Title: 6" Black Series Wave 1 (2013 Wave 1)
Post by: Jeff on January 29, 2013, 01:01 PM
Wave 1, due in late July (maybe even as soon as SDCC) or August.

- X-Wing Pilot Gear Luke Skywalker
- R2-D2
- Darth Maul
- Imperial Sandtrooper

Hmmm.  I've got to wonder how they'll offer Darth Maul.  Will it be a traditional TPM version?  Or could we be looking at a Clone Wars rendition of Maul?  The recent events on CLONE WARS would make a CW version rather topical.

Yeah, I think it's a bizarre 1st wave offering. 3x ANH figures (R2 could be a PT version, I suppose with booster rockets) and 1x Maul.  I would have gone with Tatooine Luke before X-Wing Luke and Vader before Maul, Stormtrooper before Sandtrooper... but we'll see.  I'm anxious to see how these turn out.

All three OT figures will be easily modded for easy customs.  I'm down for at least 3 of each. Maul is the only one that won't yield parts to be able to reused for different future figures.

Haven't you heard, guys? As of TCW, Maul is the new Vader. ;)

I'm actually really excited about this line. A little pricey, but that's expected. I have no doubts that this line will be a success. I just hope they have no intention of canceling the 3 3/4" figure line, though.

I'm going to be really selective on these...maybe just the Bounty Hunters or something like that. But that X-Wing Luke looks fantastic.

Ok, that Luke looks pretty great.  If I'm honest with myself, I'm sure I'll be picking up at least some of these, but I'm wondering about the future of the regular (3 3/4" line).  That's another topic I guess, but as far as this new line - it does look pretty nice.  I'm guessing we'll see at least Wave 1 at Toy Fair, so I'm looking forward to that.

I am going to past on these I think...and question why did hasbro do a 6" line ?? I mean they look awesome for 6 " collectors. I want them to focus on the 3 3/4 line and did they (hasbro) complaint about the cost of plastic and they make these.

Just a photoshopped mock-up of R2 (too big), but I thought it was interesting nonetheless...

Luke looks great, R2 looks great, but there's something about the Maul figure that bothers me. And that's the one I wanted the most, too!!!! >:( Maybe it's the headsculpt. Doesn't look much like Ray Park. I kinda wanted alternate hands with these figures, too, but I gotta remember these aren't Sideshow Collectible figures. Getting all those extra accessories would make these cost more.

R2, though... R2 looks awesome.

Pretty please, with the Darth Vader soon.

I think I'm probably all in on these, at least for the OT figures.  The ones we've seen look pretty amazing (I especially like R2, with Maul being the weakest I think too), and I like the whole 3 to 1 OT to PT ratio they are going with.  That's about right.  I still feel that the heart of Star Wars action figures should be 3 3/4", and I'd definitely be more upset about this scale if they said the new movie(s) were going to have their entire lines be 6" with no smaller scale stuff, but as its own seperate line, I'm ok with it.

Plus, the way I look at it, it isn't like they are doing things that we need in the 3 3/4" line.  We have fine versions of Luke X-Wing, R2, Sandtrooper and Maul already, so these don't interfere with that.  It will be nice to have a shelf of the OT characters in this scale...I'm actually pretty excited about these, but that may be the minority here on the forums.  It may just be due to most of the 3 3/4" stuff being stuff we've seen before, but these (along with the exclusive vehicles/packs) were the most exciting stuff for SW from Toy Fair I thought.

I'm thinking the same thing... it was one thing when I thought Star Wars was possibly running out of steam, but with 3 to 5 movies on the horizon and new ownership, it's time to heavily reassess what I collect.

I can't imagine another 20 years of doing this.

I'm out...  I'd rather put $ into SS 12" figures if I wanted a scale shift.  They're nice, but I'm sticking to my guns and not buying into a collection of these.

Bossk/Tarkin/Fleet Trooper would be the only 3 on my radar, and of those only Bossk is who I'd buy without thinking about it (Bossk's Bungalow).  The other 2, unless they're really something special, I wouldn't buy them either.

I've always passed on SS stuff because a scale shift isn't in the cards for me right now.  I'm still hashing out how to display my 3.75" figures the way I'm happiest....  A whole new display area with a whole new scale, no way.

