Watto's Junk Yard / Martha Stewart...going to JAIL
« on: March 5, 2004, 03:15 PM »
Martha was found guilty on all 4 counts of obstruction and perjury.  I wonder how she'll decorate her cell?

Stewart Guilty

NEW YORK - Martha Stewart (news - web sites) was convicted Friday of obstructing justice and lying to the government about a superbly timed stock sale, a devastating verdict that probably means prison for the woman who epitomizes meticulous homemaking and gracious living.

The jury of eight women and four men deliberated three days before convicting Stewart of all counts against her. The charges carry up to 20 years in prison, but Stewart will most certainly get much less than that under federal sentencing guidelines.

Her ex-stockbroker Peter Bacanovic, 41, was convicted on all but one count against him, making a false statement.

The charges centered on why Stewart dumped about $228,000 worth of ImClone Systems stock on Dec. 27, 2001, just a day before it was announced that the Food and Drug Administration (news - web sites) had rejected ImClone's application for approval of a cancer drug, an announcement sent ImClone's stock plummeting.

Stewart and Bacanovic claimed they had a standing agreement to sell when the price fell below $60. But the government contended that was a phony cover story and that Stewart sold because she was tipped by her broker that ImClone CEO Sam Waksal was frantically trying to dump his own holdings.

« on: March 4, 2004, 11:02 AM »
GH has pics up of the upcoming recarded Ultra Kamino Obi and Jango.  This Obi-Wan is one of my favorites from the whole AOTC line of stuff, love his slicked hair and the action feature isn't too shabby either.  Jango is all right, not good not bad

This is one rerelease that makes sense :)

Watto's Junk Yard / Teen Wolf
« on: March 3, 2004, 11:17 AM »
Continuing a trend of revisting crappy 80's movies that I loved, we have the one and only Teen Wolf.  I've watched this a couple of time recently, great stuff, Mike J Fox as the teenager who becomes a werewolf and leads his Basketball Team to glory...plus gets it on with the Play hotty AND gets Boof in the end.  It really doesn't get any better than Prom when Wolf breaks out his Wolf dance to roars of applause...Aaaaaawoooooooooooh

Watto's Junk Yard / Celebrity Boxing Matches YOU Want To See
« on: February 29, 2004, 03:03 PM »
I was dreaming last night that Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder were in a Boxing Match being promoted by Don King.  I think Stevie would kick Ray's ass if it were to go down.

VS

My dream of a Manute Bol/Fridge Perry came true thanks to the fine folks at FOX.

Anyone you want to see meet in the squared circle?

Watto's Junk Yard / Beer
« on: February 25, 2004, 09:19 PM »
Time to lighten the mood a little here and talk about one of my favorite subjects...Beer.

We had the homebrew thread last week, no its time for the macrobrews and microbrews...

My wife is from a small town in MN and they have a brewery that makes Grain Belt Premium.  One of my all time favorites.  They also make 1919 Root Beer there if you've ever had that, some of the best ever

Watto's Junk Yard / The Passion
« on: February 18, 2004, 03:47 PM »
http://www.thepassionofthechrist.com/splash.htm

Opens next week, who's going, who's interested.  I am interested probably won't go until the DVD comes out...I read the DaVinici Code the other night so I am a little more interested than I was a few days ago

I was listening to the radio on the way home from the airport and the guy was talking about the fact that the world right now is at such a low point morally and spiritually that he thought the graphically accurate portrayal of the Passion might spark some sort of 21st Century Revival...its an interesting premise.

I'm also intrigued about the controversy surrounding its R-Rating and the anti-Semitism vibe (which I think is pretty over the top)

Hydrogen Reactor for the Home

Gotta gloat here a little, this was one of my professors at the U of M, this might be one of the greatest inventions of the 21st Century ;)

Our Senior Year 4 of me and my buddies made a movie of all of the different professors set to scenes from Star Wars.  Our two years of study followed the rough outline of the OT with each professer being a different character.  The prof who failed 1/2 of the class was the Death Star, the 80 year old Lab Instructor was Yoda, the Thermodynamics professor was Jabba (a bit overweight and you couldn't understand him).  This guy was the Garbage Compactor because his class was a tight squeeze but everyone got out of it OK.
