Title: 2011/2012 GI Joe Club Figure Subscription Service Figures
Post by: efranks on October 19, 2011, 07:32 PM
Club announced another subscription figure today, Dice.

We now have Quarrel, Nano BAT, Topside and Dice.  I'm guessing Slice will probably be one of the figs also.

I have read this list was the rumored list from member Monster monkey on another site:
Quote
There was a list of rumored sub figures circulating around, Topside was on it, along with Jinx, TNT(foreign Blowtorch repaint), Dice, Iron Klaw (there was a proto of him made up a few years ago), Barrel Roll, Sure Fire, Tan Grunt, Cover Girl,
Big Boa, and the already revealed Quarrel and Nano-BAT. Can't remember if they shot down this list or not.

I hope we keep seeing more of these figures in some pics so I can decide if I am in or not - Dice does look pretty decent

I saw that list before Topside and Dice were revealed, so I'm guessing it's legit and I'm in. Mostly for Jinx and Cover Girl.

Tan Grunt with a glider revealed today.  So far I think that leaked list is 5 for 5.

I'm also going to update on what Paul wrote the other day about the sub.  The last word from the Club is that the sub will be 6 months long and there will be 2 figures per month for a total of 12.  If you subscribe and buy all 12, you get a 13th figure for free.

The 12 basic figures will be announced prior to the sub starting but the 13th will not be.

Last I knew there was no firm price from the Club, only speculation.  Also, you will be able to buy single figures without being subscribed, but they'll be very limited per last word from the Club.

Oh, and you have to be a Club member to order the sub and, I believe, the single figures.

Pic of the Tan grunt please?  I think maybe myf avorite, and most short-lived vehicle, were the two original gliders.  I had the cobra, and my bro had the Joe, and we had a big field to play with them in...

Mine lasted, oh, bout a week.  My bro's made it maybe a month because he was more careful.

Thanks Eric.

Not as cool as I was hoping, but neat.  Kind of lame weapons though.  Blech.  Definitely needing some Marauder hardware.

Wow.  That dude looks evil.  Legs look familiar.  So glad I never read comic books or I'd probably want this guy.

pretty sure the legs are from that Destro that came in a comic pack with the IG soldier.

so anyway, after I posted this last night I was actually getting in to the fact about ordering all of these - then I went to the website and read this...

Quote
The Figure Subscription Service (FSS) is only available to Officer Level (paid) members. Trooper Level members will need to upgrade to be eligible. The FSS is an optional feature and is not included in the cost of your annual GIJCC membership. Keep watching this website for more of our exclusive figure updates!

So I have to pay for a membership, $42, just to even have the opportunity of getting these!?!?!?!  I'm not feeling it so much anymore...  I guess, if I understand correctly, I would also get Footloose by doing this...   hmmm, gonna have to wait for more details.  It really comes down to cost per figure for me here.

I buy Joe stuff, but for my son.  He's only 4-1/2 years old, so I'm not paying premiums for stuff like this.

However, I wish they did something like this for Star Wars... would be nice to get some more obscure characters out there this way that might otherwise never be made.

I'm still debating. If I do subscribe, I have to buy the membership first.  I want Footloose, so that works.  I still need a Grunt figure and although I would much rather prefer a green one, the tan one works.  Topside is ok, I guess.  He came out when I started to get out of Joes when I was younger, so I have no real attachment to him.  At least he looks like his RAH figure and that's one of the big keys on which figures I decide to buy.

With Jinx, I want her red hooded look from RAH and what she wore in the movie while hooking up with Don Johnson.  Other than her, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, I really have no love for the ninjas, so Slice isn't grabbing me.  Iron Klaw, while cool looking, is from a bad time in Joe lore with the whole Extreme! ****.  I get the nostaliga with the foreign figures, so Quarrel is worth it to have, even though she is really plain looking.  I have no desire for neon green BAT, but at least it's an army builder that I can hide behind the other BATs I have.

