Title: 2025 Hasbro Pulse Fan Stream Reveals
Post by: Jeff on January 21, 2025, 10:48 AM
New live stream = tomorrow, 11am ET.  Should be Black Series 6" and TVC 3.75" reveals.

My prediction:

Overly scripted presentation with zero genuine enthusiasm.  Lots of BS reveals and little to nothing for TVC.

My guess is 1-2 more figures from the Yord/Obi-Wan wave (I think there are 4 in that wave yet to be revealed).

Not sure if the reveals will be from the pipeline list (Baylan, Shin, Obi-Wan, Han, Chewbacca, Ahsoka Mauldalorian) or something new.

Maybe they will give us a look at the pipeline DLX Hammerhead/Momaw.

I had originally thought that the OWK Obi-Wan and Yord Fandar were shipping with Chopper (Imperial disguise) and the Snowtrooper, but then I checked back.  Those figures are in the previous wave which has been completely revealed.  The wave with Obi-Wan and Yord still has 4 characters to be revealed, accounting for 5 slots in that case.  Here's the listing for the case:  Star Wars The Vintage Collection 3 3/4-Inch Action Figures Wave 22 Case of 8 (https://www.entertainmentearth.com/product/star-wars-the-vintage-collection-3-34inch-action-figures-wave-22-case-of-8/hse7763y)

This Star Wars The Vintage Collection Action Figures case contains 8 individually packaged figures:
1x TBD
2x Jedi Knight Yord Fandar
2x TBD
1x TBD
1x Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Legend)
1x TBD

I'm curious to see if there will be something new revealed for this wave today, or if it's going to be an exercise in delivering on those pipeline reveals.

Not many surprises on the basic figure front.  But the re-working of the B-1 Battle Droid in order to put it in a troop builder 4-pack?  That's a very welcome surprise!

I find it hilarious they are going to shamelessly double dip on Baylan & Shin by releasing them first again without their cloaks, just like in the Black Series.  ::)

I’ll buy all three of those Ahsoka figures though, sucker that I am.

We now have everyone from that Worlds Between Worlds flashback scene except Ahsoka herself. Weird omission.

The Cantina figures looked great I thought.

Two new figures which look great!  Two repacks (at least one is an army builder), and a new Battle droid troop builder pack, and the droids are redesigned to be able to stand better.

Overall not bad and there was more TVC than Black Series for a change.

Yeah, you have to wonder it that is going to be the case here too.  Super annoying if so...

Overall, the figures look good I thought.  Not sure I need an Ahsoka-flavored repaint of the Mauldalorian Trooper sculpt but with the slightly different paint deco and different rifle included, I'll probably pick one up.

I am happy to see that 501st sculpt get his own carded release.  Glad I can skip getting more of the 4-pack and having a bunch of unneeded white Phase 2 Clones just to get more 501st.

And happy to see the B1 droid sculpt get an upgrade to the legs.  Feels like I'm constantly adjusting those old VC78 droid trying to get them to stay standing on the shelves.

The lack of cloaks on both Baylan and Shin is disappointing.  But I agree that the potential for a double dip is certainly there.  But seeing how Rory McCann is taking over the role of Baylan for the next season?  I wonder if Hasbro would go there with a second Baylan release?

Jayson had updated the Yakface master list a little under an hour before the livestream, so the 501st Clone and the Mauldalorian weren't a surprise at all.  The Mauldalorian appears to be a repaint of the Mandalorian Super Commando Captain from back around 2022.  And repaints like these are the cost of doing business - they help average out those new tooling costs over multiple releases.  The OWK cardback makes sense to a degree for the Clone, but it could also use context.  Releasing that 501st clone along with characters from the Order 66 flashbacks in the OWK series would help this figure land better.

The TVC Battle Droids needed A LOT OF HELP.  And I'm wondering how successful the effort were in solving the issues with the bendy legs and sourcing firmer plastics.

