I've taken up collecting vinyl albums, singles, and CD singles now. <snip> It's a little more rewarding than action figure collecting, plus it's something I could talk about in public.
I'm thinking about guitar collecting next. There's this bitchin' Paul Stanley signature model at Sam Goody I've had my eye on for a while.
i have the kill bill figures by neca, but i think (hope) that those were just a one time deal. i'd love them to release more, but at the same time, i'm fine with just the 5 (or six if you include the quentin tarantino exclusive ;D )

It's a 13" resin statue (pretty much what I figure is that NECA uses double scale sculpting and this is the original scale version). It's numbered 309 of 600 for North America. Pretty nifty. Cost a bit much at a really bad time in my finances, but it's a one shot deal, so... had to have it.
There's supposed to be a second wave of figures, but I'm surprised they've not been discussed too much or shown. Maybe they're dead in the water. They showed O-Ren a long time ago, they've removed her images from their site, and there's no new news. ???

yeah, i wanted that too, but it was a bit pricey, like you said. besides, it's just the same pose as the smaller (and much more affordable ) action figure. now, if they were smart, they would have made this version of the bride in a different action pose...
yeah, i remember seeing her as well, and thinking that she actually looked the best out of all the figures they had shown. i heard somewhere that the actual problem was with lucy liu herself, she had something to do with pulling the figure out of the assortment. not sure why, of if that is even true.
It seems like if they didn't get more figures out for the DVD release, they've lost their last real opportunity for a good sales tie-in. :'(

With RotS, I'll stick to my basics. 2 of each of the NEW basic figures (1 to open, 1 to keep carded), 1 of each of the recards/repaints (to keep carded), 1 of each of the NEW deluxe/ultra type figures, NEW vehicles, NEW box sets, etc. I don't buy repack vehicles (usually). The only thing I keep packaged is one of every basic figure carded. Everything else gets opened. I'll also probably continue to pick up some of the Galactic Hero 2-packs to stash away.
No Unleashed, no Master Replica props, no Gentle Giant busts or Bust-Ups, no Code 3 vehicles, no 12" stuff, no Sideshow Satues, no Attakus statues, no Kotobukaiya statues/models, no Die Cast vehicles, no Micro-Machine vehicles, no Action Fleet vehicles, no Jedi Force figures, no SW board games, no Wookiee super-soakers, no more WotC minatures, no Hallmark ornaments, no posters, no replica helmets, no Attacktix figures, no SW plush "buddies", etc etc etc.

I'll pick up any new Sesame Street, Muppets, Batman (villians and major characters such as Gordon, Alfred or NW), and of course Star Wars. Probably try to track down my first box set (Early Bird, Speeder Bike, or TRU 5-pack). Maybe branch out into some of the other lines too if I happen across any I like. :)

I'll pick up some of the Green Lantern Wave planned for March to add to my Green Lantern shelf. Will also pick up any new Pocket Hero sets that they announce (but I think this line is dead :().
All in all, the impending move has done a reasonable job of dampening my spending. Seeing my total from last year for all the stuff scared the snot out of me. I'd suggest I'll end up around half of what I did at that time. I hope.That's a fairly laughable statement. Between army building with shock troopers and #41's, buying higher end items (MR helmets, Sideshow statues) and rounding out vintage and kubricks I didn't end up much different at all from last year. Too much crap, have I. Too much crap, continue I to buy.
I'll buy whatever Master Replica puts in front of me (even though I am hoping for some control over signature sabers I already have). I planned on buying the Sideshow 12" line but so far I have passed on Luke and Anakin. I will try for Obi-wan on Friday but if that ends in a bust, I might just say screw it and stick with MR only.

Is this just a general release with some exclusive tie ins or is the entire line exclusives?? I've loved that show since the first episode and I still catch the reruns everynight. Do you have a linky you could point me to?

Still applies. Not a whole bunch of anything. I've picked up the ANH wave in a trade, rebel pilots evolutions I/II at half price sale and a pair of DCUC figures. That's it for the action figure world. I've bought several Greenlight cars and there's 4-5 coming shortly I want, but that's a whopping $25. Got my 2009 Kubrick box set on the way once released and a box of Fetts, but nada else there.
Selling continues to easily outpace buying. Nice.

I was into a lot of different movies/tv shows/etc. when I was a kid that now have toy lines again and it is fun to take a look at them. But nothing else was ever nearly as important to me when I was a kid as Star Wars and so knowing how much space and money any other line would take makes it easy to say no for me, whereas I'd probably roll over and die if I didn't have the SW stuff anymore.

