Hooray.

I like more droids, but tracking these down has been a giant pain. I'm still missing a couple from the first wave that are going for $80 each. I just wish they'd sell them non-blinded online, or in a pack.
-
I'll skip the BB-units again (don't like the scale on those), but I will track down the regular astromechs like I did for Series 1.
Like Dave said, hoping they skip the whole "chase" aspect this time since the chase price is ridiculous. I skipped the Chopper-repaint from S1 because I refuse to spend $75-80 for a little droid.
-
To this day I still don't have the C1 droid from the first wave. As for these? I've got a Disney trip planned for later this year, so I'm going to try picking some of these up in Disney Springs.
-
Yep. These were an expensive pain in the ass for someone dumb like me last time. If I remember right, I spent nearly $250 to get all six.
If they don’t short pack any it’s fine I suppose.
-
These are starting to show up on eBay, so they must be in the parks.
A few more details on the droids:
MB-12: burgundy BB-shaped unit
LM-7B: white, black, and blue R4-shaped unit
AR-L5: blue BB-shaped unit
M5-K7: white and orange R2-shaped unit
SC-97: tan BB-shaped unit
J1-B2: white and silver R4-shaped unit

Ugh… I hate this concept. I hope they’re evenly packed this time and the prices on eBay are reasonable…

I'm headed to Orlando next week but not to the Disney parks. Anybody know the best place (Downtown Disney or Disney Springs or whatever they call it these days) to pick these up outside the parks?
Does the Star Wars Trading Post in Disney Springs stock these things?
-
I hit all the Star Wars outpost stores outside the park and couldn’t find any of these. Not sure if this is an in park only item or what. Bah.
-
Hey Dave...only place I've seen these is Tatooine Traders in Hollywood Studios.
-
All done. Thanks to another huge Disney assist from Paul, I managed to get 8 of these at cost plus some shipping... in those 8, there were five unique ones. I paid $55 for the last one on eBay, then sold the three duplicates to cover that cost.
All in, this amazing pile of super interesting and unique droids cost me $125. That's absurd, but is probably about half of what it cost me to get the first wave done through just eBay.

Nice. I'm still trying to track these down on eBay.
I'm still bummed that my recent trip to Orlando Disney Springs came up empty. Was hoping to do the same and buy 12, get close to having them all, and then selling the extras.
-
Yeah sorry to hear that. If you can get a bunch at retail that definitely makes it easier.
I hope this is the last set of these, but if it's not I hope they get easier to find...

I got 5 droids from the 8 crates a friend grabbed for me. Being the anal dumb-ass that I am, I had to complete the series, and was able to get the 6th on eBay cheaply.
It surprisingly cost me less money and effort to complete S2 than S1.
Bring on Series 3. ::)

July 3, 2024 coments below.
I'm just not feeling Series 2.
I was able to complete the first set with an in-store purchase of several crates -- the first time I had been back at Disneyland in decades -- and an eBay pick-up of the two droids I didn't have. I was lucky. That wasn't fun and it wasn't cheap.
I'd be more gung-ho if the domes on the astromechs weren't the same style we repeatedly get. And I can't stand bb-8-type droids as a figure.
I had 3 sets of friends go to Disneyland just before S2 was released. If someone I know goes and happens to come across the crates, I'll probably ask them to pick up a few. But I have no intention of actively completing a set.

I got home from our Disney trip this past Monday. The only place where I was able to find the Mystery Crates was in the Droid Depot shop in Galaxy's Edge. I bought 4 crates and got 2 x M5-K7's and 2 AR-L5's. That was kind of disappointing, but it seems to come with the territory with Mystery Crate figures.
I wound up ordering J1-B2 from eBay. Hoping to trade for some of the others. But the two droids I got seem to be among the more common ones in this series.

I’m having a hard time tracking these down on eBay for an affordable amount.
Are these shrink wrapped in the stores? The ones I’ve purchased have the crates open but the droids are still sealed in blind bags. The sellers are able to tell what is each blind bag so hopefully everything is fully sealed in the stores otherwise they’re probably just picking the expensive ones.
-
The ones Paul sent me had plastic wrap around the outside. Sellers could be opening that in the stores to check the bags I suppose.

Agree. I'm only after the Astromechs (don't care for the BB units Disney does; too big scale wise) and they seem to be running about $30 each. Hard to justify $100 for three droids so I haven't pulled the trigger on S2 yet. :(
I hope they retire this blind-box, mystery crate stuff after this. The crates are kind of a fun diorama piece but not something I feel the need to buy a bunch.

Totally agree. They could keep the crate, but package it in a way that you know what droid you're getting, don't short pack any, and make them in large enough quantities that everyone can get them.
It sounds like these are just showing up in one spot in Disneyland. Tell me how that makes any sense?

The 4 that I bought in that parks had the wrapping around the base of the crates.
I thought that MAYBE the size of the bag in the crate would give some indication if the droid was an astromech or a BB unit, but that wasn't a clear enough indicator.
As for WDW? I only found the Mystery Crates in the Droid Depot shop inside Galaxy's Edge. They weren't even in Tatooine Traders at the end of Star Tours, and that is one of the better shops in the parks.
