Title: DVD Burner Question
Post by: Jim on June 19, 2005, 06:19 PM
I picked up a burner a week ago and am just getting the chance to really mess around with it.  Im a newbie at all this but heres the question.  How do I make a backup of one of my DVD's.  All of these freakin things are protected.  Yet it states that it is okay to make a backup for your personal collection.  Which of course is what I am trying to do ;)

Essentially you need something like DVD-Decryptor to rip the disc to your hard drive (as a DVD folder) and then (if your burner is single layer) DVD Shrink to make it fit on a domestic single layer DVD+/-R.

Both of these are free.  More general advice can be found at www.videohelp.com

I downloaded DVD Shrink and it works like a charm.  Thanks!
