Title: Daylight Savings Time
Post by: DSJ™ on April 6, 2003, 09:05 AM
So did anyone loose any sleep over daylight savings time?
Man, I hate it when I loose that 1 hr. I put my clock ahead around 9 pm last night & went to bed early for a change. I got aorund 5 hrs of sleep. Not enough in my book but I got out of bed. A restless sleep & my eyes can hardly stay open.

Sorry to hear that. Down here in Indiana we do not change for Day Light Savings. It is an Indiana thing. Some would say it is a blessing, others say it is stupid.

I hate Daylight Savings Time.  This morning I had to be in at work at 4am, so I went to sleep at 6 last night so that I wouldn't miss to much sleep.  The worst thing about the time change was that the people who worked nightcrew at my work lost one hour of work and we (I'm the person who picks up all of the trash that they get from stocking the shelfs) didn't got out later then we were schedule.  I got out at 945am instead of 8am.
I hate this stuipid time change.

Well wasn't that a Sunday shot to heck. Slept most of the day & now it's time to get ready for work. My body still has not adjusted & it super bright outside.

Yeah, Indiana does not change it's clocks. The only adjustment that we have to make is some of the TV shows are now a hour earlier.

I'd rather change my clocks than change time zones (which is effectively what we have to do).

Now I have to decide between watching Simpsons and watching Six Feet Under because they are on at the same time!  >:(

Actually Indiana has three time zones; Eastern, Easter Standard, and Central, but only one of them doesn't change over.

It didn't bother me a bit.  It's nice that it will be lighter out later in the evening, and darker in the mornings to maek it easier to sleep in longer.

Six Feet Under is my choice. Simpsons is on Three times a day and I can always catch a repeat. Or I could watch Six Feet Under on another day for the repeat.

Yeah usually if I miss SFU, I just catch it on HBO West three hours later

So how'd everyone do this year with the time change?  I didn't even notice it really, since it happened during my 4/2 Midnight Madness hangover.  Though I am admittedly tired as hell at work today...  :-\

Anyone totally brainfart on it?  Has anyone ever forgotten it and shown up late for something the next day?

All I know is, after my brief nap this afternoon I was confused as hell by the amount of sunlight left at 8:09 PM.

It was kind of funny for me because my computers and my vcr's all change the time automatically, while my alarm clock, microwave and tv's don't.  I had no clue what time it was when I woke up Sunday morning!!!!  :o

Back when I was stationed in Alaska, I thought it was funny that we had daylightsavings time.  The sun wouldn't set, so why were we trying to save it? ;D

I'm usually on top of DST, but this year, since I had been up for 36 plus hours due to MM, I forgot. The ironic part is that I wanted to go to Wal-Mart at 7am when they opened, and in order to make it, I need to get up at 6:30. I remeber waking up on my own accord at 5:30 and thinking "I've got another hour. :P

Sheesh.  Daylight Savings Time totally messed me up today.  I couldn't figure out why the "new" posts that kept showing up on JD were an hour old.  Then I remembered that last night was the day that most people set their clocks ahead - we don't touch 'em in Saskatchewan.  But it sure messes things up in relation to everyone else.  >:(   ;)

For the moment at least, I still don't have to play around with my clocks twice a year. ;)

I still don't understand why we do it. Certain states don't but most do.  ???

While I enjoy getting the extra hour of sleep, I sorta dislike how it gets dark early now. It just turned 5:00, and the sun is already halfway down! It's crazy, I tells ya.

If any of you have a verizon wireless phone, did yu notice that the time didn't change on it until sometime this afternoon?

A friend of mine noticed it and askd me if my phone was off as well.  Good thing I don't use the alarm clock on it.

I have a Verizon phone and it didn't update the time until I got my first call this AM (around 9AM).  After that, it was fine.   ;)

Didn't change right away for me, either.

This year ****** me up.  I completely forgot about DST.  The baby woke up at 6am, so I change him, feed him and put him back to bed.  I'm thinking, sweet, he's sleeping through the night again.  Watch a little TV in bed and figure I'll let the wife sleep a little.  Make a pot of coffee and go down stairs to finish the movie I didn't finish the night before.  The clock on the cable box, which changes on it's own, says 6:43.  What the hell?  I've been up almost two hours and here the clock says I've only been up 43 minutes.  Then it hit me.  Daylight savings time.  So much for that extra hour of sleep.