Overall?  The TVC reveals seem like Hasbro was clearing the decks in advance of the Return to Tatooine rollout.  I think that's likely coming in time for Toy Fair, which is in the beginning of March.  Whether or not that's preceded by livestreams remains to be seen.

I'd fully expect a Ray Stevenson cloaked version at some point soon... then I'd expect a Baylan with a new Rory McCann head on it.  Bonus points for Hasbro if they can get us to buy that one without a cloak and then again with one.

I'm not impressed with the likeness on Shin... looks weird to me.

Hopefully they'll just include a cloak with a McCann head swap and be done with it.

I agree about Shin. I said the same thing.

My interest in amassing a battledroid army went up the last few years, so the builder pack is welcomed. It's nice they're trying to address the falling down issue with firmer plastic.

I was impressed with the likeness of the Cantina figs.

Overall, I'm pleased with how the figs are.

I agree the face looks off in the images, I hope the final product looks better in person.

Hell, look at how long it took them to get Leia's face right!

I think they need to “wash” Shin’s hair.  It’s too blond and uniform.

Shin's likeness is definitely not easy to capture in this scale.  Ivanna Sakhno has VERY distinctive model-like features.  Between her hair and her eyes?  They're very specific.  Hot Toys nailed it, but they're Hot Toys, and that figure sells for well over $300.

I just got a Pulse shipping-soon email for the Mandalorian Super Commando... were we expecting these to ship basically immediately?

Edit:  Baylan and the 501st Clone and the Battle Droid 4-Pack as well.

I haven’t even gotten the Luke wave yet!

Those pulse emails are really confusing...

"We're emailing you for one of the two reasons below.

1. Your Item Will Ship Soon!
We wanted to give you a heads up that your order is getting ready to ship!

2. A pre-order date has a new shipping date:

We're writing to provide you with an update regarding the status of your recent order on HasbroPulse.com.

Regrettably, we must inform you there has been an unexpected delay in shipping the following item below:
G12865L00 - STAR WARS The Vintage Collection Battle Droid 4-Pa

The new approximate ship date for this item is: July 01, 2025"

It looks like it's telling you something is shipping but it's really saying your pre-order is delayed...

Oh damn, I did not look that closely... so yeah it's just telling me that the new shipping date for all of these is July 01.

Why would they do these emails like this?!

This also explains why I started getting emails about the Luke wave, but nothing has shipped.  Really dumb.

I was on the verge of canceling my Amazon orders for Baylan and Shin with the intention to re-order them through Hasbro Pulse.  But that’s not happening if Hasbro’s going to pull these types of shenanigans.

It looks like this might be a big livestream.  Because Toy Fair is just 3 days after this particular event.  While Hasbro has shifted away from Toy Fair as one of the centerpieces of their promotional calendar, it's still important as an industry event.  I'll be interested to see if they finally start rolling out the Return to Tatooine theme.

I'll be interested to see if they finally start rolling out the Return to Tatooine theme.

I am really hoping today is "return to Tatooine" flavored.

Remember back in September when they showed off this "Return to Tatooine" Checklist (https://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=25705.msg636943#msg636943) and promised to fill it out over the next few months and then haven't touched it since?

We need to get back to this with some juicy new reveals - Sandtrooper, Landspeeder, Dewback, C-3PO, new Cantina aliens - and not just showing off the pipelined Han, Ben, Chewie, Hammerhead.

Yes please.  There is still a ton of stuff they could do for the first time or make huge improvements to…

I’d love an Owen and Beru, a new Lars Homestead or maybe Obi-Wan’s house as an interior.  A V-35 Landspeeder, or a Ubrikkian 9000.  Plenty of cantina aliens yet…

Wrong movie and a conversation for another place, but I’m also kind of blown away that they never did anything with Yoda’s hut given the Kenner roots of it all.

A bit light on TVC, but Emily hinted there might be more at Toy Fair this weekend.