Robot Heroes have been unfortunately cancelled and I'm pretty sure the Joe stuff is taking the same cue. Such a shame as I wanted a full line up of G1 and ARAH stuff.

As for what I'm collecting in 2011:
Star Wars
TVC - Picking and choosing, which ultimately means getting everything. :P I'm planning to army build the new clones, and even some Utapau and Storm Troopers if Hasbro rectifies the yellowing issue. Ended up with every new 2011 TVC figure, plus most of the Revenge wave repacks; army built rebels, stormies, and clones
Clone Wars - Probably everything, plus multiples of the army builders. Well, I stuck to getting everything... ::)
Vehicles - I'll probably get the Turbo Speeder and Tri-Fighter. Not sure if I'll continue buying multiples of vehicles. The Attack Shuttle is a must for me. I'll definitely try to get two so I can have one in "ship mode" and the other in "playset mode." For the most part I stuck to multiples of generic ships... two Droid Gunships, four AV-7 cannons, etc. I did get both of my Republic Shuttles for around $50, so that makes me feel better
G.I. Joe
Probably scaling back on this. I got the whole POC line from last year, and I definitely have some buyers regret. I'll definitely be picking and choosing. Garbage like Sci-Fi and Crazy Legs should've been left in the 80's. The jet looks really cool though, and I might have to add one to my collection. "Picking and choosing"... Hahaha! I ended up completing the Pursuit of Cobra Collection and I'm mostly current on the 30th line. I increased the army building, even to the point of getting multiple vehicles

Captain America - Probably a movie Cap, comic WW2 Cap, Winter Soldier, and Crossbones for now. Getting other movie figures depends on what is available and how much I like the movie. I kinda stuck close to this one. I got the figures I listed above, plus a Hydra trooper and a couple of extra (and cheap) comic Caps
Thor - Not as excited about this line. I'm sure I'll get a Thor or two after seeing the movie. I got more figures than I wanted to from this line, so I'm trying to sell them off. I plan to keep only one Thor
This is the year I've decided to buy a house, so I'll be lucky if I can just keep up with GI Joe. I really like the TPM stuff next year, but I really feel that I bought it all 12 years ago. And it'll be an added luxury if I can pick up any MOTUC figures. Guess it's a wait and see attitude for me.
Star Wars:
Hasbro - I bought new characters from the Vintage Collection line, one or two upgraded characters like the Senate Guard, but stayed away from army builders and repacks. Snagged a couple Starfighter vehicles and the Attack Shuttle (Thank you Amazon) and bought more Clone Wars figures than I thought i would.
Sideshow - I did buy a Sideshow figure, Yoda, in 2011 and pre-ordered Boba Fett and IG-88. The Yoda figure was the only deviation but he's such an excellent figure I couldn't pass him up. Now that we've seen the Hot Toys figures, I'm impressed, but I'm also holding off due to pricing. It would have to be a character I just can't stay away from in order to bite on their line.
Gentle Giant - I stuck to my guns on Gentle Giant, I bought the SDCC McQuarrie Snowtrooper and have Darth Maul coming as my PGM choice. Oh, and my Commander Fox figure from the 2010 PGM subscription came, and was promptly sold. I also bought the SDCC Jumbo Jawa, just because. But I'll probably move him also.
Lego - Only picked up the bagged mini sets and the Advent Calendar at retail but I did buy the Republic Dropship w/ AT-OR.
GI Joe 3.75": Picked up most of the POC/30th releases, managed to get the Club Dial-Tone and bought the Adventure Team Land Adventurer. Didn't get the convention set, though. Added the Sky Striker and a couple vehicles.
GI Joe 12": Grabbed the annual Club membership figure (but still need his uniform) and passed on the convention set, which I now regret. But I did get the convention exclusive Space Diver, which I think is really fun.
Other: Picked up the SDCC Indiana Jones release. And I also picked up a couple MU figures this year just because I thought they looked cool. Also ended up with a couple cheap Tron vehicles. I didn't buy a lot, but I did end up with more Transformers figures than I'd intended.
Scotch - yeah, that's right, Scotch whisky. Gotta collect something. Stoopid OCD.

