OTC Floor Display (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/aff-home.asp?id=JE-405087801&number=HS84715SIDE&variation=&lg=1&)
As much as I'm beginning to despise the line, the packaging is awesome...I hope its enough to suck in "new collectors"

24 figs x $5 = $120...$30 plus shipping for the display...

Actually, judging by the $5.99 Target SRLPs for the basic OTC figures (that GH mentioned today), that's not a bad deal at all. You're pretty much getting a free display with the figures is what it works out to... 8)
Contemplating it myself...
-
I guess so...Wally World is supposedly still $5
EE is almost $6 a fig after shipping so $6 x 24 = $144
-
Ordered.
Curse the endless circle of love/hate for this line.
EDIT: Should mention that it came out to $162.36 after CA tax (willcall shipping's free). That's 6.77 a figure out the door for the figures alone. Hopefully I can unload my extras that will pile up from this and drive down the cost of the cardboard display.

Am I the only one that finds it highly amusing (yet highly saddening at the same time) that the figure that is shown in the shots, taking up all the display space, is Han?
After all, I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a LOT of this figure for the rest of the year, so maybe Hasbro's clairvoyant or something. ;)
-
This is really nice. I suppose the price is fair. Too bad I don't have the funds or space right now. Sigh.

ditto. but i'm trying very hard not to order one for myself. i'm a sucker for store displays, and this one sure is nice. and hey, the no money and no room thing never stopped me before. ;D

Cost prohibitive to get it up this far :'(
-
Just noticed that these "Floor Displays" were in-stock and shipping.
Jared, did you pick yours up yet? Worth it or not?

Jared, did you pick yours up yet?
Pretty sure he hasn't yet, but that sounds like a good time to get together to swap stuff again out here, eh Jared? ;)
In fact, I wonder if Jared's completely forgotten about that thing... ****load more extras in there. Man, you're in trouble now J! Guess the question is, how bad do you want the display, 'cause I KNOW you don't need most/any of those figures anymore... :-\
-
Jared, I'm not going crazy. No Stormies (listed) in there:
This item also contains 24 individually packaged Original Trilogy Collection action figures including 4x Biker Scout (OTC #11), 2x Chewbacca (OTC #8), 2x Princess Leia (OTC #9), 2x Luke Skywalker - Dagobah (OTC #1), 2x Yoda - Dagobah (OTC #2), 2x Hologram / Spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi (OTC #3), 2x R2-D2 Dagobah Swamp (OTC #4), 2x Luke Skywalker - X-Wing (OTC #5), 2x Luke Skywalker - Jedi (OTC #6), 2x Han Solo (OTC #7), 2x Darth Vader (OTC #10) (subject to change).
:-\

We must be riding a cosmic EE zen wave Jeff, I was just over checking my orders and noticed that too, and fired a mail off to Matt asking if he needed like 4 Biker Scouts. ;)
They didn't call today so I'll check with them in the morning, and hopefully go get it. This came in weeks earlier than their site listed. My wallet wasn't ready. Basically all the figures in it are extras, and a chance to upgrade the quality of some cards for me. I'll put the display together when its here, take a couple pics, and let ya know what I think. I probably have enough friggin' OTC Hans to fill it up just like the pic. >:(
Then it gets disassembled and put into storage.

Gah, then I am going crazy. I had it in my head there were 2x Stormtrooper. ::) Oh well.

Got a chance to see Jared's OTC floor display today at lunch, which he had just picked up from EE. Pretty cool! Nice glossy black surface, and the header is very cool - almost worth it just by itself. It's actually a bit different than the one pictured above. Should make a pretty nice display piece.
But I'll let Jared tell you more about it... (with a pic or two, hopefully) ;)
-
Oh, but wait Matt, there's a problem...
Ok, it's back at home and a couple quick first observations are in order (I'm putting it together now, but there's no instructions).
First off, Hasbro sucks. There are several differences noticable right off the bat from this:
The base portion is not a starfield, but instead solid black on the finished product. The side panels are not Star Destroyer images, or whatever Imperial stuff, but again, solid black. The Star Wars logo marquee is the same, except the TIE Fighters are absent.
The carton it comes in is labelled specifically for EE. I'll get pics up once I've put it together, and probably send a note to EE to let them know the product Hasbro delivered varies quite a bit from the original images.
It looks cool so far, but geez Hasbro, thanks for doing minimal effort... again.
-
****. That sucks. The starfield design is what makes it look "Star Wars"... :-\
That's a serious bummer. I still like the header, but the lack of Star Destroyers on the sides blows too.
Dumb Hasbro. >:(

No ****. Hey, Hasbro, I can MAKE a black box. ::)

The shipping carton, note the Entertainment Earth specific labelling:
The parts as delivered. There are no instructions. Figures come pre-mounted on pegs in the carton, with cardboard seperators as padding. In total the parts include the marquee, the base assembley, and two figure cartons with pegs:
Fully assembled without figures on the bottom pegs, notice the lack of side art:
The full case assembled, as far as I can without wrecking the marquee. There's a flap on the front of the marquee that should probably fold under into the top rack, but it doesn't want to do it without some forcing, which I've quickly learned leads to quick marring of the black paper coating on the cardboard:

Closer view of the top figure rack, in which I've placed figures inside Star Cases, two deep:

And the bottom rack, using bare figure cards, three deep:

Still pretty cool, but yeah - I like the original one (up top) better... :-\
Thanks for the pix J!
-
Great pics! It looks like a nice piece to have. Very nostalgic.
-
Thanks for the pics, looks pretty cool. I agree with you guys though, the original pictured one looks better...the one you actually receive just looks kind of....plain. Still neat, from a nostalgic standpoint, and a cool item to have in your collection.