Nice to get confirmation on the landspeeder. Hopefully that is not going to cost more than the Speeder Bikes (without a pack-in I feel that is still reasonable even with today's prices). I can't image wanting to spend to much more that than on a small vehicle...

Ponda Baba looks fine, he was an obvious rerelease. I'm bummed he didn't get some additional retooling but the updated paint looks like a minor improvement.

The Commando looks fantastic and the accessories all look great, that being said I may have preferred to forgo some of the accessories to get him on a single card. As a deluxe, I likely won't be picking up as many of them and will hope it gets rereleased in either a troop-builder pack or on a basic card.

Hammerhead is everything I was hoping he's be (aside from being a deluxe, but that was definitely expected). They included enough accessories to make it feel like he is worth the deluxe price. Given that he is an "Original 96" figure I wish they would have found a way to get him onto a standard card (even if it was at the Deluxe price), the Hasblab Zeb shows they could have done it with a large figure w/ large accessories. It will be interesting to see how big he actually is once we have him in hand.

I kinda think Hasbro messed up here.  Recently deluxe figures have really peg warmed, and when you have an army builder I would think you would want it on a basic card.

I definitely think that they should have eliminated a bunch of accessories and made this a standard figure.

I'll be interested if they take the shield and some elements and make a riot control Stormtrooper for Andor.

Having Hammerhead and the trooper be deluxe figures is a crime.

I get the distain for the DLX price, but if it means Hammerhead is getting a nice wash and fun accessories, I can deal with it (I buy so little these days anyway).

I really like how they gave him the POTF2 homage mega-rifle, the TSC homage staff, and the extra drinkin' hand.

With the armored commando, I fully expect to see him again somewhere.  Hasbro loves double-dipping too much not to use him again.  I will likely limit myself to 2x on the DLX and then just wait it out before buying more to see if he ends up in a troop builder 4-pack or some set or something.

It was a generally good livestream for TVC.  The announcement of the Landspeeder was nice, even though it got leaked through that poster in Germany.  And I am wondering if it might get a more thorough reveal over this weekend in conjunction with Toy Fair?  It seems like something that Hasbro might reveal in one of those pieces that they do in partnership with USA Today.

The Ponda Baba reveal was predictable and meh.  I get the push for Cantina aliens.  And it was predictable since Hasbro announced the Dr. Evazan re-release.  I've seen more complaints than I would care to see about how Ponda Baba is being re-released.  And mostly because I wonder if these people have been paying attention at all to the way Hasbro has been doing things the past few years?

As for the two deluxe figures?  I think the price will definitely be a deterrent, and it's going to affect sales.  I don't know if Hasbro is aware of how many collectors buy as many as 3 of a basic figure release of individual characters.  Because I WOULD have bought 3 Momaw Nadon's if that was a basic figure release.  But with the deluxe price point I am only going to buy 2 at the most.

I like the Momaw Nadon figure.  It looks great, and the accessories are a clear nod to the past - the E-11 harkens back to the Kenner era accessory, the double barreled blaster is pure POTF2, and the staff is like the TSC release from 2006.  Does all of that justify the $24.99 price point?  Ehhh

The Imperial Armored Commando looks really good.  And I expect the double, triple or quite possibly the quadruple dip with this one!  This deluxe versions seems to be a strategic choice on Hasbro's part from a sales perspective.  I think they want to see how many of the army builders will bite.  And the set is clearly designed around a very specific scene in The Mandalorian season 3, "The Return".  This trooper has EVERY weapon that the Imperial Armored Commandos have as Din Djarin fights his way through a gauntlet of these Commandos who are standing guard by the barrier shields leading to Moff Gideon's command center.  Looking through the scene they have the SE-14R blaster pistols (included), vibro knives (included), riot batons (included), shields (included) and jet packs (included).  The troopers also have blaster rifles (included) seen in the larger battle sequences.  The only weapons that didn't seem to be included were the twin blaster pistols that Din Djarin took from the final pair of guards he defeated.