These look good, Maul is a really bad sculpt. His lightsaber is really out of scale, the blade has to be 5" thick...
Interested series though, hope the price point is around $15 but more likely $20.
Come on Imperial gunner...

I'm not sure if anyone has seen the production photos of R2.  It's really lacking in detail an paint.  I'm getting very torn about this line.  When it was first announced, I was 100% in, but after seeing some product I am not too sure.  Here's the thing, for 20.00 I expect something "better" than what I get for 10.00.  Not just bigger.  I juts don't know if these are worth 20.00.  When Sideshow announced that they were making 12 inch SW, I was all in.  But then I saw that the human faces were sometimes lacking.  For 130-150.00 I expect top notch work.

I think that's maybe why I like the small figures. I accept the flaws and shortcoming because there's only so much that can be done for 10.00.

Who knows.  I might flip out and love the 6 inch figures in the store.

Target's reset is next week so we should see wave 1 on the shelf soon. I know my store is showing them on hand but not in the back room. Makes sense since all the new toys are palletized to make pushing the new product easier. I'll post pics once I have my 4, prob later next week.

Much to my chagrin I really like these.

I picked up the Luke, Sandtrooper, and the Maul. Passed on R2. Not sure any of them are worth $20 each, but R2 is just too little.

The Sandtrooper is gorgeous. I really like Luke other than the way his legs meet his torso. Maul is nice.

I didn't originally plan on buying Maul, but once I saw him in person, I immediately nabbed him.  He looks great.  Picked him up along with R2 at TRU last weekend.  What's even better is that they had the BOGOHO sale.  Since I plan on getting a few Stormtroopers from Wave 3, I passed on the Sandtrooper.  I wasn't very impressed with Luke.

I picked up the Sandtrooper and Darth Maul from Target this morning. They are REALLY nice figures, but unfortunately I think they are terrible overpriced. I feel like I would have gotten more bang for my buck from single carded figures, even with those being expensive nowadays. These really should have been priced around $15; I think that would have made a world of difference.

Nah 6" is way too big to army build for me.  I'd never consider it at any price really.  OT only I would consider though.

My big hump I can't get over is that I've seen like Boba in person and he's not better or worse to me than my VOTC figure of Boba.  With sideshow I see significant differences and it is really a separate and unique thing but with the 6" figures they're just taller.  That's probably more a hurdle for me than price.  If they were like miniatre Sideshow figures I'd have more curiosity, but that's not their intent either ultimately.

I think I feel similarly. These 6" figures aren't a drastic improvement over the 3 3/4" counterparts. The sculpts appear better on the 6", but that just might be an effect of the larger size. There is better articulation on the 6", but I find it gets impaired by the sculpt more than on 3 3/4" (the double hinged knees and elbows on the Sandtrooper, for example). Another downside is that paint flaws stand out more since the figures are bigger. My Sandie has a huge black paint spot on one forearm, and Maul had the yellow from one eye placed outside of the sculpted eye area.

Not to sound totally one-sided, here are couple of things I do like about the 6" figures. The "rocker" ankle joints and combination ball joint and hinge neck are awesome. I would love to see the ankles applied to more 3 3/4" figures, and the neck articulation applied to select Star Wars and GI Joe figures. The weathering style on the Sandtrooper is also nice and much better than anything Hasbro has done in the smaller scale.

I just want to hold one of these dadgum things in my hand so I can decide if I'm in or out once and for all. I feel like they should have some heft...if these are dinky, hollowed out versions I feel like I would be more reluctant to jump in. I can;t say for sure until the Moment of Truth.

I scored 3 of them today at Target - surprisingly the R2 was the only one missing.   :P

Luke is spectacular with tons of detail.  The Sandtrooper is cool, but a little too much on the weathering in my opinion.  Maul looks great, but is my least favorite.  I'm just soft on the PT these days.  $60 for three figs was a bit of a pill to swallow, but I'm guessing we will see these on sale for $15-18 somewhere down the road.