I think the two figures that will sway me into buying are Cover Girl and Big Boa.  Depending on what they look like (especially Cover Girl) will decide if I'm all in or not.

I'm in the same boat. There are only a few of the guys I want, but I figure I can sell off the ones I don't want and will keep the ones I do and at least break even.

That's interesting because I think Jinx is the best figure they've shown yet.  I think it's a good use of the City Strike Scarlett figure and as I said in another thread somewhere, it feels like a POC/30th update for her more than a 25th update.  She's headed for a team-up with Helix in my universe.

And I'm hoping for good things with Cover Girl who, seeing as the leaked list has been dead on, should be popping up any day now.

Covergirl I'd be all over too, she was a fav of mine even though i didn't own her figure for a while.  I always dug her for some reason though as a kid.  My brother had her, and she was a cool rarely used female character with a sort of cooler outfit.

I just didn't like the Jinx because I prefer her with the hood and stuff.  She looks ok for what she is, just not my fav outfit for the character.

Not liking TNT at all. South American junk. Sure Fire is up now, and while he looks better than TNT, I would have preferred the blue and black version. The Club really seems to have a thing for brown figures.

At this point, all I'm interested in owning from this set are Cover Girl and Big Boa, and we haven't even seen them yet.

Those two are really going to have to blow me away to even consider buying a subscription and even then, I doubt I will.  Just too much junk, especially at $20 a pop.

I would have to agree with this. I'd also keep Topside and Iron Klaw, but the rest are just not my cup of tea. I understand the Club trying to cover as many bases of the fandom as they can with the tooling and characters Hasbro will let them do, but price each also needs to be considered, as well as interest. As I've heard, you need to be an Officer to even have the opportunity to buy these, and there's only about 3,000 of us suckers if I've heard right, so these might be some really small runs here. Probably less than even Dial-Tone, so maybe they'll pay for themselves when some of these lame figures get unloaded. [/speculation]

I just don't know anymore. I see this as a great opportunity to get some really neat stuff were they to continue this another sub, and who knows? If the next movie fails to ignite interest in Joe, maybe this will be the only way to get new Joe stuff after the next movie runs its course, kind of like MOTU.

I'm liking several of the ones that you aren't, so if splitting a subscription might interest you feel free to drop me a PM.

Some of the figs look like winners, others seem like stinkers. I'm dreading what the prices will be, and I hope they won't charge shipping every two months.

I dunno, man. I was hoping Cover Girl would be a winner, but now I think I might have to pass on the sub and just try to get iron Klaw on his own. None of theses figures are worth what they're going to ask. Disappointing, but it is what it is. Bet I just saved myslf hundredes, though.

This is the same head as the one from the comic pack that came out in 2006 and it's actually not that bad looking.  The hair does look a little off in that photo but that doesn't mean all the figures will look like that.

But what I don't care for that much is the shade of color used for the hair.  It's too orange.  If they'd gone blonde or auburn I'd be more happy.  I can understand them not going red since that's more Scarlett than CG, but the red they used on Sparta was better.  They were probably looking to not confuse anyone, though.

This was the figure I was most looking forward to seeing, the one that would probably help me nail down whether or not I'd buy the full subscription and after seeing her, while she's not terrible, there isn't a WOW factor.  I think I like Jinx the best of what's been shown.  I'm not expecting much from Big Boa and even though the 13th figure is a secret, since we're getting Dice would it be out of bounds to think the final figure is Slice?

Overall I like Jinx the best.  I also like Sure Fire, Barrel Roll and Grunt.  I don't really care about the BAT, Dice or Iron Claw that much, TNT is probably my least favorite and I'm kind of indifferent on the rest.

At this point I don't know if I can justify the buy-in for the 4 figures that I'm the most excited about.  I'd also really like them loose and hate that we're probably paying something of a premium for them to come carded.  I'd prefer loose/boxed like the membership figures.  I like to keep exclusives carded so I was thinking about trying to buy extras of the ones I wanted to open, but now I'm thinking I'd be better off not getting the sub, buying dupes of the 4 or 5 figures I really like and skipping the rest.