So what else do I expect with the Commandos?  I think we're likely to see a troop builder 4-pack, plus a single carded officer with the red markings on the armor.  And eventually I think Hasbro will do what they did with the Dark Trooper, and it's likely that they'll release a single carded TVC basic figure of this trooper.

I hadn't thought about this, but doing a 4-pack with all the weapons options would have been a far better option.  And they could start with a single carded basic version with limited accessories.

The tricky part with this, at least from a collector perspective, is to try stepping back and realizing that there's almost certainly going to be the way collectors view this and the way Hasbro views this.  The marketing people at Hasbro almost always win here.  And it's because they're trying to maximize the revenue for the company.  Once people can grasp that, the motivation becomes a lot more clear.  At least it is for me.  Which is why I think this is the most likely schedule of offerings with this tooling:

1 - Deluxe figures - MSRP $24.99
2 - Imperial Armored Commando Officer (red markings) basic figure - MSRP $16.99
3 - Troop builder 4-pack - MSRP $54.99
4 - Imperial Armored Commando basic figure - MSRP $16.99 (release scheduled 2 years after initial release)

Yeah, the Armored Commando smacks of making money.  Get the army builders to start off buying a bunch at a higher price and then get more down the road with the re-issues.  Probably helps get all the accessories tooling upfront in that DLX set too.  Doing a single-card officer with the red highlights and then a 4-pack makes sense too.

Back to this one, it sounds like Amazon might not be carrying Hammerhead but should have the Imp Armor Commando.

I would not be surprised to see the Landspeeder offered in that price range.  There's also the mystery of another vehicle in the works for TVC.  And I think there could be some possibilities with this if it's slated to be part of the Return to Tatooine theme:

-The Imperial Troop Transport - Sure, it was originally released by Kenner in the 1978/79 line.  And then it turned up in The Mandalorian, eventually being released in TVC.  The Kenner box art always made it look like it belonged on Tatooine.
-T-16 Skyhopper - It amounted to a toy and glorified set dressing in ANH.  But I'm fairly sure there's one in the ROTJ victory montage as it checks in on Mos Eisley.  Could Hasbro go back to the well with this?  It was one of those POTF2 vehicles that was a bit of a surprise way back when.  I could see the potential for packing in a variation of Farmboy Luke with this.
-Lars family speeder - Again, this was essentially set dressing.  It got a repaint for appearances on the streets of Mos Eisley.  Plus the same model speeder was worked into the final episode of The Book of Boba Fett.  Is it worth Hasbro going there?  I don't know.

I really hope they don't do a redo of the troop transport or the T-16.  I'm fine with the versions I have.

I would really like a Lars family speeder though.

I still think it could be the "9000 Z001 landspeeder". There was a shadow on the poster outside of the Cantina that looked like it could be the right size, plus it would tie in with both the HasLab & the smaller Mos Eisley Streets playset.

Fingers crossed on that Ubrrikkian landspeeder.

Forget porn. The pic from this blog from a little over 11 years ago is my fantasy.

Pulse is saying there's a high volume of orders, etc.  Can't place order.  Both on PC and app.

Got stuck in a high-level work meeting... they didn't know it was Star Wars pre-order day I guess. :(

Got Ponda and DLX Commando at Amazon and went with Pulse for Momaw.

I did EE for everything to get the free shipping and not give Amazon as much money, but I still added two extra Commandos on Amazon in case they drop in price.

Hasbro gave the landspeeder a new feature -- a cloaking device. I can't find it by any search criteria.

This marks the first time in a long time that I didn't get orders in the day things were listed for pre-order.  And a big part of it was some sticker shock with the deluxe offerings and their higher prices, along with trying to be a smarter consumer.

It's been a long long time since the Star Wars brand team had anyone who loves their job the way the current GI Joe team does.