Yeah, I got tired of the same sad whipsong too, looking for these with no luck. The first place I checked today had an aisle location but they were sold out, none in the stockroom. The next two places I checked had NA for aisle location but YES for stockroom, so I knew they were lurking back there somewhere.

So tonight I went back out to the Target near my house which hasn't even started to reset and just used the DPCI trick to have a fresh case pulled from the stockroom. It does indeed sound like these are 1 case per store initially, eesh. I grabbed the Sandtrooper and let them keep the rest. I guess I could have gone for them all but I really am still not sold on jumping all in on this line and $80 seems like a lot when you're still on the fence. I am sorta hopeful these will hit sales at some point this year too.

This is a line you would definitely have to open to fully appreciate, IMO. I had no qualms about ripping into Sandy because he's the litmus test for me. He's pretty kick ass. Not perfect, but it just feels like a great SW toy in your hands. I'm pretty sure I would have loved this as a kid.

I would say my main complaint is those awkward pin joints. Man, those things look ugly and seem unneccessary. I wish they had designed something different for the elbows and knees. It just feels like the extremities could be easily detached with a bit of force or strain over time.

And yeah, a stand would have been nice too. Good luck getting Sandy to stand upright with that huge ass backpack!

Overall I would say I'm pretty impressed but not so blown away that I'm ready to sign on totally. It would be nice to know how many figures we can expect per year, three or four waves seems like plenty. Any more than that would get unwieldy quickly.

So...I went to the Target near my office over lunch and they had just put the new stuff out. I caved and got Darth Maul because he looked pretty cool.

Then later this evening I returned the 2 Class II ships I had bought on clearance in exchange for a brand new X-Wing Luke.  ::)

Yep, I'm a degenerate.

It's only a matter of time before R2 makes his way back here and then I'm straight hooked.

Yes, R2 was the least enticing of the lot, IMHO. I definitely agree the scale is glaringly inaccurate. When you hold that thing in your hand it just seems dinky compared to the others. Astromechs should have been 2-packed.

The big problem with finding this wave is that most stores, at least here locally, are only getting 1 case in, and each character ships 1 per case.  Nabbed a Sandtrooper today at Target.  I love the weathering on him, really nice.

Definitely some variances in quality, I returned my X-Wing Luke for a better copy because he had jacked up legs. There was an ugly gap between them and the torso that I confirmed was not on other figures.

Still content to wait on R2 for the time being I think.

Opened my set of these today, and I have to say I like them quite a bit.  Like others have said, these would feel like a pretty good deal at about $15.  $20 still seems a little high - they are great figures, but I don't see that they are higher quality than Marvel Legends at $15.  I'm pretty sure I'm hooked for the time being, at least on the OT figures.  The 3 3/4" stuff is still the bread and butter, and I hope it never goes away (collector styled or just in general), but these are pretty nice.

I think part of it is the excitement of looking forward to each character again, similar to when POTF2 began.  Now we can have that anticipation for Darth Vader, Han, Chewie, etc. and not think "wow, another Vader" like we sort of do with the 3 3/4" line.  As has been noted elsewhere, they're not perfect (and a little too high priced), but I look at this sort of a nice alternative for someone like me who admires the Sideshow line, but can't afford it.  Larger "collector" figures for someone on more of a budget.

I do think this line is going to be pretty popular though, just have a feeling.  Like I said, 3 3/4" is still the base of the SW line in my book, and always will be...but this offers a nice jumping in point for people new to Star Wars, or returning.  Plus the fact that it has been said they are shooting for no more than 16 figures a year (four waves of four I'm guessing), and that is about right for the release pace I think.  Anyways, I like them a lot.  I have Luke and R2 posed right next to our computer here, and they look pretty nice together.  Can't wait for Wave 2.

I saw all four figures at Target last night.  I only bought the X-Wing Luke for now.  Darth Maul and The Sandtrooper were tempting.

R2-D2 was a very easy pass.  Looks too small.  One of the legs was really warped in the package.  The paint was very bad and sloppy.

It might just depend on the WM, from store to store.  I know our local one skips a lot of the "collector" type stuff.  They never carry Marvel Legends, Marvel Universe, DCU or any of that.  Mainly just the "kids" lines or movie focused stuff.  That's ok I guess, the less I have to go there, the better :).

