I gotta start checking this thread out some, thanks Corman.
I had given up comics, but damned if I don't get the urge... I bought a SW Tales at the local supermarket while doing some shopping for my parents, and it was surprisingly good (hate that they made the Scout on Endor a Clone... F'n EU traitors!).
May need to pick stuff up though now... I would rather get them in that graphic novel type format where they're all in one book. Just simpler on me, to just put it on a bookshelf. I really wanted that one Empire series with the Amanaman, but don't even know if it's all compiled in that format I like. :-\

The storyline you're talking about is easily one of my all time favorites in the Star Wars comic world. It's called 'To The Last Man' and it was in Empire issues #16, #17, and #18. If you want it in a bound volume, you're in luck - it can be found in Empire Volume 3 - The Imperial Perspective.

I'm gonna try my luck at one of the last comic houses in Pittsburgh (Phantom of the Attic) since it is on my one semi-routine toy run. If that fails, it's off to Amazon to buy that and a few others (to make shipping worthy).
I like that bound format myself... I like things being compiled in one book. I need that for customs stuff too. Good Juggernaught and Empire Era TE pictures.

Republic #76 was pretty good, but it looks like the next one will be even better!
Greivous #3 is pretty decent. Not a huge fan of that style of artwork, but Greivous is pretty cool period, so any story with him in it will suck me right in.

I agree on the artwork, It was kind of hard for me to get through the first issue. I didn't really feel the story started off great. have yet to read the 2nd or third..

The General Grievous series artwork could be A LOT better. I just picked up #3 (along with Republic #76) at lunch time and I'll be reading them tonight.
I did thumb through the GG #3 and to be honest, what I was looking forward to more than anything else was that Grievous' "experiment" actually came to fruition. While I know to some people that may seem cruel, but a month or so later from the time period of this book, all of the Jedi children are slaughtered anyway, so to see the technology of GG's body wedded to one of those younglings would have been a dark and interesting look into how truly perverted and evil Grievous is. I think the series in general would have been better served with (a) better art and (b) a more adult storyline as opposed to (a) kindergarten level art and (b) a kid-friendly story.

Crimson Empire looks like a rerelease. The listing has a "STAR" after it, and that denotes coming from Diamond's best selling back list.
And it is Clone Wars Vol. 5 this week. It is listed as "offered again" on the invoice. The original release for this was last winter, but for some reason was very hard to come by. I got a friend of mine hooked on the Clone Wars trades and he just found Vol. 5 last week after 7 months of looking for it.
Vol. 6 is due later in the month.

They're actually killing off basically their entire present run of series (Tales, Republic, Empire) and starting afresh with new series and whatnot.
I think at Comic-Con on Friday there's supposed to be a big reveal on their future plans.

The Rogue Leader is the comic/story I always wanted to read. Luke and Wedge in an adventure with Jansen and some other pilots. I cannot believe this is only a 3 parter. If they would make this title a monthly, I'd love it. I know what they can do with Luke is limited, but it is neat to see.

I was thinking about picking up the Purge one shot this week. This covers the Vader ROTS-ANH period, right? I hope we continue to see some OT stories told in the comics this year.

Yesterday I picked up the Purge one-shot, now my second Star Wars comic book. (First was Empire Strikes Back: Infinities TP)

Purge was excellent.
The SW comics have been pretty darn good as of late. My only problem is that very few seem to get the dialouge right. Purge did a pretty good job, but still, things like having the emperor claim "do not concern yourself with the jedi, they can no longer harm us", or Vader surrendering (even if it is a fake surrender) just don;t quite feel right.
Still, they have been great, and hope it continues. Seems Lucasfilm may have loosened the strings where now there's more movie tie-ins vs. a completely obscure and independant "Luke saves the day" type story.

Well, it depends....
Republic #81 was scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 11. and it did arrive at most stores on that date. However, there were a series of errors at Diamond (the main supplier / shipper of comics) that factor in here.
1. A midwest shipping truck broke down and it delayed comics in the midwest a day (which is why I didn't get mine until today).
2. An error at one of the distribution centers shipped out some copies of Republic #82 to stores when it was Republic #81 that should have shipped. I just lucked out that one store recieved the issue that was intended to be out today and another got in the "early" shipping issue. Stores that received #82 this week are supposed to get #81 next week.

