Title: Legacy Collection Pegwarmers?
Post by: David on August 1, 2008, 10:48 AM
I figured it was time to start a pegwarmers thread, since I've started to see a lot of the following since 7/26:

Obi-Wan Kenobi (3D)
Anakin Skywalker (3D)
General Obi-Wan Kenobi
IG Lancer Droid
Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter (Blue)
Evolutions Fett Legacy
Evolutions Padme

The Quad Cannon Trooper, Sandstorm Luke, and the Wokling are the only three figures I still haven't seen anywhere at this point.

Anyone else noticing any trends where they live?

There isn't much of anything Legacy around me. It's scant even for CW figs. Though the Fett and Sith repack EVO sets are def. pegging hard. I'm not counting Saga Legends (Legacy) in this as those are expected to peg a bit.

My WM just put out some figures, so they have a little, but it's by no means pegging. My local TRU only had ONE Legacy figure on the pegs. That was Yarna, but it was only ONE of here and none of the rest from waves 1 and 2. SO that's not bad at all, IMO.

It's pretty much every Saga Legends figure around here that's pegwarming, even the plain white clones.  I don't know what Hasbro was thinking doing a third assortment that is in the same type of packaging as the regular Legacy figures, but it looks like we're stuck with a pegwarming assortment again.  ::)

The animated figures are hanging around a bit more than the Legacy figures, although the only Legacy figures who are "pegwarming" right now (and I say that sparingly since we're only a week into the lines) are the Commander Gree rerelease, the EVO Trooper rerelease, and the Kashyyyk Trooper rerelease.  There are way more of those than any other Legacy figures.

Anything that's a repack has been peg/shelf warming since day one around here.

After taking a look at the stores this weekend, everything seems to be selling fairly well around here still.  The "Legends" stuff does seem to hang a bit longer than the new stuff, but there isn't necessarily a ton of that either.  Most of the Legacy Wave 1 and 2 stuff seems to be selling through, with Ak-Rev the only figure I've seen closer to "pegwarming".  The Animated stuff is doing well too, with Yoda and Grievous downright rare, but Anakin/Obi-Wan/Clonetrooper/Battle Droid fairly easy to find (but not in large numbers).

On a side note, I don't know about your areas - but here all three lines (Legacy, Clone Wars, and Legends) are all just stocked together on the same pegs.  So much for keeping things seperate.  It seems to be ok for now, but I sure hope that the later Legacy Waves don't get impossible to find due to pegwarming Legends or tons of Clone Wars figures (as they will likely get a big retail push with the series).

At this point, a couple months out from the release, I'm not sure what the pegwarmers are overall.  I think anything from Wave 1 from either line (Clone Wars or TLC) is pretty easy to find.  I haven't checked exact numbers, but they do seem to be fairly plentiful for the most part.  The Ewoks maybe are a little bit of a swifter seller, as is the Legacy Collection overall compared to Clone Wars.  Wave 2 of The Legacy Collection is showing up more regularly now, although those are a lot more scarce than either of the other waves so far (Wave 3 hasn't shown up here at all yet).  Of Wave 2, the Clones - particularly the Scuba clone - and SaeSee Tiin seem to be the toughest to find.

As far as the other lines, it seems like the Rebel Pilots 1 Evolutions pack is pretty plentiful at TRU - but I don't think WM or Target have any at all in our area.  Of the Battle Packs, the only one I ever see is the Hoth Recon Patrol - which was the one I was most excited about.  Every so often I'll see the Hoth Speederbikes pack, but pretty rarely.  I haven't seen the Clone Wars Speeder Bike Pack for quite some time now.  Vehicles all seem pretty consistent, with the V-19 being the toughest to find by far in the $20 assortment.  The Falcon and AT-TE do seem to both be selling decently, although you can find either pretty easily around here.  Anyways, just curious what everyone's retail situations were looking like a couple months out now.

I don't even pay attention, but I usually see everything everywhere.  Just looking for the blue eyes to finish out my final two from w3.

Yeah, I've been the same way lately.  I don't look too closely at what is or isn't there from the stuff I already have, just been on the lookout for the blue eyes as well.

