That is so freakin' cool! There's 8 days left on the current auctions, so I'm gonna have to see how these end up.
-
My beliefs are coming true. We the common folk are all doomed. Kitak is already going for 3000 points the first day. This thing will end up around 10-12000 points if it continues. Anyone want to take my points in trade? I only need a Sacul and Toyfair Vader ;)
-
Nothing I want yet but at least it's started!! Reminds me of the 7-up auctions I am in, same type of format. I guess this is similiar to the 'ploids' auctions that were mentioned before.
As for the auction prices...I have around 4,000 points so it will be interesting to see if I end up with something "exclusive" down the road.....
-
I didn't even bother counting my points because
A: People will bid without knowing how many points they actually have
B: I thought I'd have most of the stuff anyway
C: The whole idea is stoopid
-
Since there's nothing that's been released that I still need, including the VHTF exlcusives, I was figuring I wouldn't even waste my time with these auctions or on even trying to figure out how many JMPs I have (which I would guess might be close to the 5 digit range).
But upon seeing the Kitik Cantina figure up there already, I'm now contemplating starting to look through all my figures and vehicles to see where I stand. I'll probably watch the auction for another day or two to see how crazy it gets before deciding if I want to join the fray. If they throw up the other Cantina wave 2 figures, or that "in-limbo" second wave of Target Accessory Sets, then I'm really going to start JMP digging! Wasn't really expecting these things to show up in the mix, but with the Kitik figure, Hasbro's got me a little interested now... Though I'm sure these things will fly through the roof for absolutely outrageous amounts of JMPs. :-\
Nice to see a Sacul in there, and the Playskool Falcon was a very tough find so a good choice for inclusion as well. But what's with the 12" shelf warming Jango? ::) It'll be interesting to see what the TF Vader goes for when it gets put up on the block.
What I find truly assinine are the people spending a hundred or more bucks in eBay auctions to acquire a few thousand JMPs, when those same idiots could've just taken their hundred bucks and gotten pretty much anything on eBay that they're going to otherwise be bidding on with their newly acquired JMPs (sans TF Vader of course). Silly really...
Well, should prove entertaining to watch, if nothing else. So, what are the consequences for "non-paying" bidders? Just a revocation of your silly little Hasbro account? I didn't bother to read through their 17 pages of rules, so I don't know... :P
-
Like you said Scott, how many deadbeat bidders will there be? I guarantee people will bid tons of points that they do not even have. This whole auction will be screwed up within a month. Then what? People should of had to send in there points to get some kind of redemption coupon and got registered beforehand through Hasbro. That way Hasbro would have known exactly how many points each member really had and could of tracked everything. This whole working on ones honesty will be its downfall.
-
Scott said it best.
This is stoopid.
And what's worse, overseas and Canucks are out of it entirely yet they too have been buying SW crap with JMP's, and have heard the same promises of "You will be able to use these, hold onto them", and now they're just SOL I guess.
I've had my points separated for a while, but not counted. I doubt I have enough to compete. I'll just have to hoep the Ktik figure and the other wave 2 Cantina sets make it to retail sometime because I highly doubt I'm gonna be able to win one in this fiasco.
-
There are some nice choices to bid on, and I was all excited for Kitik there for a second, but yeah, stoopid. There's little point in even trying.
-
Methinks one could seriously screw with these auctions...just bid 30,000 points on Kitik and I bet you get outbid
Any predicitions where these will end?
10 Saculs 12000
Kitik 25000
12" Jango 5000
Falcon 7000

Right, Stoopid.
One of the stoopidest ideas Hasbro has come up with in quite some time.
-
Looks like the stoopid site is down...this wasn't supposed to go live until tomorrow...
-
Right, Stoopid.
One of the stoopidest ideas Hasbro has come up with in quite some time.
I will agree with almost everyone here who said this is a stoopid ideal Hasbro has made. Too many people don't have a chance at the start of these acutions in the first place: Oustside USA, Carded collectors, and kids (Then again would they want some of this stuff?)
Second people will mess with the auctions.
I wish they would of had a promotion like they use to have for GIJoe's when I was a kid some items in a catelog that you could trade points for.
-
WTF??? ??? >:(
This is Hasbro's worst idea EVER!!! Who the heck has more than 30,000 points to bid on the Cantina Alien? This is proof of what a stupid idea this is, and even more proff that Hasbro should've done a Mail-Away Promotion instead.
-
Exclusive figure limited to 2 per household would've suited things better I think... The mass exodus of people cashing in their points for an item is supposedly what worried Hasbro about doing an exclusive figure, so why not limit it?
Oh well... They've made their decision I guess.
I may wind up just keeping mine and seeing if they wind up doing another offer another day. I mean, it isn't like winning a Ktik is an option for me (And I have a TON of JMP's) even so may as well hang onto them since the rest of what's offered probably won't interest me.
-
I agree with you guys, I think this auction thing is bogus. If you don't have the internet then you are out of luck. Plus most of my stuff is MOC so I am out of luck anyway. I might have about 2,000 points. I have not counted them. They should have done a mail away figure. Like another silver anniversary figure or something. Or a Gold edition figure, something totally different. But something that everyone could at least get one or two of and leave it at that.
-
Well its redirecting right now, guess I missed the opening fiasco of the saga. ;)
I want a Kitik. I don't want to deal with this stupid auction. Nor do I think I have enough points (silly me, I should have bought 10 of every figure).
Maybe they can auction off the rights to rig the next Fan Choice Poll and combine the stupidness in one, giant, bloated lamefest.
J
Edit: So now that I see it's live again, Kitik is at 17,000 points with 7 days to go. I sincerely hope that future auctions will calm down when the, er, "high rollers" squander their points.
-
I have officially given up on these auctions. Looks like I will have to find a Jorg Sacul or Toy Fair Vader elsewhere. Even with my 8500 points, I havent got a shot. I still cant believe people are buying them on Ebay at ridiculous prices. For example one auction has about 4000 points and the bidding is at $130. ???
-
Well, I am going to auction off my points then...idiots
-
What I can't believe is that they're only auctioning ONE Kitik Keed'kak. What a crock. And the bidding is just ridiculously high.
-
Look like Hasbro will pull the plug on these in the coming days...
Numbers are obviously phoney...
Just too bad some people couldn't turn their points in for lives...
I'm actually ashamed of being a collector right now ::)
-
Can't agree with you more, Jimmy. I've personally got a lot of stuff, and I know I've gotta have a reasonable ammount of Jedi Master points, but I don't think I have anywhere near 17,000+ points. This has definitely gotten a little out of control.
-
I just put my points up on ebay. I only had like 1.455. Cause I am a MOC collector, so those are just from some figures I opened and few vehicles. Oh well.
-
Hasbro lowered the bids on everthing now all of the items are back down to 10,000 points instead of 299,999,999,999 for the Cantina figure. This whole thing is a waste and I hope Hasbro ends up making some sort of figure or something that is limited to 2 per household, maybe Santa Yoda or another simliar figure.
-
Hahaha! Rebelscum is reporting that the items have hit 999,999,999,990 JMPs! Maybe this will show Hasbro how dumb of an idea this is. ;D
-
This is world class stoopid.
-