I would say it's because Hasbro owns the GI Joe IP but look at the Marvel team.  They license that from Disney as well and there's a lot of enthusiasm for the line.

I'm hoping Steve can turn things around with Star Wars...right now they seem to be just trying to get by.

Yep, the difference could not be starker. Extra effort and enthusiasm goes a long way. When you care, you work harder and create a better product. They “get” their property much better than the SW Team ever has, sadly.

Based on the fact that Steve Evans Instagram today is LOADED with back-and-forth with Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, seems like a really easy guess that he is the "special guest" and they will be revealing a Carson Teva figure tomorrow.  That's probably the TVC "The Mandalorian" figure in the Ponda Baba case.  Or maybe he's getting both a TVC and TBS figure?

Kinda surprised he gets a figure before Peli Motto (thought the "return to Tatooine" thing would make her a lock finally, especially a DLX With some of her droids), but I'll still gladly buy him!

Probably a lot easier to kitbash a Carson Teva figure than a Peli Motto figure.

The back and forth between Steve and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee on social media feels a little bit like "a work", which leads me to believe that yes, a Carson Teva related announcement is coming.  But I think it's not a bad idea for Hasbro to get Star Wars creators involved in the announcement of figures of their characters.  It was actually pretty cool how Hasbro got Emily Swallow involved in the announcement of the Black Series roleplay Armorer helmet, as well as the TVC Armorer's Forge playset.  Getting "Angry Appa" involved in the launch of a Carson Teva figure is great - especially since Paul is a collector / fan with his own YouTube channel where he talks toys and collectibles.  I think a TVC Carson Teva X-Wing would be a great way to build on a promotional partnership.  It's an off the shelf design that would only need new deco.  But I think the bigger thing to consider might be Hasbro partnering with creators to broaden their reach promotionally.

As for what gets revealed this morning?  It's rumored to be pretty substantial, but I'll wait to see for myself.  I think Hasbro might be holding out some of the really big reveals for next month at Star Wars Celebration in Japan.

I'll guess for TVC we get the Landspeeder and the remaining 4 figures from the Ponda Baba wave...

TM - Carson Teva most likely
Rebels - ?
TCW - ?
ESB -?

I feel like they are going to save the "good stuff" (Return to Tatooine; pipeline ANH Han, Ben, Chewie; rumored Dewback; etc.) for SW Celebration.  That way they can have a big diorama set-up with the Streets of Mos Eisley, the Cantina, the Landspeeder, the Dewback, and more as a big part of the SWC booth.

PS, my boss scheduled an emergency meeting today at 10am CT so I'll have to catch the fanstream after my meeting...

The TESB entry makes me wonder if Hasbro is already planning on the Snowtrooper double dip?  Could Hasbro have been planning on releasing the Snowtrooper Commander shortly after the release of the VC349 Snowtrooper?  I would not put it past them to do that.

Wonder if they can send dual livestreams?

Dengar
Landspeeder with Poncho Luke
Assajj Ventress (so glad the fans choice used so much capital on her)
Agent Kallus
Carson Teva

Pretty good stuff all around.  The Kallus was a nice surprise and looks great.

I went in with lowered expectations and came out extremely happy. As much as I love the OT backgrounders (still tracking down so many from 30thAC and Legacy Collection) it was really nice to see two prominent characters from CW+Rebels announced. Was also great to see the enthusiasm for Teva.

So Mara Jade wins by default.  ::)

A lot of good reveals today, though.

I can't say that I was surprised by the Dengar reissue announcement.  That rumor had been kicking around for quite a while, so seeing it finally come to fruition settles that bit.  Not everything can be an all-new release, although I think the Snowtrooper Commander double dip is more a matter of WHEN rather than IF.