Wave 1 (Legacy) is abundant here...  But beyond that, Legacy is moving steadily.  It's the Greatest Hits/Legends stuff and the 3D stuff that I see the most.  Legacy stuff though is going pretty decent, and even the Wave 1 stuff isn't ALL easy to find.  The Ewok especially is still tough to find, as is Luke.  Luke makes a bitchin' custom base and his hood/goggles are cool.  Good customizing figure or a figure just to buy twice to have him dueling or something.

Oh yeah, totally forgot to mention the Legends figures.  Those are everywhere, and take up the majority of the peg space at most stores (Target in particular).  Good observation Jesse, I have to say that I don't see the Luke quite as often either.

I mentioned this in the Clone Wars forum, but around here, Star Wars figures really seem to be selling pretty quickly these days (particularly the past couple weeks).  I mentioned the Clone Wars line in particular has really been picking up, but Legacy is doing pretty good as well.  I mainly frequent Targets, but I've seen it at all of the retailers around here.  The main pegwarmers for TLC at this point seem to be various "Legends" figures, and then Yarna, Ak-Rev, and occasionally Bane Malor from Wave 1.  Wave 2/3/4 are pretty much sold through here (4 hasn't shown up much yet though), and even the Han/Chewie/Luke/Ewok figures from Wave 1 are selling pretty quickly.
Title: Re: Legacy Collection Pegwarmers?
Post by: Jesse James on November 24, 2008, 11:45 AM
Sales do seem to be going ok...  CW3D it's tough to find any action-type figure, but R2's are wildly abundant.  I know my local WM has 4 pegs of just R2 hanging around.

On the Legacy side of things, and this shouldn't shock, there's lots of pegwarmers like Yarna, and the Weequay Drummer...  Also the wannabe Sgt. Doallyn is pegwarming here too.

The rest of the pegwarmers are mostly Legends figures.  Lots of Obi-Wan and Anakin...  Not so much Clones or SBD's, but the hero and villain characters are around like Grievous and whatnot.

I think all 3 lines are actually doing ok, which is surprising to me.  The CW3D figures don't seem to get restocked quite as much as legacy though, I've noticed.  They'll get a case here and there, but Legacy will get a full restock now and then it seems, filling the pegs...  CW is getting shafted at times I think.

It's really bad with the Legends figures around here, Gree and the Kashyyyk Trooper in particular. Next up would be Yarna and Ak-Rev. Everything else seems to move pretty well. I held off on buying Han, Chewie, and Luke from wave 1, and when I decided to get them, it took me driving to a small out-of-town WM to find them.

I have never seen Ahsoka at retail. I got mine from HTS. The CW stuff is in shorter supply than Legacy, to be sure.

I was at Target yesterday, and while looking at the sparse Star Wars section, I re-arranged things just to see what they had.  Its pretty bleak, and sales must have been quite good for the holidays so far.  They had one peg (probably 6-7) of the Legends repack Obi-Wan, one peg of Yarna (again about 6 I think), 1 each of Legends figures Mace, Plo, SBD, and Yellow BARC, 4 of Ak-Rev, and 2 Clone Wars Obi-Wans.  That was it.  Interestingly enough, aside from Battle Packs, the two Obi-Wans were the only CW figures there.  The vehicles seem to be selling well too.  I've seen the starfighter assortment restocked and sold through twice in the past couple weeks, and the Falcons and AT-TEs have nearly sold out as well (1 Falcon was there after being sold through recently).

Plo Koon!  That figure is everywhere in my area.

I see Wave 2 Obi-Wan, Quarren, And Mon Cal, but beyond that the Wave 2 pickin' list is slim.  I see almost no Scuba Troopers or Quad Gunners...  The Quarren and Mon Cal are actually not that abundant too, just usually two or so.  I see Padme probably as much as Obi out of that wave though.

I see lots of Wave 1 except Han/Luke who are more sporadic.

I see almost no Wave 3 and Wave 4 is non-existant for the most part.  Wave 3 you'll see more remnants than the wave itself.  I saw the Jedi 2-pack for the first time this week, and it looked like a case had just been opened of Wave 3 or a refresh mixed with some Wave 4.