That's incredibly false information. Rebelscum is incorrect about that. I just checked out the auctions, and they're no where close to that number. Jorg Sacul is at 10,000 right now... not 999,999,999,990.
-
OMG, what a joke. So they're back down to 25k for the Kitik. Who has 25k JMPs?
Maybe this auction is genious - bogus bidders buy phantom merchandise at ungodly amounts, causing all actual collectors to throw in the towel and trash their points, thankful if Hasbro never brings up the topic again. Hey, they've got me thinking about it - I saved my points for how many years, to not be able to even come withing 8k close of a Jango?
I know this is Hasbro's only apparent solution to appease collectors who kept points (and we could get nothing instead), but come on, the execution here is shocking.
What a disaster.
-
Chris the auctions were up to a billion earlier tonight, the bids had been canceled
KBZ over at scum posted that there is a 50,000 point limit and all bids over that amount will need to be verified by phone by Hasbro
-
This whole "auction" crap is a joke. Why can't people just "buy" certain items with their JMP's instead of having to do an auction. Then people just send in their points and collect the prize(s). There is ZERO control over how many points a particular bidder truly has.
And because I don't give a crap about this auction (and nor do I have enough points to even compete), I haven't been watching it all night. So, if it were up to that outrageous amount that's Hasbro's fault for letting it go that high to begin with. They just made themselves look like the biggest idiots by screwing this thing up. What an embarassment on their part.
-
Yeah I've seen a few responses around the net saying how bad this makes collectors look, how about the morons at Hasbro that didn't figure this would happen
I realize this whole thing is a HUGE undertaking, even the thought of sending in points ahead of time makes me shudder...
The Simpsons line is currently running promotions where you buy four figures and spend $5 and you get a promo...
Why not do that? They have sold Kabe/Muftak, Oola and B'omarr Monk in the past so don't give me no BS They don't sell figures line...
Stooooopid
-
You know, all they really had to do was have the consumers send in their points and award them a gift certificate towards Hasbro Star Wars toys based on the number of points sent in. That way, you 'd get something free and it would be something you want.
I mean, this auction is costing them money anyways so why not go this route??
It's too bad there are those that feel the need to ruin the auction for many that are truly trying to bid on something they'd like.
-
I hate to harp on this whole thing, but its so dumb that I just can't get over it. What I think is bothering me so much is that there is no insurance of a level playing field. How is Hasbro checking for counterfit points? They obviously should, if auctions are going to end in the 50,000+ range. I just have a nagging notion that honest collectors are going to be burned by this, and Hasbro's going to have gone through a lot of time, trouble, and effort to appease us, only for it to be botched by a dodgy execution and a few dishonest or malicious collectors. Its bad all around.
Are the winners going to ship off their 70,000 point winning bid in a shoebox to Hasbro? I can imagine the person on the other end, saying, 'Ok, thats 10 points, plus 20 points, plus, oh wow a Royal Starship! That's 150 points, 10 points... Bah, screw it, this looks like enough to me. Mail out the Sacul to Bobby Joe, its a-ok!'
The auctions also bring up a question:
You mean the 2nd Cantina exclusives made it as far as packaged samples? Or is this a final production unit? Either way... wtf?
-
This is horable I thought I had alot of JM Points, My god 45k on some auctions I'll never get anything for my points I have saved with this kind of BS. What the hell was Hasbro thinking. Heh, who in there right mind would bid that much for a Figure bottom line it's not worth it, why can't they just do what Kenner did back in the 70's and 80's geezz it makes it much more worth saving the points.
-

I heard that some quantities had been produced and are in a warehouse somewhere in Asia collecting dust. Even if it was a minimal run, at least they could of been offered through the Fanclub.
-
Looks like Hasbro's starting to weed out the bogus JMP bids now, since they've dropped substantially. Granted they're still all out of the range of 99% of the collectors out there. So where does Hasbro leave the bad feedback for non-"paying" bidders? :P
Should be interesting to see what the next round of items will be.
-
New auctions are up, 4 total again.
Wait, I'm not even going to comment on this anymore. :-\