I got my figs from Amazon today...wow are these things awesome.  Yeah R2 is short but it is still an amazing figure.  Same goes for Luke, great detail and great likeness.  And the Sandtrooper is completely amazing.  I have been hoping for these ever since Marvel Legends came out and I am glad they are finally in my paws.  I'm going OT only so $100-$160 a year won't be too much to stomach.

Word is they're not listed on the planogram reset template. Doesn't surprise me as they never carried the most recent class ii sets either. I guess they are cherry picking, though this seems like stupid one to pass up.

I hope it varies by store, as with the McFarlane sports picks figs, but I'm not counting on it.

The thing that's hard to predict is how robustly target will restock these. That 1 case per store model seems a little conservative. Our TRU has yet to stock these even.

Not that this is any sort of nationwide indicator, but two Targets near me that sold thru the 6" figures have restocked. The store closest to me has actually restocked twice since last Monday. So far a bunch of new releases from Hasbro (Black Series, GI Joe, Marvel) seem extremely limited both in-store and online, but with the holiday season coming up that should change soon.

I thought the R2 seemed like a bad value to me as well.  It looked neat, but $20 for him just seemed way high.  I did grab the Luke and Sandtrooper.  Still not sure about Maul, R2 and this line as a whole, but I'll check out the first two and try and make a call at that point.

50% gain in height = 100% price increase.  :'(

I might grab more if the price drops, but otherwise, I think I'll grab those I feel are the iconic SW figures.

But here's the thing, when you double the size of a 3D object, you double the height, and the width, and the depth. (I learned this on Mythbusters!) I think, if my math is correct, actually four times the plastic used on a small figure would be used on this size figure.  So at 20 dollars, it's actually a deal.

I have yet to see any 6 inch figures in the stores.  However, I have heard people comparing them to NECA.  I really hope that's not true.  I bought some Pacific Rim figures in the toystore for my boys, and the things started falling apart in a week.  I hope Hasbro can make a sturdier product.

Having both Neca and Black Series figures around me, I'd say neither are really good as toys. Both types are definitely on the "collectible" end of the spectrum. That being said, I think Black Series would hold up better to play. There is something about the plastic Hasbro uses that seems more durable, while Neca is either flimsier (Pacific Rim, Aliens) or brittle/fragile (Predator). I think the things to worry about on the Black Series figures would be paint wear and joints getting loose (especially the double hinged joints), as opposed to parts actually breaking.

P-Sizzle stop thinking in 2 dimensions.

I got my first Sandtrooper today and it is AMAZING!!!!!!!  First time ever since 1977 that a storm trooper helmet was sculpted correctly. Absolutely perfect. I'm getting a freaking hundred.

And 1 Maul when I see it.

Target for those on the hunt.

Saw two full sets of these at two different Targets...  The Sandtrooper would've had me if maybe a couple more pieces of gear (binocs and some extra Pauldrons for variety).  I walked away though...  It's pretty spiffy looking if not a little shiny in the dirt dept.

I really didn't dig Luke at all...  R2 either.  Maul looked decent though, but the Sandtrooper's pretty perfect.

I can't do it.  I just can't do it.

Last week I found the 6 inch R2.  I thought he was alright, but very flawed, but I remained excited about finding the other figures.  Yesterday I bought them at the Times Square TRU.  I went home on the bus, and while riding, I lost some enthusiasm towards these.  When I got home I opened the Sandtrooper and I just...kinda had this big pit in my stomach.  I wasn't happy. I left the others boxed and did some stuff around the house.  Later in the night I had decided that I really have no interest in these, and re-boxed the Sandtrooper.  Then it struck me what was bothering me, re-boxing the figure was so easy because it was a collectable, and not a toy.  All my life I have collected SW toys.  I don't like things made specifically to collect.

While I think the sculpts on these are great, there's very little style to them. They just look "real." As an illustrator, I don't hold the ability to make something look real in high regard.  I like it when an artist uses his or her own personality and puts it into something to male it great.  And I also like it when technical limitations cuase sculpters to strip down a design.  For instance, I like the new 5 POA figures because of their simplicity.  I think they are clever and fun.