Loved to see more of the wookie battle. Also nice to see some of the nods to past Dark Horse storylines, and also I like how it directly ties into EPIII.
Can't wait or issue #83!!!!!
The comics have been fantastic as of late. Has the feel that Lucasfilm lightened up thier grip, and gave some freedom over the last few years, seem to be more movie tie-ins and directly related stories lately.

#83 is the last issue of Republic. It's ending. Empire is also ending with #40. Dark Horse is revamping their line in 2006, replacing Republic and Empire with KOTOR and Rebellion(which will continue some of the stories of Empire).

That's what I said. vos has become one of my favorite star Wars characters, EU or not. DH did a great job meshing out his character development over the last 5 years. I just wish that he could've had his own CW novel. I would have really enjoyed that read.
As for the fates of Rebellion and Empire, here's a quote from DH. com:

Neither creator can talk about it and can't until official word comes from Dark Horse. But according to a post from Jan's website, word should be coming soon.

I see that. What does that have to do with anything? Listen, I could care less where the info comes from. He gets the public list on Monday at 4:00 on Diamonds website. I get the vendors list on Friday at noon every week. I was just trying to pass on some info for the collecting community. I was not trying to diminish Corman's great contribution to the community, nor was I trying to upstage anyone. It's not even a big deal to me. i saw that no one had posted the new shipping lists, and decided to post it. that's it plain and simple.

Picked up Legacy #1. One of the best SW comics I've read in a while. Loved seeing the new Imperial designs, like the new Imperial Fighter, Officer Uniform, and Stormtrooper.

Mystery solved. The Dark Horse special is a pin up book where art teams switch characters they normally don't do. The Star Wars content is a sweet Darth Vader with Stromtroopers pin up by Eric Powell. Lots of other nice work in the book, too.

I feel the same way. I really enjoyed a number of the stories from Empire, so Rebellion seems like the only series I'll continue with. I only read it sporadically before, but now that I'm living in a larger city, I'd like to set up a file at a comic shop to keep up with it.

I went to the book store the other day to get Dark Horse's clone wars Vol 9. They said they have 2. I couldn't find it nor could the employees. Then I noticed that..was it
?legacy? has the same cover with vader on it and his hand reaching out. We looked at it on the computer and it showed each have the same cover art but different title..but they're not the same book right :-\?!
Anyway, was dissapointed..Vol. 9 is the only 'clone wars' Vol. I don't own yet.

Corman kills me every week because there's storylines I want to check out but I only buy now when they're compiled in a single book... I like that a lot. I'm hoping for some Empire and Rebellion books for the holidays actually.
KOTOR looks good though and was such a good game... I hope we get some Rep Commando stories sometime too.

I too would love to see some Rep Commandos stories, but with Traviss signed on for two more novels, I wonder if there would be problems with crossover...
I think that I'm going to have to ditch the single issues of Legacy here soon because I will definitely be buying the 'Broken' tpb when it comes out so there's no sense in me continuing to buy them as single issues. But I just can't get enough!

is it me or all current starwars comic book series have the same storyline?
KOTOR:
some Jedi on the run from the law,which ofcourse he is somehow on the wrong side there of. and can only turn to space pirates and crimnals for protection. and along the way the group will encounter future plot threads.
Dark Times:
some jedi whom survived Order 66 by tapping into the mysterious power of LUCK, finds himself allied with those guys from disneys Dinosaurs whom he was fighting days earlier and then depending upon space pirates whom are also attempting to thrive in the rise of the Empire.
Legacy:
Now heres where they get a lil inventive; some space pirate whom happens to have been a jedi whom is the great grand son of luke skywalker finds himself re-embracing his roots as a jedi to fight the new Sith Empire and protect jedi whom are on the run.

