TVC 1.0, and I have 3 Tantive IV playsets. These figures will help fill out the ranks in my Tantive IV, Yavin and other Rebel Alliance dioramas.

It looks really good. Much better than the "Haley Joel Osment" version of Captain Antilles from the SAGA line back around 2003, which was IMHO probably the worst executed Fan's Choice Figure that Hasbro has ever made. Although that figure was designed for Vader to choke, and for him to clutch at his own throat. Given the state of action figure design at the time I suppose it was well done. But this new figure is far better,
The rank badge is painted on. I had to examine it really closely to make that determination. It looks like there's some texture there, but it's really well done. The key for pulling off the Captain Antilles looks is that they REALLY paid close attention to the execution of the paint apps. That rank badge is one of the key points. The other is the color choices for the "jacket" and for the shirt. They're distinct enough from one another to pull off the illusion of a light tan jacket over a dark tan shirt.
And another key thing at work here? The non-removable vest. When the Rebel Fleet Trooper first came out in TVC 1.0 I was kind of annoyed. Why would it NOT have a removable vest like the POTJ version? In retrospect that removable vest really didn't add much to the figure. With the vest off of the POTJ RFT it looked pretty weird, and the vest looks a little weird in other kitbashes. Truth be told, the molded vest helps pull off the illusion that this is a jacket. I don't think anyone planned for that back when the TVC Rebel Fleet Trooper was first released over 10 years ago, so this is a happy accident that Hasbro could turn the RFT into a passable Captain Antilles.
The only points of concern for me? The pants aren't accurate. And I also don't know if the likeness was based on the actor from ANH or from ROGUE ONE. Beyond that, I think the Captain Antilles is a great figure.

I popped open my set of the Rebel Fleet Troopers and I have to write down how pleased I am with every little thing about it.
I was "retired" from collecting when the TVC RFT figure was first released, so while it was on my radar as something I would buy if I saw it, its scarcity in stores killed that possibility. I didn't get one until they shipped with the Tantive IV playsets last year (at which point I also got one of the original pre-face printing releases, boosting my army to 3 which felt excessive!)
First off I really appreciate the new head sculpts from the standpoint of improved functionality. The helmets on the originals I have never seemed to fit tightly. The bigger hairsculpts on the new heads have made the helmets a better fit. Of course there is the bald guy whose helmet still jostles around, but 3 out of 4 ain't bad.
The Antilles figure works for me, too. Paired with the other figures in the set his paint scheme is so different he doesn't seem like a repaint at all. It worked out well.
I only bought one set, and that feels like enough for me. I could see headswapping a different officer if I had another 4-pack, but honestly I was always content with 2 RFTs on display, and now I get to have 4 unique characters plus Antilles. It's almost overkill!

Can't wait until HP sends my sets. I was hoping to mod a few nice military heads I found online and swap them on the 2nd set, but they're just a tad bigger than noggins on recent figures so I'm expecting them to be too big for the RFT.
Youtuber Only One Kenobi noted how the Asian head looks a bit like Doug Chiang. Pretty cool nod if that's who the sculpt was based on. Wonder who the others are modeled after?

So here's something I've never seen before. Yesterday, my set from Disney was on a UPS vehicle for delivery. Checked in from time to time to see where the truck was on the map and he never showed up. Looking on the site today it says it will be delivered tomorrow due to "Emergency Situation or Severe Weather" There was no severe weather here yesterday.
Weird stuff.

I had noticed the resemblance to Doug Chiang, too. It's pretty clear to me, and nice in that continuing trend honoring creators like Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston. It would have been nice if Hasbro had modeled a Rebel Trooper on ILM's Lorne Peterson or director Gareth Edwards, since both of them have played Rebel Fleet Troopers. Peterson played the RFT in the observation tower with the handheld scope, and Edwards was the trooper who released the docking clamps that secured the Tantive IV to the Profundity at the Battle of Scarif.
After checking out the Wookieepedia entry for Captain Antilles, it looks like the likeness for the figure is based on the actor from Rogue One, Tim Beckmann (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Tim_Beckmann). The likeness between him and the figure is reasonably close.
I had thought that the original VC-052 Rebel Fleet Trooper was attempting to capture the appearance of the RFT in the original film that got the most notable closeup, Lt. Pello Scrambas. But one of these new RFT's is definitely trying to capture his likeness more closely.
As for the black Rebel Fleet Trooper? I can't find a specific person that his likeness is based upon. But as head sculpts go and facial deco go, it looks really good.