I also feel that the 6 inch figures are aiming at a market that I don't click with.  These are fans and collectors who love SW, but also don't want to possibly be seen as childish for their collecting habits.  They want their toys "cool."  (I hope I am not offending anyone here.)  It's almost as if they are ashamed that they collect toys, so they collect things that are slightly more "adult," but then, to me, they are not really toys.  They are collectables.  And I like toys.

I'm going to return these to TRU soon, and I feel good doing so.  I was really looking forward to this line, but my love of the smaller figures, and their toy attributes is too strong.

Well, the new 6" line certainly isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, and many of us are creatures of habit.  The 3.75" line feels right to many us because we've been collecting it for such a long time.  Why reinvent the wheel, right?  Personally, I love the new 6" line.  Maybe it helps that I don't view the 6" line as a replacement of the 3.75" line, but merely something to augment or supplement my existing collection, much like Gentle Giant, Sideshow, etc.
Title: Re: 6" Black Series - 2013 Wave 1

I picked up R2 to complete my Wave 1 purchases. I had the luxury of picking between 2 on the shelves at Target so I was able to score the lesser of two paint-app evils.  :D

I think part of the appeal to me with this line is it's an easy on-boarding process. (SDCC exclusives aside) It's a manageable # of figures per year and you're not already 20 years behind the curve trying to catch up.
Title: Re: 6" Black Series - 2013 Wave 1
Post by: Jesse James on August 19, 2013, 07:05 PM
It's not a 3.75" Line replacement....  yet.  ;)

Honestly I hope it doesn't go that way, but at this stage I think Hasbro may be thinking that direction, soon.  Like, say, 2015 when a new line of figures for a new movie launches, they're all basically 5 POA's and there's a 6" premium line of them for collectors, but 3.75" fans who want articulation above the 1978-1985 standards for the line are SOL.

That's my fear anyway, but I'm hopeful TBS 3.75" picks up steam as Wave 3 and beyond get rolling out, and they hopefully have less of what we already have in the mix, and start getting back to the OT love.

I really wish TBS 3.75" would go like 6" though, with fewer figures overall in a year, and try to do less repaints and let the 5 POA stuff financially supplement this dialed back 3.75" Articulated line for collectors.  I'm alright with TBS's release schedule so far...  I'm really enjoying knowing I won't want anything till Wave 3 is out now since I have Wave 2 on order and my buddy has Luke/Padme for me.

Wave 3 is a ways off, and I like that kind of a gap...  Let the 5 POA line fill in the rest.  I am ok with that, if that's how they're going.

I don't dislike the 6" stuff, though I think some of you are nuts on Luke's headsculpt...  Figures like Han and the Sandtrooper could almost suck me into these though.  But I do fear this replaces collector-targeted 3.75" figures at some point.  I think that's a legitimate concern, going forward.

Post by: Brian on August 19, 2013, 08:46 PM
I've been thinking the exact same thing Jesse.  We've sort of discussed this in the "future" thread, but I get the feeling the 3 3/4" line is moving towards 5 POA by the time the new movie rolls around as well.  Especially if the 6" line really takes off with collectors.  It seems to be off to a good start, and with Wave 2 including Fett, Solo, and Slave Leia, you could really see the popularity pick up.  We'll see I guess.  They've been selling pretty good here, from what I've seen, but honestly, it seems like anything "new" from SW is selling.  A starved market and all that.

I'm right in line with Jesse's thinking - a scaled by "collector" 3 3/4" line, spaced out, and more focus on OT.  We're at the point where they have really covered so much, and covered it well, that we don't need 50 figures a year here - at $10 a pop.  I'm also picking up the 6" stuff (the OT ones at least, although I do have Maul too), but I'm still a 3 3/4" collector through and through as well and hope we don't see that go away.