I guess at this point I need to see the final pricing on the subscription.  Or maybe I should just abandon SW and switch to Joe?  Or maybe I should buy the sub and sell off the figures I don't want and hope they go for enough to recoup at least their share of the sub price.   :-\

Other than the length of hair, I like it.  CG always had a shorter hair-did to me since her original figure was that way.

I like her a lot...  I won't get her since I'm not getting these sets, but I dig her.

And just when you thought you had your mind made up they had to go and throw this piece of awesome-ness in the the mix....

looks like the helmet must be removable because that looks like a different mask at his feet to me.  Unless it is just an accessory - hopefully not a pointless one.  It would be kind of cool to make some schmo sparring partner for him to wear this and get the crap kicked out of him.

sounds like it does fit:

You can't join online right now.  The only way to sign up is to mail a check or money order to the Club.  If you've never been a member before, get on the phone now and speak to them and see if you can arrange something.  You have to have payment in to them by the 16th so you need to have it in the mail ASAP (tomorrow).

If you're currently a member, you should have gotten an reminder envelope in the mail that you can use to send payment.

Email from the club...

We have been working diligently to get a replacement store online for you.  This is still in progress.  However, we are ANTICIPATING that a temporary solution will be available later today.  This is a totallly new website, with totally new software, at a totallly new provider.  This commercial software has hundreds of stores and is fully PCI and PCI DSS complient.  Their facility has been described to me as a military grade security facility.

Do not go to the old store site.  I will provide you with the new url for this system in a later email and we will change the links at that time.

In addition, we have figured out a way to extend this month's deadline for a few days (because of the new software).  We are extending the deadliine date to Wednesday, March 21st, at 5pm central time in order for all of the mail that is enroute to arrive.

However, this will effect EVERYONE'S monthly magazine.  The April issues will be approximately 7-10 days late.

Also, we will not be able to reinburse anyone who spent money on expediting renewals to us.

We again apologize to everyone for all of the issues we have been having.  We think that you will be very pleased with the new features this store will offer you.

Brian

Got an email from the Club tonight...

SURPRISE! This week we started mailing the FREE membership figures for 2012!  We were able to get these manufactured much earlier this year, so off they go to you!  It will take several weeks for them to reach all of the membership, so please be patient.  If you don't receive your figure by the end of May, please let us know.

Then there was more stuff about the fraud issue, renewals, blah blah blah. No word on the FSS and no further info on Joecon. But I'm still geeked about the figures going out already.  ;D

I ordered Footloose but I can't wait for them to get their store back online because I really want to order the Man of Evil and his accessory set.  With this whole CC fiasco it got me a little pissed off that I might end up not being able to pick one up for some reason.

I'm not too worried about the FSS.  I still think it'll run, maybe later than originally planned, or that the figures will come out in some other way if they do scrap the FSS.  Joe Con, no worries on that.  The email said they'll have con registration up soon.  And they'll have to, we're less than 3 months from the actual event and there's no way they don't go through with that.

I just figured out mine is also missing some accessories. Tried emailing the club, but nothing yet. Might have to buy another one to get a complete one. *sigh*

37 pages of fun on tfw...haven't checked out HISS though....

Transformers collectors' club (official)
due to the high bandwidth demand for the transformers' club and botcon products, we have been forced to take the store server for the transformers' and g.i. Joe collectors' clubs offline. The system our new store software was installed on will not support the bandwidth demands that are being placed on it. The store software company will be moving us to a different server with more capacity.

So, the transformers and g.i. Joe collectors' club stores will be offline for several days. We will let you know when we are operational again.

Thanks for your patience and support.

If you received a confirmation email or see a charge on your credit card, you have a good order in the system. This move will not affect any order that went through.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your enthusiasm about these products.

Did they try to sell the extra membership figures? The demand for Footloose alone could have crashed Amazon.