It was great having Paul Sun-Hyung Lee take part in the livestream to reveal the Carson Teva figure.  He's an asset to the franchise, and I've really enjoyed his character in the Mandoverse.  I think the choice to make him with his leather jacket is a cool way to change things up for an X-Wing pilot.  And if the reception for the figure is really good?  Perhaps Hasbro will offer an alternate version without the jacket as a pack-in figure in the event that they release a Carson Teva X-Wing.

The Agent Kallus announcement was really nice to see, too.  In light of just how many REBELS character slots were on the Yakface Rumor List, I had a feeling that Kallus could be on the way.  But seeing an actual announcement is that much better.  The likeness looks like a great realistic interpretation of an animated character.

I'm also happy to see what Hasbro did with the Landspeeder.  It looks like a substantial update from the previous release.  And the inclusion of that Deluxe Luke Skywalker with the additional Tatooine gear makes sense.  The VC344A designation is fine by me, as is the deluxe cardback.  I for one don't mind the larger cardback as much as some in the community have made a stink about it.  The cardback art is nice, too.  The one puzzling bit here?  If Hasbro is going to reveal something like the Landspeeder's box art, then they should be prepared to also announce the figures featured in that art - like the new Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Asajj Ventress was a complete surprise to me, and a very welcome one!  She's been on my March Madness Top 25 lists for the past 3 years, and I voted for her in the March Madness final.  I was disappointed this morning when I saw that Mara Jade had won the 2025 SWTVC March Madness Final, but then this announcement made it clear to me that Asajj Ventress had actually won!  The lack of the cloak is disappointing, but it's not a dealbreaker for me.

As for how new figure announcements might line up with a major fan poll?  The March Madness bracket was announced at the end of February, and three characters that were in the bracket were announced today - Asajj Ventress, Carson Teva and Agent Kallus.  Does anyone think that Hasbro should consider working with fan groups like SWTVC so that a slot in their TVC bracket tournament might be opened up on account of a figure being announced within the next calendar month?  I think it's worth considering.  I don't know what characters got those #65, 66 and 67 slots in the nomination process.  But the ripple effects on the bracket might have been considerable.

The Dengar was an odd choice, not complaining but I wish they had updated him a little bit.  I will probably pass on this one unless I need one for a display.

Love all the rest of the TVC choices.  The Luke pack-in figure with the landspeeder was a great choice.

Assajj Ventress and Kallus look great.

Carson Teva is way overdue!

And yet again, TBS 6" gets a bunch of great figures that should be in TVC.

Where’s my 6” Kallus and Carson Teva though??  :D

I thought it was a nice showing for both lines really. They seem to have put a lot of effort into SM-33 which is appreciated, even at the extra price point.

Are there two different Night Troopers? It kinda looked like it but I had the sound off during that part and haven’t had a chance to rewatch yet…

Landspeeder is Fan Channel/Pulse ($60).
The 4 figures are Fan Channel/Pulse/Amazon.

Really like the way that VC344A Luke turned out.  Love the extra wash on his boots (the white boots on VC344 were my only nit-pick on that figure) and the extra accessories.

I can't believe I'm considering buying a second Landspeeder just to be able to double-up on that Poncho VC344A Luke...  ::)

Dengar has been rumored as a repack for a year or two, so he wasn't a total surprise. However, I still don't really feel like he was needed, and the new decor doesn't look substantially better. The new cardback image does look nice though. I'll probably still grab him.

The rest of the reveals, though, were AWESOME. Kallus, Teva, & Ventress were all very high on my want lists and the figures for each are top-notch. I'll be grabbing a bunch of Kallus to headswap and use as generic ISB officers.

I didn't feel like the Landspeeder really needed much of a redo after the TVC 1.0 version, but after seeing this new one, it is definitely a nice upgrade. I love that they added the space behind the seat for 3PO's legs and the new engine detailing looks really nice. Floppy hat Luke is an obvious choice for a pack-in. I agree w/ Nick that it is a bit odd to reveal the Landspeeder and then not even casually mention any of the other new figures shown on the packaging...
