Starting up a placeholder thread for this wave, which should be made up of some previously pipelined figures. It is very likely we see some of them fully revealed at SDCC this week.
The Mandalorian w/Imperial Beskar Jetpack
Bo Katan (Season 3)
Jetpack Trooper (Jedi Fallen Order)
Grand Admiral Thrawn [Ahsoka]
Ahsoka Tano (Peridea)
I think there is one more figure in this wave, but I'm not sure if it is a carry-forward figure, the pipelined World Between Worlds Anakin [Ahsoka], the pipelined Lt. Callahan [Ahsoka], or maybe something else we haven't seen yet.

Exciting!
Just kidding. These are dumb. Give us new figures.
-
Weird numbering choice for Din. I am definitely not overly excited for these two. The barbell hips, improved plastic for the darksaber, and new packpack are a nice upgrades and all... but none of them are really something I particularly needed or wanted this soon after their initial releases.
They could have at least given Bo Katan a new headsculpt w/ her longer Season 3 hair cut and given Din the two blasters he is pictured with on the card. (I think Nick mentioned this too in the SDCC thread.) These just feel lazy.

It's hard to argue against those opinions. The rest of the wave (TVC Thrawn with a new head; yet another Ahsoka; kitbash trooper from a VG) don't exactly move the needle much either.

Have there been any fan site interviews or have we heard any commentary from Steve Evans on any of this? I'm guessing much of this may have been started before he came back to the Star Wars franchise, but I'd be interested to know if he is going to continue the fake deluxe and excessive kitbashing that we've seen over the past few years, or if that might get scaled back for more "new" stuff.
While I hate lame kitbashes of existing figures with minor changes (Mando and Bo Katan), I do like the Shriek Hawk 4-pack where we get somewhat new figures even though there are reused parts. I also like the Mando Judge and Mando Fleet Commander figures that likely have a lot of common parts.
-
I’d love to hear his thoughts on that. If he’s willing to talk about it at all it would give me some hope that he’s trying to implement a shift in the future.

These last three make me feel a little bit better about this wave overall. I dug this outfit for Ahsoka and like that they included the longer lekku here. I'm happy to be getting this version of her. Even if it is just a simple modification of a standard Stormtrooper, I loved the Jetpack Trooper design from the games and will be in for a small squad of these guys. The facial likeness on Thrawn is AWESOME... BUT... I really wish they would have given him an updated torso with his "Ahsoka" era paunch & slightly tattered uniform after years of isolation, the headswap only is a bit of a letdown. The cardbacks for all three look great at least.
Overall, the wave is a solid MEH, and a bit of a letdown to close the year out on.

I can't tell if he goes in this wave or the Osha/Mae wave, but there's a new Andor Season 2 teaser repack/repaint K-2SO coming.

It makes sense to get K-2SO back on the market in advance of ANDOR season 2. A re-release of VC170 isn't really inspiring, but what could be remarkably different about K-2SO from ROGUE ONE compared to ANDOR season 2?
I honestly don't know if this figure makes sense to slot in the wave with characters from THE ACOLYTE. EE's listing for that wave has them shipping in September. But it doesn't seem like anything else is ready to go. And it also seems as though this figure might have been slotted in this wave for quite some time. But the delays on the production and release of season 2 of ANDOR make me think that the originally announced release date for the series might have been the Fall of 2024 - which would make the K-2SO release timely! And Hasbro also revealed that new TBS Cassian from season 2 at SDCC. So in this case it seems like the figure releases are benefitting to a degree from show production delays.
-
As far as repacks go, I'm fine with it. K-2SO is maybe my favorite droid in SW, it's an awesome droid design, the figure is fantastic, and he can double as an army builder. I like the new Andor card too, I'll probably pick up a few more to add to the Imperial ranks.
-
My problem isn't the choice of repack in principle, it's still the total lack of product for that show.
Two Cassians one of which has a totally inaccurate imperial uniform, a clone trooper, Vel Sartha, and the droid from the Disney pack. The second and final season is in the works and they've announced Dedra and a repacked K-2SO. If I'm not mistaken that's all. It's a horrible effort for such a phenomenal show. The Acolyte is a hot mess that aired like 2 months ago and it already has gotten more unique figures.

Fair, and agreed. Andor/Rogue One are by far my favorite Disney-Era content, and for the most part any figures from those two are at the very top of my wishlists. It is definitely frustrating to see so little come out of them on Hasbro's end.
I guess this K-2SO does ultimately take up a spot in the line that could have gone toward a new figure... but my hope is that there are at least a few more figure reveals for Season 2 coming later this year, and that K-2SO just ended up taking the place of some other repack/rerelease. I guess that all remains to be seen though.
-

Nah, the current TVC line is always going to have 65% repaint/reuse at this point. These repaints are never taking the space of a new figure, they're helping the line stay at $17.
I don't mind them putting "timely" repaints into waves like this. This is the same reason they had that RO Cassian repaint in that wave with Dooku and Finn. That outfit is very likely in Season 2 so it makes sense. Based on the scuttlebutt from D23 that Krennic is in Season 2, I would not be surprised if they put him and/or Shoretroopers out on Andor card too as repacks in the near future.
I'm with you guys though - if they do not use the early Spring 2025 waves to hit Andor S1/S2 hard, then we can probably file this show along side Bad Batch as D+ shows that are just never going to get the figure love they deserve.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Hasbro's planning sessions to understand why they choose to green light a handful of figures for The Acolyte well ahead of its release yet don't choose to make figures for multi-season shows like Bad Batch and Andor.
I get it that we're not going to get any deep cut figures anymore (other than maybe cantina aliens from ANH), but it totally confounds me that they can't make most of the lead characters in all of their shows. It doesn't seem unreasonable to get six (new) figures from each of their main shows within 12 months of the show's release. I guess I'm asking too much...