The pegs are always packed each time I go in the stores. It's hard to notice who's pegwarming.
Title: Re: Legacy Collection Pegwarmers?
Post by: Brian on December 18, 2008, 04:02 PM
We were at Target yesterday, and the Star Wars section was pretty much a wasteland.  All the Falcons and AT-TEs were gone, and there were exactly three basic figures on the pegs - all Yarnas.  All the Legends, Bane Malors, Ak-Revs, and Clone Wars stuff has sold through and they were down to those three remaining Yarnas for the entire section.  Comic packs seemed to be almost sold through as well, as well as GH two packs, so the whole section mainly consisted of Transformers and the basic lightsabers.  They did have a couple $20 vehicles (all repacked ones), but that was about it.  Its nice to see Star Wars selling well, hopefully its not just happening here.

On another side of things, they did have the endcap packed absolutely full of the newer GH scenes (Carkoon, Geonosis, Vader's TIE), as well as the battle packs (mainly Obi w/Clones it looked like).  They still didn't have the Star Wars UBPs out on the floor, but the bottom of that display was full of the GI Joe ones - I don't think those have moved at all around here.

Walmarts and Targets in my area are almost out of SW figures... WOW!  And just 10 days ago you couldn't squeeze a single figure onto the pegs...

Looks like there will be lots of room for new product starting with the ANH wave...  ;D

The only figures I can find right now (most pegs are empty) are the Organas, Yarna, and Plo Koon. I hope they wait and restock with the ANH wave because I'd strangle somebody if we ended up with a ton of Saga Legends.

We just got some Wave 2 and Wave 4 in locally it seems...  Lots of the newest CW Wave as wel, though Dooku seems to move faster than the others right now ironically.  I see lots of all of them though.

The only big vehicle I now see is the Falcon.  All AT-TE's are gone from the local stores I visit.
Title: Re: Legacy Collection Pegwarmers?

Our WMs and Targets are pretty much sold out of Star Wars as well, or close to it.  The big vehicles are gone at both of those stores, although I visited TRU yesterday and they had 8 AT-TEs and 1 Falcon stacked above the main/front Star Wars display.  The comic packs sit a little more than the basic figures, and there seem to be Transformers and stuff like that everywhere.  TRU has the most stock in town right now, mostly TLC Waves 1 and 2, and a little bit of Clone Wars stuff.

Same in my area, but what's clogging the pegs are Saga Legends and those atrocious Marvel Mandalorian comic packs.  Believe it or not, I was in three stores (WM, Target, and TRU) today and NONE of them had ANY animated Clone Wars toys (not even the Battle Packs).  It was just gobs of Saga Legends and "Shield Generator Assaults" as far as the eye could see.

Loads of Legends here too...  We've seemingly got a healthy mix of everything though.

On comic packs though, I agree...  Marvel stuff sits a lot longer than anything Darkhorse does.  It's annoying too because some stores are laden with so many Marvel sets that it's gotta be holding up getting in newer packs.  I'm caught up, but I think I lucked into my finds.

Yeah, the Marvel packs have been stinking up the pegs since they were first introduced. Are there any more of these in the works? I'd like to see that "tired old dog" of an idea put out of it's misery...

I was at a WM, that I don't usually frequent, yesterday and the shelves were pretty bare, with three exceptions.  They had about 6 each of Yarna, Breha (sp?) Organa and Juno Eclipse.  I thought it was kind of funny those were the only three they had.

I've mainly been to Target lately, but like I've said earlier, they are pretty much sold out of almost anything SW-related (figure lines mainly, there are still things like Transformers, the Arena GH set, and now a few UBPs).  Battle packs are gone, $20 vehicles are gone, the "big" vehicles are sold out, and the figure section was bare except for 3 Yarnas.  That store has since gotten in one case of CW 3 the way it looked, as I saw a Dooku and a few others from that wave there last time I was in the store.  Otherwise, things have seemed to have sold quite well.

Targets have a TON of stuff here.  WM on the other hand is obliterated and has barely anything.  Even Yarna's not that abundant at WM.  Target though, you can get a ton of **** there.  I got a Grievous (Legacy) and IG-86 there just yesterday.  Wanted extras of both of those for sure.

