Title: Favorite Holiday Special
Post by: Scott on December 12, 2003, 12:43 PM
Mine is Charlie Brown, classic in every sense of the word, I can relate to the big headed kid so much

Rudolph is a close second, but second for sure

Not to be unoriginal, but I'd have to wholeheartedly agree with the Charlie Brown Christmas special...I try to never miss it.  Watched it this year once already, and I think it is on again tomorrow night too.  A true classic, and I've always been a Snoopy fan, ever since I was a kid (we even have a beagle now too :P).  We actually always catch "the Great Pumpkin", as well as the Thanksgiving special.  Rudolph is another good one, but I did miss that one this year.  Also, although this isn't "technically" a special, we watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation each and every year :).

Ah, I love them all...   8)  Charlie Brown is obviously great, but those 3 claymation flicks have always stirred the fondest of memories for me - Rudolph, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, and A Year Without Santa Claus.  Those were the best!  The Frosty cartoon is pretty fun too...   ;)

It's a Wonderful Life gets the nod for best "oldie" too!  Slightly more current - I also loved Scrooged, with Bill Murray.

Just picked up all 7 of these movies (along with a few others) just last week at Best Buy's 3 for $30 X-mas flick deal.  I'd say I'm set with the Holiday section in my DVD collection for a while...   8)

Like I said - I love them all!   :P

I love the Grinch. That Chuck Jones animation is simply comical.

My other fave is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

I think some people may be confusing Christmas "specials" and Christmas "movies" here.

Anyway. . .  My favorite, and the correct answer:

"A Charlie Brown Christmas"

Quote
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them,

'Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.'

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

My next-favorite Christmas television special is probably the feature-film National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, released theatrically in 1989.

Christmas movies, Christmas specials, whatever. It's Christmas themed.