I think the simple answer is there is just too much Star Wars and not enough tooling budget each year to satisfy everything. Making just ONE new figure from each source would be something like 20-25 figures a year.
Andor S1 was released the same year as Kenobi and you can sure tell that Hasbro thought figures from Kenobi were the safer bet that summer. With each new year and new source that comes out, it seems less and less likely that older stuff will get revisited.
It is crazy to me how little we have in TVC for SOLO, TLJ, TROS, Andor, Bad Batch and more. Especially compared to how much BS6" got from those same sources...

I'm so burned out on TBS. I just got Momaw Nadon (which probably heavily reuses the Dok Ondar tooling) which is the first figure I've purchased in about a year. I hope that line comes to an end (or just becomes total repaints - they're mostly there) so they can use the tooling budget for TVC.

They did ROTS so dirty... I know not everyone loved it but also killing the 5-POA figures right before the Skywalker Saga end, and a movie no less, was criminal. TFA and TLJ take up 3 or 4 feet of shelving here, and ROTS is like a foot plus an X-Wing. So disappointing. It's not like there aren't plenty of cool things to make form it.

Did Hasbro call it a repaint or a repack or do we not know?

According to Steve Evan's Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/p/C-k8rvCx2lT), TVC K-2S0 is a new card only (VC340).
There could be small paint differences due to the new manufacturing run, but the intention is it's a repack on a new cardback.

Thanks Jeff. I'll order one and check them side by side then return it if they're really that close.
I bought like 6 or 7 extra K-2SO's when Amazon was clearing them out for like $9 a few years ago, so I can move one over to the Andor area easily enough..
-
It looks like there might be multiple KX droids in season 2 of ANDOR from the sizzle reel that was shown at D23. I like the idea of that, but I also liked the idea of a troop builder pack of KX droids to re-create the Night of a Thousand Tears, as seen in that flashback scene from TBOBF.
I get the feeling we're only seeing K-2 this early because season 2 got pushed back on account of Tony Gilroy and Diego Luna not crossing the picket lines during the either the WGA or DGA strikes.
-
I'm eyeing K-2SO, Bo-Katan Kryze and Ahsoka Tano.

I wasn't real high on the trailer, but this figure looks great. They really captured Jude Law's likeness. I'm in for two, and hopefully more later if it ever ends up at discount stores for custom fodder.

Sighted in the wild last night - K-2SO at GameStop! The rest of the wave can't be far behind.
-
Still not overly hyped for the wave, but that's good to hear. It feels like these have been out in the UK and overseas for 1.5 months at this point.
If we end up getting this wave within the next 1-2 weeks I wonder what that means for the remainder of 2024? Amazon/EE currently have the Wave 40 dates between March/May, I'd have to imagine that those would hopefully be coming sooner, too.

Based on past performance? It seems like those estimated delivery dates get padded anywhere from 1 - 2 months. We usually experience a post holiday lull. That's been the way of things as long as I can remember. I think that wave could turn up as early as February if Hasbro has published March - May.

Bah, missed it. Out of stock. My guess is it wasn't supposed to be up for pre-order yet.

I guess the jet pack trooper is arriving today.

Hasbro said there would be no pre-order for this figure so it was likely an Amazon oopsie. I did get in a pre-order and it had a "we're not sure when this will ship" type delivery date. Today it says says January 13.
I guess the jet pack trooper is arriving today.
Amazon says my Imp Jetpack Mando, K-2SO, and Jetpack Trooper will be here Monday.
-
If it’s a mistake on Amazon’s part they’re repeating it today. I just got an order in. 🤷♂️
-
Why is Mando VC312A? Is there a VC312B?
I don't usually pay a lot of attention to the VC #s. Has this happened before?
-
There is a VC312 The Mandalorian (Mines of Mandalore) that came out earlier this year. People were mad that figure was a repack on a new card (it's basically the same Mando as the one that came with the N-1). So, now comes this VC312A Mando, which is VC312 figure with a new jetpack and new hips. They decided to call him VC312A for some reason. Something about it being a tweak of slight upgrade to VC312 Mando.
I think this is the third "A" in TVC.
There was a TROS Sith Trooper that was VC162 that had a VC162A variant at Amazon with extra weapons...
VC162 Sith Trooper [2019]
VC162A Sith Trooper (Armory Pack) [2019]
There is also the recent Salacious Crumb. The version in the new Jabba set is VC66A since they wanted the original from 2011 to keep it's value for folks who have it already from that SDCC Death Star set.

Similar to what happened to you Jeff.

Got my K-2SO today. I can't remember if this has been mentioned, but it's not a repack. There are some pretty significant paint differences, plus new wrist articulation. Definitely a significant enough variant to open.

I also just got a shipping notice for Thrawn from Pulse.

Hmmm, maybe I'm not seeing it? I had a few of the first K-2SO (they did come from tunghori, so they likely have issues) and compared them to the new one. The wrist articulation seems to be the same, but maybe just loosened some? My original versions all had mostly frozen wrist joints, but they were there. The only paint app differences I noticed were some slight weathering variations, but were pretty close.
Do you have a good comparison pic?

Oh ****, I wonder if I grabbed the old Forcelink one that I’d totally forgot existed and compared it to that before opening this one and posting that. 🤦♂️
