It kind of looks like a new headsculpt to me, but it could also just be the paint app. The right hand is definitely new. I wonder if they snuck in any other changes and plan on giving us a new ANH Chewie at some point?

The hand is definitely new so he can hold the life day orb thingy. The head... agree that it looks new, but there are so many Chewie heads out there it could be just a repaint.

It is part of Disney's "Life Day" merchandise this year. Disney typically launches the Life Day shop on ShopDisney on November 1st each year so it will be tied to that (exact time unknown so far).

I'm pretty sure Life Day is November 17th. Now I'm scratching my head and wondering if that was the original airdate for the Holiday Special? But that's the date where it was Celebrated in the Disney Parks last year. A November 1st date for orders could get the figures to people in time for the 17th.

The hand is definitely new so he can hold the life day orb thingy. The head... agree that it looks new, but there are so many Chewie heads out there it could be just a repaint.
FWIW, in an interview with Vic from Vic's Cantina (https://youtu.be/kCpmqdrzaP8?t=428), Patrick & Chris confirmed the head & hands are new sculpts on this version of Chewie. (There are lots of good questions in the interview overall too, it's worth a watch.)

How did Disney miss the opportunity to do a remake with Alden Ehrenreich going to Kashyyyk to meet Chewie's family (Baby Lumpy = $$$ right?) and celebrate his first Life Day? This stuff writes itself!

This seems like an odd thing to have at Disney. It seems random for collectors and you would think it would be a Pulse or EE exclusive.

Disney has turned "Life Day" into another shoppable holiday at ShopDisney and the parks.. In the past few years they have done Life Day Chewie as a plush and as a Funko POP so it was only a matter of time to add an action figure Life Day Chewie to the mix alongside the Life Day robes, mugs, orb, ornaments, etc.

That was a good interview.
As for Life Day Chewe, this was actually on my list of customs. Now i can avoid having to buy fabric and sewing the robe. Just hope it's also on hasbropulse and not just disney/shopdisney so i can avoid the shipping charge. :P

ICYMI, TVC Life-Day Chewie was found at Disney Hollywood Studio (FL) over the weekend.
Should go up for sale this week on ShopDisney.com, time still TBA.
