Title: EZBoards got Nuked
Post by: Scott on June 1, 2005, 05:00 PM
One of the larger free/cheap do it yourself forum server out there EZBoard got hacked in the last few days.  Quite a few places I skim through from time to time got large amounts of threads and data totally wiped from the planet

EZBoards are trying to fix it but little has changed yet that I can see, this is a lot worse than people realize it is, as months and years of posts could be gone forever :-\

Imagine Watto's without a year and a half worth of posts...wow :-[

The X-Treme Detail Military Collectibles boards used to be hosted through there since it's a relatively small and privately run community...  They have a separate forum now, but I can imagine the turmoil that would've caused.  Those guys go ape**** when their site's down, like it's crack.

There's some good modeling forums on there with lots of tips and tricks archived.  Sad if that stuff's lost from a customizer's standpoint.

That really sucks. It's nice having a few years worth of posts to go back and stroll through when I'm bored.

What would be worse than wattos being hit?

That's enough guys.  That's too frightening a prospect to even fathom.

So Ezboards is in no way affiliated with Proboards, right? Proboards just happens to be doing upgrades at the moment.

Simple news article: http://www.halifaxlive.com/artman/publish/ezboard_010605_7762.shtml

Gosh, I wonder how bad it was?  Could you notice any change to the Simpson board?

I can't even get that Simpsons board to load.

Some of the boards got entire sections wiped, some got the posts in threads wiped.

In the Simpsons board, you can see there are two threads from today and then a gap to April 2004

Memberships got erased, its a mess

I thought that would actually be a blessing...think of the crapfest of posts in there!

That sucks.  I used to go to that Simpsons board all the time.  It was one of the best sites out there IMO.  Hopefully they are able to fix things.

So is EZBoard now offline completely?  I haven't been able to view even their mainpage in almost 3 days.

Well, it looks like large portions of data were never backed up as some of the EZBoards I swing through have lost a lot of stuff.  Not cool >:(

Yup, I know some threads at some sites I liked are gone now and I don't have them copied...  Some good info from model-makers is long gone now, and that sucks.