I didn't know they were even putting the GI Joe store back online, I thought it was just the Transformers site.  I didn't even look at it, I need to get in and get my Man of Evil!

FSS is live!

A VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE G.I. JOE COLLECTORS’ CLUB. Re: FSS

The launch of the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Figure Subscription Service is imminent; we will notify you the link when we make the service active. While we are loading the final details, here are some things to remember:

1. You must be a member of the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club to take advantage of the Figure Subscription Service.

2. There is NO reason to rush the site or be in a hurry as this is a build to order system. We will build as many as you order, so we cannot run out. YOU CAN ORDER AS MANY AS YOU WANT, there is no limit.
3. What you do need to be concerned about is the closing date of the subscription service, which ENDS on September 4th at midnight.

4. You can either pay In Full or by Installment. There will be 3 installments. When you subscribe and choose pay by Installment, you will be billed for the first two months’ shipments. Then sometime during the second month, you will be billed for the 3rd and 4th months’ shipments and sometime during the 4th month you will be billed for the final 2 months’ shipments.

5. Your free surprise 13th figure will come with your final shipment during the 6th month.

6. The figures will be shipped in random order. All members receive the same figures each month. The figure pairings will not be preannounced. So if you don’t mind, when you get your shipment each month, PLEASE do not go online and tell what you received. We want each shipment to be a surprise for as many members as possible.

7. The cost is $294 if Paid In Full (plus shipping) or three Installments of $98 (plus shipping). Please note that there is a $3 online processing fee for each billing. We take Visa, Discover or MasterCard. Unfortunately we cannot accept Money Orders or Checks for this offer.

8. If you pick a shipping service that does not include insurance or if you don’t pick the insurance, we do not have any responsibility for replacement of lost or damaged or misdirected orders.

9. If you move or need to change your credit card during the program, you can log into your account and change it there. This will change all of your future FSS billings and shipments. We will also be sending you reminders to check your address and cc before each billing/shipment goes out. We are not responsible for shipments that are lost due to incorrect shipping information on file.

10. We are waiting on the final schedule from China so we don’t know exactly when the first figures will ship. We hope it will be by Christmas. We will announce this as soon as we get the final schedule.

11. Some of the figures (single figures) MAY be available in the Club Store after the subscriber’s figures ship. These will be at a price of $32 per figure. There is no guarantee of availability of any of the figures in the club store. If you want to ensure getting these limited edition figures, you need to subscribe to the service.

/ Considering I paid $40 for Jinx and Zarana, $30ish for these doesn't seem so bad. After missing Voltar and Darklon, I think I'll grab this sub.

I decided that I am going to do this even though I only want Big Boa, Cover Girl, Topside, and Sure Fire.   I would try to trade the rest for Joes I don't have.  But for $294  :P and Membership fee (which I don't have) It going to suck but it beats paying $100 for Big Boa.

And, right on cue, another personal info debacle:

Buyers Beware!

Apparently the Club is getting addresses/confirmations confused from the Joe and TF subs. What a bushleague operation.

I was considering buying Voltar and Darklon for more than  $100 each on ebay, and it appears that might be the smartest thing to do to acquire Big Boa. There's just no way I can willingly give them any card info, outside of using one of those reloadable deals.

Just tried to subscribe, and both my cards were declined. Obviously a problem on their end, but considering all the roadblocks thrown up in my way, it's fate telling me not to sub, so screw it.

I really wanted a bunch of these figures, but from these bushleaguers? Well, they can just take a long walk off a short pier, and take Iceberg with them. I'm done with them.

Got this email the other day:

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

This is going out to everyone who subscribed to the GI Joe Collectors' Club Figure Subscription Service.

If any of you have moved since you placed your subscription order it's time for you to update your new address!

Please click here to log in and check your account!

We are anticipating that the first two figure shipment will ship before Christmas so that means you have until December 2nd to update your address. After that date, we do not guarantee that your shipment will go the correct address.

In order to get all of the orders out the door in one week, we need to start the printing and prep for all of the orders we received starting on December 3rd.

