Post by: Jeff on April 18, 2025, 09:16 AM
More stuff happened after I went to bed last night...

Maul - Shadow Lord, a Star Wars Original series, arrives on Disney+ in 2026.  Sam Witwer to once again provide the voice of Maul.

"In a new series set after the events of the final season of The Clone Wars, Maul rises again to lead the underworld factions."

Ever since that final twist in Solo came out, I thought this would be a great side series that they could pull the string on.    Glad they're finally getting to it.

Yeah, I wonder if this will lead up to (and include) the "sequel" to Solo.

Awesome news. This is great for Sam, and great for us. I am really looking forward to seeing that storyline finally continue.

I would have to go back and rewatch, which I probably won’t, but I feel like between Rebels and Clone Wars they pretty much filled up all of the time gaps with Maul so I’m not sure where this could be set or how interesting it could be plot wise, but I’ll def check it out.

IIRC, it's close to 10-year timeline gap between the end of Clone Wars when Maul escapes from Ahsoka & the post-credit scene in Solo when we first see Maul again, having once again reestablished himself as a leader in the criminal underworld. After Solo, it is another 6-8 years or so until Maul reappears to Ezra outside the Sith Temple on Morriban in Rebels, having lost everything. So aside from the one brief check-in over a 16-year period, we don't really know any specifics about what he was up to during the "Rise of the Empire" period. I think there is a good amount of story potential there.

Thanks Ryan, I didn’t realize there was that long a break between appearances so yeah.

Why are people saying Darth Talon is in this??

Spoilers...?

Sounds like there is a lot of speculation that Filoni and gang are picking up a bunch of old George ideas and recycling them in this show.  One idea comes from a cancelled Darth Maul video game:

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Battle_of_the_Sith_Lords

"George Lucas revealed his interest in Darth Maul working with Darth Talon, a concept that would carry over to Lucas' first drafts of the Star Wars sequel trilogy.[10] When Lucas was told that this would not work since Talon lived more than 170 years after Maul, he said the main character could instead be a descendant or clone of Maul.[11] Talon's purpose in the game would have been to serve as "Maul's Lauren Bacal", a smart and sexy female deutagonist.[8]"

So, flash forward to the Maul Shadow Lord preview from SWJC where it was shown that Maul is training/working with a red/pink skinned Twilek.  There is a ton of speculation over whether of not this may be his new apprentice and so all the rumor-folks are assuming that she = "Darth Talon" because of the video game stuff above.