DCU: new Watchmen figures courtesy of Club Black Freighter, cannot wait for these!
Hanna Barbera: new Zandor and Tundro figures from the Herculoids cartoon
Walking Dead: anything and everything they decide to bless us with, no Minimates though

Marvel - Still picking and choosing. I mainly stick to anything Spider-Man and some X-Men, with other various characters along the way. Will probably skip most of the Iron Man 3 line... most movie lines I only snag one or two figures anyway, and those are generally comic versions, so meh
LEGO - hoo boy... I'll pick up anything Star Wars OT, maybe anything if it's cheap (ie Planet sets, troop building sets, etc). Marvel and DC I pick and choose mostly for the minifigures. :-[ And of course I love the blindbag minifigures. Might pick up small, cheap sets here and there

Hiya Aliens/Predator: my biggest punch to the wallet for toys will be the Hiya Aliens APC at $250 but I'm getting one. I'll just maybe sell a kidney.
At this point I'm seriously considering downsizing and keeping just a focused collection of the best of the hero versions and backgrounders, offload the multiple extras of fig versions and pass on the huge collection of vehicles I'll never possibly have room to display.

It's a rough time to be a Hasbro collector.
I think Diddly nailed it on Star Wars. One movie a year is not beneficial for toy selling.
For 2018 I still want that next wave of Alien ReAction figures, and the Shogun Warrior figures they showed off previously.
Will definitely keep buying the Stranger Things figures in either scale. Looking forward to Jesus and Negan in the McF 5" line, not sure what if anything is coming after those two. The MIA Hero 3-pack I guess.

DC Collectibles Batman The Animated Series: I put this every year, but the figures are harder and harder to find (i.e. my local comic stores have stopped buying new figures), and the production runs keep getting more and more limited, meaning the prices are higher on the secondary market. This line is the reason I started buying 6 inch scale toys, so it's disappointing to quit without having a complete set of the stuff I want, but it's looking like I'll have to.
MOTU Origins Not until Fall, and then WM exclusive for this year (ugh), but I like what I see and they are supposed to be affordable. Lots of nostalgia for MOTU stuff because honestly I think it was the toy line I had/got the most of as a kid.
what is everyone looking at picking up going forward?
TVC 3.75" - I'll buy anything "ALL NEW". I'll be very selective on anything "kinda new" (photo-real repaints, deco refreshes, etc). I'm planning to skip almost everything that is a straight repack (only exception is probably that new TVC Stormtrooper with the holster and rocker ankles - I have like 8 on order at EE). Vehicles, I'll pick and choose depending on cost and size and anything that hits my personal 'wow factor' button.
TBS 6" - No longer buying or collecting these. In the near future, I'll be selling most of the 6" stuff I have (mainly Han Solo figures and some other main characters). I am only keeping 8 figures from ANH - Vader, Leia, R2-D2, C-3PO, Ben with Holo-Leia table, Luke with Landspeeder, Smuggler Han, and Chewie.

Yeah... a Stormtrooper to stand by Vader would be nice... actually two so one can stand on each side. And maybe Tarkin to go with Vader, the Stormies and Leia for a little ANH DS scene...

How did the Black Series purge go Jeff?
How did you guys do on selling your BS stuff? I'm thinking of doing a giant purge of my collection if I can mostly get my money back. Not sure if yours was sealed or open, but my 6" stuff is all open.

TVC: pretty much everything,
NECA Universal Monsters: I think they've done everyone I'm interested in, though there could be accessory packs down the road.
GI Joe Classified: picking up a few Joes here and there.
Transformers: same as Classified
Still out of Black Series for the most part.
Same old, same old for me in 2024 looks like.
1) Star Wars Black Series - still trying to maintain a complete collection but those @#$&* Holocomm figures are really pushing it.
2) Super 7 ReAction & Ultimates - still trying to be selective with these, but I’m all in on their Godzilla stuff in any scale.
3) The Ghost - Hopefully by this time next year I will have this in hand! :)
That’s it, unless NECA does any more figures from The Thing. Will probably pick up some Marvel Legends here and there if they do any more classic FF characters. Will likely buy more Jurassic Park stuff on clearance too since I can’t seem to quit that line cold turkey.
I think 2023 has been a turning point for me. My interest in Hasbro's offerings in TVC has declined (mostly due to their lack of effort) and I'm kind of ready to quit altogether. On the other hand, I feel GI Joe Classified has been more interesting, though I only get what I'm interested in.
My list for 2024 is:
TVC: Lack of interest is having me lean towards quitting. Will pick up a few that interest me. Would like to hook up with a local to get cardbacks though.
TBS: Out
NECA Universal Monsters: They've covered those I'm interested in, but if they give me a Phantom of the Opera Red Death costume or an accessory pack, I will pick it up.
GI Joe Classified: Have more interest in these, but will pick and choose characters I like.
Transformers: I think I have those that I want.