Provided that our shipment from China is not delayed, we are working on getting all orders out the door before Christmas. We will hopefully start sending them out the week before Christmas.

For those of you who have purchased on the installment plan, we anticipate that the second billing will take place in mid-January so we will give you updates as soon as we know the final schedule.

Thanks for all of your support and we hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season!

Brian

PS. If you have any questions, you can use the link at the bottom of the log in page to contact customer service.

So I have to ask: reveal the figures we get in this thread, or start a spinoff spoiler thread?

Don't know if it matters.  I'm sure that the at least one or two of the Joe sites will be posting the info as soon as they have it, trying to be the first to break the news.  So, if you follow them on Twitter or read their news pages, you'll probably see it before it hits here.

I don't really think it's that big of a deal.  I say post it here.

Since we know all the figures but the 13th, it's just the order that's going to be a surprise so my thought is it's not that big a deal.  But I would like to be surprised by the final figure.

I vote keep it here, but have no problem not spoiling it for others by wating 2 or 3 days after mine arrive to talk about them, unless they're mentioned somewhere else.

Over the next week, we will be showcasing all of the figure mock-ups for FSS 2.0, please keep in mind that these are photoshop comp images and the final versions will vary. There still could be some changes in accessories and figure bodies as well.
The FSS 2.0 subscription set will consist of twelve different carded 3 3/4" figures.  You will receive six shipments starting in approximately September/October of two figures each month.  Figures will be shipped in a surprise sequence (figure pairs will be the same for everyone each month).  It will be a surprise each month as to which figure pair you receive!   Your last shipment (6th shipment) will include your mystery carded 13th figure!

The limited edition GIJCC Figure Subscription Service contains a variety of fan requested characters from all eras of the 3 3/4-inch G.I. Joe A Real American Hero collection. The assortment includes 25th Anniversary style figures of characters from the classic 80's, 90's, new-sculpt, foreign editions, and unreleased 25th Anniversary characters as well.

Each single carded action figure features the highly articulated modern era sculpts with weapons and accessories to accomplish any mission.

Includes: pistol, binoculars, flare gun, coffee mug, CVN 99 flag with pole, and figure stand.

The cost of the 12 figure subscription service is $306 (+ shipping for 6 shipments).  You can pay all at once or in three installments of $102 (billed to your credit card). When you subscribe and choose pay by Installment, you will be billed for the first two month's shipments.  Then sometime during the second month of shipping (October/November), you will be billed for the 3rd and 4th months' shipments and sometime during the 4th month of shipping (December/January) you will be billed for the final 2 months' shipments.

Please note that for the installment payment option there is a $4 service charge per billing while the pay in full option has one $4 service charge.  Please also note that for installment buyers, there is an additional charge each time a billing is attempted if your card is not approved.  If your card has been declined and we have to rebill, we will only be able to retry your billing three (3) times before your subscription is cancelled.

Each retry has an additional fee added to your total charge (please see the Terms and Conditions.) For example when the second and third installments are billed, if your card fails, the first time we retry will carry a $4 service fee, the second time will carry an $8 service fee and the third time will carry a $12 service fee.  If it fails at that point, we will cancel the subscription.

We have found that the majority of the problems is because the billing address entered doesn't match your credit card statement.  Please check your statement and enter your billing address exactly the same as your statement, even if you don't agree that this is your correct address.

This Figure Subscription Service is a "build to order process" so you can order as many as you like, until the order period closes. At that time, we will not process anymore subscriptions and we may/may not have additional figures in the club store at a higher per figure price.

The order period is from May 1 through May 22nd.  You can check out the pictures and order link at GIJoeClub.com.  If you have any questions, please let us know and we will answer them in the FAQs at GIJoeClub.com.

Enjoy!

Brian

No interest, eh? I didn't sub this time, preferring instead to preorder the figures I wanted from BBTS. I like the idea, but it's just too expensive for what are just really expensive Frankenjoes.