I only buy the "bound book" type comics... The ones that compile a bunch of the individual comics, of say Clone Wars, into one volume. Are those the Trade Paperback things? For the most part, the Trade Papaerbacks are what you are looking for. Those books are about the same size as the single issues. However, Dark Horse also has their Omnibus program. It is also a bound book format but it reprints material in a smaller size. The Omnibus releases are smaller in size (6" x 9") than the standard comic book or trade paperback release. This does not, however, affect the layout, coloring or lettering. For the most part the Omnibus are reprinting older Dark Horse material from the late 90's. The Omnibus material was also released in the Trade format at an earlier time, so you may want to check the content of the Omnibus to see if you have it already.
The MENACE REVEALED Omnibus reprints Star Wars #27: 'Starcrash'; Star Wars: The Hunt for Aurra Sing; Star Wars: Jedi Quest #1-#4; Star Wars Starfighter: Crossbones #1-#3; Star Wars Episode II Hasbro Minicomics #1-#4; Dark Horse Extra #35-#37; 'Heart of Fire' ; Dark Horse Extra #44-#47, 'Poison Moon.' This Omnibus is really one that I've been looking forward to as it quite a few hard to find material, including the Episode Two mini comics and the Dark Horse Extra strips. This is also the first time that Star Wars #27 (Starcrash) has been reprinted anywhere.

Anybody know much about the Titan UK Star Wars Comic series that is about to start?

Any ideas on how to get this in the US? I asked Sci-Fi Genre and they couldn't get it. I can't find a way on Titan's site to order one either. Are these going to be re-printed by Dark Horse at some point? My understanding is that their "Tales" line is mostly reprinted UK comics.

Maybe its just all the weird **** they're putting out these days makes me wonder if I'll ever read half of them. I'd be interested in reading more about Darth, Luke, etc., but it seems like a lot of what they put out is different series around their totally made up "The High Republic" multimedia project.

It seems every time I get caught up that a new batch arrives. Was just about to read Crimson Reign 5 to finish that series and probably another four or so issues showed up. I just have been behind on reading in general. I'm way behind on the novels. I'm still in the middle of the most recent High Republic novel that came out a while ago. Haven't even touched the Anakin/Kenobi novel or the new one with Luke and Lando. Hopefully I can get some reading time in on vacation in a couple weeks.
As for the comics, while there is a lot out there, many series are just five issues. However, keeping up with everything is difficult. Going through my subscriptions, I noticed there was a one shot Life Day comic about a year or so ago that I had to buy via ebay because it was completely off my radar when it was released. Only variant covers I keep up with are the John Tyler Christopher action figure covers. I figure those have to be winding down for the most part soon since he is getting pretty close to hitting all the vintage carded figures.
I guess one thing that makes it difficult to keep up is that we have Marvel, IDW, and Dark Horse again as publishers. I generally try to read everything, then bag and board them and put them in a long box. Space is becoming a premium.

Was there ever a comic adaptation of Rise of Skywalker? I thought one was in the works by Marvel, then when COVID hit, it got delayed and finally cancelled if I recall correctly. I did see there was a graphic novel adaptation version, but I passed since I didn't care for the art style. I have all the other movies in comic form, so I hope to get this one as well.

I don't believe so, which seems really weird, even to not do it after the fact. There is so much random stuff that I'm surprised they haven't come back to it.

The ROS adaptation got to the preorder stage, but was cancelled without much explanation some time during the initial covid lockdowns. It seems very odd to just ditch it regardless since it is only a few issues and I'm sure there was work put into it. Perhaps one day they will revive it.

Well, after collecting every Star Wars comic (not every cover variation) that they've made since 1977, I've finally thrown in the towel. I'm finishing out the current run of comics that started in 2023 and not starting any new series. Maybe I'll get some movie adaptations in the future if they ever make another movie, but I'm basically done. I've got boxes and boxes of comics (over 2000 comics) and it doesn't look like Marvel is stopping anytime soon, and creating all sorts of new stories (The High Republic) that I've really got no interest in. Just too much stuff.

Things From Another World sent out an email yesterday that they are completely shutting down on-line orders at the end of the month. If you have a subscription service with them, it is time to find an alternative.