I haven't picked up any of the new Legends/Mission Series stuff yet, so I can't speak to their quality.  I don't hate the cheaper, lower articulation idea as much as some do (particularly for figures we already have great versions of anyways), but I think if the paint was as wonky as some have said it would bother me more.  Otherwise, I kind of dig the $6 pricepoint, and the vintage type throwback that line offers.  I'm actually really looking forward to the Han/Chewie and droids packs, as well as that Jedi Luke.  Now, when it comes time for Ep. VII, and it is all new characters (or looks for old characters) I think if everything was 5 POA it would bother me more, but I don't know for sure.  If I'm being honest, unless the quality (sculpt/paint) really took a dive, I think I'd likely still buy some stuff, especially at that lower price.  If they were moving figures like the ROTS days, maybe the price would even drop back to $4.99.

Back to the topic though, I do think Hasbro is gearing (hoping?) that the 6" line will become THE collector line.  We'll have the Legends style for the basic line, and then the 6" collector figures.  Vehicles, beasts, etc. will be exclusives or not much until the movie years start.  We're really going into uncharted territory in a couple of years with new movies each year (at least that's the plan), so we may even have a new "focus" for the action figure line(s) each year.

I finally saw the Luke figure in a store yesterday.  This was actually my first sighting of any of the 6" figures thus far.  However, it was in a TRU store that prices their stock higher than other stores.  I was absolutely not going to pay $22.99 for a single figure.

The level of detail, however, was amazing.  Seeing really is believing when you finally see these figures in person.  The packaging looks cool, too.  Still, I'd like to see the other figures in person before pulling the trigger.  $80 for a wave of 4 figures is pricey.

This can't be stated enough. I have 2 sandtroopers from Target and will buy as many as I find at $20. Today I found Maul and Luke also at Target. Maul is thoroughly badass to the bone, and then I opened Luke and realized he was about as good.  I won't buy R2 just because I don't care for the character.

I'm totally sold on this line.  It is fantastic.

I found one of the Sandtroopers at Wal-Mart the other day after weeks of fruitless checking and months of waiting.  What I immediately noticed was the odd pink stains on the armour.  This is because they used a reddish brown wash and as it is a mass produced factory job, it pooled in the deepest recesses creating these unsightly pink stains, under the eyes, on the sides of the mouth and right in the middle of the chest as elsewhere.  No problem for me as I'm now quite familiar with the ways of weathering my own Sandtroopers.  Rather than using Detol or brake fluid to strip off the wash and start from scratch, I decided to cover it up with more weathering, because it is such a rad figure I couldn't wait to get it up to snuff.
I got him all weathered up and he's posed nicely on the shelf.  Painted the small details that you can forgive a factory paint job for leaving off, as well as the pauldron a nice shade of weathered white.  My 3 year old daughter comes and grabs him off the shelf.  She says, "This guy's really dirty!  Look how dirty he is.  He needs a bath to clean him up!  Can we give him a bath to make him clean and white daddy?'
I explain to her that he is supposed to be dirty, because he's a dirty trooper.  Obviously, she is used to seeing my hordes of brilliant white Stormtroopers and want him to fit right in.  Then she notices the ammo pouches.  "Look daddy, he has a purse!"
Kids are too much.

I wanted to like this line, but as has been stated many times here, it just doesn't "feel" like Star Wars to me.
I like the figures (choices are meh) I'm just it sure I'm going to get into the line, if I had gotten a Sandtroopers first, I may have a different feeling.

As an aside and an apology to Hasbro, my 5 year old son loves them both and wont even look at his 5 points of Articulation statuettes I got him. He is not their target market, but Luke and R2have been helping the WalMart exclusive Avengers save the universe (den) all day.

I think I feel the same way as Mike does about these figures. They look neat and everything but I just can't bring myself to to buy these. I've really had no interest in the past for any of the Side Show or GG stuff and these feel alot like those statues or even like the Unleashed line from years ago. They just look like bigger versions of figures I already have. I think I can find a 3 3/4" figure that is just as detailed looking but can fit into any ship. They just feel odd to me and an expensive toy. I guess it helps cataloging my entire collection and figuring out how many times I have these same characters in these same outfits that gives some perspective. These just don't fit with anything I have. I kind of look at my stuff as a museum collection. A museum exhibition always has a focus on a certain type of art. These things just don't fit in with this exhibition the same way Side Show and GG never did.

