Title: Monthly Customizing Challenge #16 Mandalorians
Post by: Darth_Ennis on September 12, 2006, 09:35 PM
Well folks I guess its that time again. After quite a long hiatus, I would like to see if anyone would like to see the Customiser Challenge continue on.

Chewie currently has quite a few things going on right now, and will be unable to run this on a monthly basis. I have asked his permission to take up the mantle until his return and he has given his blessing.

So question one is, does anyone want to continue.

Question 2 is if so lets get the suggestions flowing.

If we decide to keep this going, September is half over now, we could have the due date be for the end of October.

What say you guys?

1)  We could make some figures to raise funds for the UGP

2)  We could make citizens of ourselves for the UGP Cantina

3)  We could do mandolorians
Those are just off the top of my head.

I'd be willing to try some Mandalorians...but I don't want all you guys hiking up prices for VOTC Boba's out there! ;)

How about doing some variations using some good old stormtroopers, they have not received as much attention as clones, jedi and mando's in a few years. I also think that stormtroopers would be a good base figure seeing as everyone has an extra stormtrooper to make fodder?

My vote is stormtroopers (not clones)  ;D

still throwing PT-OT bridge figures out there.... 8) anyone up for that?

transition stormies, aged obi wan, young luke, early rebel trooper,.... the possibilities are endless.

I like early rebels a lot!  Maybe we could use some in the UGP.  Plus, with all the new soldiers coming out(naboo/endor)  there'd be lots of fodder.

You know youre right, transition era Rebels are a subject that has NEVER been touched.

I say we go for this one, we can kill 2 birds with one stone here and do a project for the UGP as well.

I was going to start a seperate thread for a UGP challenge as well on the UGP board. What do you guys think?

I think the reason that transition Rebebls have never been touched is simply because there aren't any. The don't exist. The Rebel Alliance wasn't formed until a few years before ANH, so there wasn't any sort of organized resistance. Immediately following ROTS the vast majority of people supported the Empire. It was really only a select few in the Senate that opposed Palpatine and his rule. And at that point it was only political. It takes a siginificant ammount of time to build an underground army, especially one that could even remotely consider challenging the Empire.

I hate to be the nay-sayer but I vote against this one.

Post by: Commander_Miseria on September 14, 2006, 02:39 AM
Correction. We do not see a fully formed rebellion until ANH. Doesn't mean no rebellion took place at all...

If there were  anti-republic planets  (seperatist aligned or "neutral") during the clone wars what makes you think all the sudden they would stop putting up a fight after the clone wars? Just because the cowardly leaders of the seperatists were killed doesn't mean the actually people fighting for the cause would be any more cooperative with the republic.

Also, it is said that only a select few in the senate make their unhappiness with palpatine known, because during the clone wars being opposed to palpatines regime is considered treason.

And last but not least, one of the cutscenes from ROTS was an actual scene of padme having the rebllion explained to her by Mon Mothma and Bail Organa and being asked to join.

Take my word for it there was a rebellion 8)

So any other ideas gentlemen?

What I may probably do is start another thread over on the UGP board and have the topic be Early Rebellion and see about getting a few concepts for the UGP.

We will have this particular thread for the non-UGP custom Challenge. This way we will have more activities to do.

What do you guys think?

That's A Good Idea Considering The Era The UGP Is Set In. I Think Early Rebels Would Be Better Suited to Be In The UGP. I Say We Vote On A Different Theme For The
Non-UGP Contest and Let The Early Rebels Be Part Of The UGP. That Way You Can Do More than one Theme On Your Customs.

Looking over the votes on these last 2 pages, The Mandos win by a landslide. And seeing as how this idea has been floating around for quite a while I say lets give these guys a try.

Rules are the same as always. Due at the end of the month, submit as many designs as you want. Good luck guys I look forward to seeing these.

Somebody throw me a bone. Does the monthly challenge only pertain to figures we create during that particular month?

No Mike, it doesn't matter when you made it.  If it fits the category, post it!
Title: Re: Monthly Customizing Challenge #16 Mandalorians
Post by: Darth_Ennis on October 6, 2006, 12:01 AM
Well, not exactly. The puropse of the Customiser Challenge is to make a custom based on the theme of that particular month. This month the topic is Mandos so we work on that particular fig, posting WIps and what not and have it finished by the due date, which is usually thre last day of that month.

Anything that you have done before now doesnt count for the particular project, but I don't mind if you post pics.

Kewl, thanks for the clarification. I'll join in as I have an excessive amount of fodder. For giggles, here is a link to a Mando dio I did a little over a year ago

Mando Shelf (http://www.sarges-customs.com/shelvespast.htm#92697806)

and the Mandos I made for it:

Sarge's Mandalorians (http://www.sarges-customs.com/ffmandalorians.htm)

I'll jump in and see what kind of articulated Mando I can come up with. Look forward to some WIPs soon.

I've been thinking about this one.  I think I've got something in mind but I'm may be hard pressed to get it finished on time.  I'm going out of the country this week and will only have a limited time the next two weekends.  I'll try!

Hey, I remember those guys. :) Good to see you around again Kit. The seargent with the hoses is still my favorite.

Hows everyone coming along here. Due to an unforseen development (namely the fact that I lost my Mandos head!) mine has been delayed as well. Im hoping to get him finished in the next couple of days.

Does anyone else have anything to contribute?

Also, is there anyone interested in doing another Challenge for this month, or do you just want to extend this challenge until the end of November to give anyone else who needs more time the time they need.

The month I come back to customizing after about a 5 month break happens to be a customizing challenge of my favorite characters, the mandos! Well I don't have time to paint up a new one but if my thread is still here and the pics are still valid you all can check out my past mandos.

Nice ones so far people, I'm loving it.