These Rebel trooper packs are ******* excellent. I got two from ShopDisney, and have another 2 coming from HasbroPulse, and I'm trying to talk myself out of ordering more.
Does anyone know if any of the 3d printer guys have RFT holsters available? I figure they could just go with the same one from the Echo Base trooper, since he has the same gun.

I got mine last night... I only opened one. I'm going to sit on the second one for awhile. I just have so many of the previous releases that I don't know that I need more. The Tantive playset is already pretty full.

I keep adding more Tantive playsets to various shopping carts online and then I change my mind. I have two that I've customized a bit to serve as a backdrop to my Rebel Alliance shelf, and another two that I have for the kids to play with (eventually). I'm kind of thinking I might want four total for that, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

My Fleet Troopers from Pulse showed up yesterday. Overall I'm very happy with them. There were a few minor paint issues on the figures, but it was mostly just the shirt colors being painted onto the neck and sides of the vest. I also would have liked to see the ammo painted on the ankle belt. It would have been cool to have gotten a little bit of variation with the helmet to match some of the on-screen versions with visors down (like the 30AC Honor Guard) or with the visor missing:

I love the new head sculpts, its really cool that they threw Doug Chiang in there. And then the dude that for some reason was always the guy that I pictured when thinking of a RFT:

Overall this was a great set and I was really glad to add these guys to my Rebel Army. They will always have a place on my shelf somewhere.
For a figure that I would have considered nearly perfect 11 years ago (except for that missing holster) I actually wouldn't mind seeing Hasbro take another crack at it, and release a new version fully updated to today's standards. Add some ball-jointed wrists, a ball jointed torso, double ball jointed neck, ball and swivel hips, rocker ankles, a holster, a soft and flexible removable vest and you'd have a near perfect figure.

Agree on those points too, Ryan. Some variations on the helmet would have been nice, but I think the complicating factor is that Hasbro wants to use the exact same tooling as much as possible. But then swapping a helmet or two from the Rebel Honor Guard isn't a major imposition.
I was also hoping for one particular Rebel Fleet Trooper that was notable in the Rogue One hallway scene.

I love these army builder sets and consider them fine additions. Superior I’d dare say to the carded figure really. Makes it all the more meh that they didn’t at least give the Rogue One Trooper a new hair color for variety’s sake.
Now it’s like the rebels like to recruit at the retirement home.
With my sets generally I felt the paint apps were good but I think mine have some paint straying as well (like Ryan’s sets). Such is collecting though. I see it often these days.
Obviously the sculpt is pretty amazing… miles ahead of the potj figure. To get some extra ethnicities now too is nice, and something I’d love seeing with the Endor and Hoth rebels and also the echo base trooper. I’d kinda like pretty significantly new Endor Rebels though, in general. And I’d dig seeing some Imperial Mud Troopers in a pack using some of these new parts and them to have some multiple ethnicities.
I would never turn my nose up at a new sculpt like Ryan mentioned, but honestly I don’t think we’d ever get that and I don’t think it’s necessary… but I’d totally buy a bunch, haha. A little modding I can get these to kneel better for hallway defense posing an’nat. The holster thing, whatcha gonna do? Well the Echo Base Rebel you can steal his holster and belt and pop it onto the RFT. It’s an acceptable substitute. But it’s not accurate, no.
I like the idea of helmet variants but I have so many of the honor guards I’ll just use those. The white helmets that seem to lack a visor are weird but doable with some paint remover. I’ve modded some of the antennas with real metal antenna and it looks nice I think.
The Antilles is a mixed bag to me. Overall I love it and feel it has a rogue one variety look to it. It’s a superior action figure to the 03 figure, but it’s not accurate sculpt-wise to that figure, so that’s noteworthy. I prefer the new one’s head though, to the weird Sixth Sense kid looking 03 figure’s face that wasn’t bad at the time, but I’d off now to me. That said, I’d still buy that figure cheap and just articulate his knees haha. He works still. Can’t have enough Rebel variety.
I wish we’d get a Gareth Edwards variant that maybe had the Death Star plans as an accessory, someday. I’d also never turn my nose up at a new (or new legs anyway) Antilles for a carded figure of a dude I wish had an individual card.
I have 6-7 of the new packs and I’d had a pile of the new figure to begin with, so it’s just nice having an expanded army. It’s nice too that this sculpt has so many other “army builder” type figures that head swap easily to it. Im assuming it was all on accident since they don’t standardize neckball size in this line like other lines do.
Now bring on the shore troopers and a billion other packs of army building goodness!