The existence of the 6" Black Series threatens the existence of the 3.75" Vintage/Black Series. I guess I'm shallow for wanting to see this line fail so that when the new movies start to come out, I still get 3.75" Vintage-quality figures of the new characters instead of poorly detailed 5POA ones.

I think WalMart's decision to not pick up the 6" line has the potential to be really damaging to Hasbro/Star Wars.  They are the number 1 toy retailer in the country.  But I think that WalMart's still got a bad taste in their mouth from the whole Discover the Force line of 2012.  And I think they may play hardball with Hasbro at least until Episode VII comes out.

It may just be my area, but these are starting to pile up a little bit - at least at our local stores.  I primarily check Target, since I work there anyways, and they've since reset a bit so that there is one "space" on the shelf for it (one wide), and they are full all the way to the back of the aisle with this wave.  None seem to be too tough to find, although the Sandtrooper does disappear the most (Darth Maul 2nd).  Luke seems to be the shelfwarmer if any of them are.  Our TRU has also had a full set sitting on the pegs for awhile now.  It was mentioned earlier, but I think the price dropping more in the $15-17 range would help some too.  I think they have sold well, but things are slowing a bit.  Either that, or this is the rare example of part of a SW line actually shipping regularly as well.  We haven't seen that in awhile.

They piled up immediately here...  the Sandtrooper isn't hard to find now either though he's the only one that might be missing at any store.  $20 action figures have a pretty narrow market IMO.

I see them all over the place now.  I agree - the $20 price point combined with only four figures in the line makes it easy for these to pile up quickly.

Yep, all good points, I'm noticing the same thing around here too. I think another concern is hasbro's tendency to overproduce the first wave of any new line. Plus these have been out for months now. Wave 2 Should have followed closer behind. Neca and mcfarlane seem to get this, I rarely see their stuff peg warming. Hasbro is still behind the learning curve on this, you can't run a 6" line like 3&3/4"line.

I can't say I really care all that much though, I like the line but don't feel as personally invested in it the way I did with the clone wars line. It's not going to bum me out if they mismanage this into the ground too.

I finally opened my Sandie.  I really like the looks of the 6" line.  My only disappointment is that his lower legs (shins) seem to point in towards each other and since the knees are ball jointed, I can't rectify it (the feet do but then they don't line up well with the armor).

I haven't seen more than 3 or 4 of these on any shelf at any point in my area.

Saw a bunch of these at Target today, where they are a whopping $1 off this week.

If anyone is still thinking about checking these out, or were holding out on wave 1, Amazon has Luke, Maul, and R2 for $10 each right now.

$10 is definitely a great price for these figures, even little R2-D2. If the Sandtrooper drops down to $10 I might do some serious army building.

Damn I bought these too soon... I wish they'd put wave 2 up for those prices.  I'm tempted to pick up Maul at $9.99, but I don't want to start doing PT on these... ugh.

Ah just go for it! Maul is a sweet figure, and even if you get sucked in on other Prequel figs they don't have many coming out.

Can't do it.  Have to draw the line somewhere.

Maul is awesome.  You need it. Erase the line, get Maul, redraw the line.

I'll have to check my receipts to see if I can still return the ones I bought previously at Target. If so, game on.

I had to grab a Maul at that price, and was tempted to grab Luke and R2 as well, but I skipped on them for now. I'd love to see some nice price drops on the Sandtrooper and Boba Fett, so maybe Santa will hook us up.

Of course the Sandie would still be full price, of all the Wave 1 figures. The only figure I've grabbed thus far from this line is Darth Maul (you can obviously tell which era of Star Wars I grew up in, lol) and my little brother recently got the Sandtrooper. I was futzing around with it a little and came to the conclusion that I really wanna buy this guy now.

I see Amazon now has the entire first wave (including Sandtrooper) for $13 and change.  Just a heads up for anyone wanting more Sandies, not a bad price.

The Sandtrooper is currently $13.49 on Amazon. Since I haven't seen one in the wild here, I gleefully grabbed one.  ;D

INSANE bargains.  These are worth full price and then some.  Are we allowed to talk about these on your facebook page?

Oh. In that case, if you reroute them to my house, I'll cancel that PM to your wife.

I cave and picked up the Luke and R2 from Amazon. Staying away from prequel figures.