AT-TE's are ALL gone though.  None...  Falcons, still around and even at $99.  I may get one at $99, I'm debating on this one now.  TE's though, are clearly the winner in my area.  I haven't seen one since November I think.

The Target's around here are pretty bear SW wise. Sure, there's some figures on the shelves, but they're 80-90% empty and there's little consistency as to what's left.

The two Targets closest to me each have about 4-5 Yarnas and 3-4 Brehas on the pegs and that's it.  Both have other clearance toys "flexed" into the SW space to help fill out the aisle...

Yarn clearly is 2008's Pegwarmer of the year. Bree would come in at #2. All stores got wiped out for the exception of Yarna, my local TRU has 5 full pegs of her. I crack up every time I see it.

My local WM has 8 Falcons left, I will start checking the price, I will pick up another Falcon if the price is $68 or less....

Like others, the pegwarmer of the year around here is definitely Yarna or Breha Organa.  The Target closest to us has one basic figure on the pegs, Yarna, and WM has a mix of Yarna and Breha (although they did seem to get another case of TLC Wave 4 in as well recently).  The BMF is sold out at Target and TRU, but its hit $99 at WM (3 of them left).  No signs of the AT-TE anywhere that I've seen.

I went to Target the other day. Currently, there are a few pegwarmers that stand out:

Yarna
Ak-Rev (There's still a 1st Day of Issue figure sitting there. Sad.)
Plo Koon (3D cartoon version) ???
IG-86
Padme (3D cartoon version)

And at $8.79, they're not going anywhere.

Although it varies a little bit store to store, I visited TRU today and counted up what they had for figures on the pegs.  Twenty three total basic figures, of those 12 were Yarnas, 5 were Legends Plo Koons, 5 were Clone Wars Oddball figures, and there was a lone Brainiac on the pegs.  Those have pretty much been the same figures they've had there for awhile, so the recent "2 for $11" sale didn't do a lot of good :).

I hit our local WM for the first time in awhile today, and it was pegs full of basically the same 6 figures: Yarna, Breha, Legends SaeSee Tiin, and the 3 Cantina Aliens from Wave 5.  They actually didn't have a single other figure on the pegs from any of the three lines at all, but the pegs were stocked full of these 6.
Title: Re: Legacy Collection Pegwarmers?
Post by: Jesse James on May 9, 2009, 03:26 AM
Around me, it's a mix...  Repacks of Wave 4 have now started chilling on the pegs too much with Wave 5 remnants.  While the Spacetroopers are all gone, all the other figures of the wave (well, nix that, Kenobi and Jawa are both gone too) are available.  Luke/Han Stormie are equally bad pegwarmers to the Cantina guys.

TONS of Legends everywhere though Plo Koon and Sae Sae are the most abundant.  Still, I see lots of everyone else.

I also see tons of CW figures, everywhere...  I know Hasbro says they're selling great, but I think they're starting to stall a little too.  Clones seem to move better, as do Obi/Ani/Ahsoka...  I see lots of Grievous, lots of Destroyer Droids, lots of Dooku...  That line's got its pegwarmers for sure.  SBD's galore too...  The regular BD moves as well as the Clones though.

What I'm shocked at is how quickly, and seemingly thorough, the repaint wave of Legacy figures sold.  Those were in/out in no time and never seemed to get repacked.  I bet that's the most uncommon BAD figure out there.  I would've liked a few more Engineers I think.

I cry bullsh*t on the whole pegwarmer thing.  Sure, my TRU has a 15-20 Yarnas, but the rest of the 30 pegs are empty.  No CW, No Legends, No DF.  Nothing. Target is simalar, but not as extreme.  I guess we're supposed to buy Wolevrine and Transformers this summer.

Man I hate Wolverine ****...

Oh well, I'm a collector, I'll buy it.  ::)

Seriously I'm depressed I can't find Wave 6.  The first great rebel soldier ever, any movie, and I can't find the damn thing!?  That's typical!

I bet if they made a new Fleet Trooper it'll be 1 to a case and only shipped in the western 1/3 of the U.S. or something.  And only for 2 weeks.

But it will be the greatest figure in history.  It will even have God's stamp of approval somehow.
