Saga '02-'04 / Re: Are Realistic Face Sculpts a Good Thing?
« on: June 8, 2004, 02:46 PM »
I am 100% for the more detailed sculpts.  This is the first I've heard of someone yearning for the POTF2 facial sculpt days.

I do agree that it would help many figures out though if the paint jobs were done better.  My 4 Jabba's Palace Lukes look fine, as do General Lando and Madine.  Most of the Ozzel's I have seen are pretty bad though with the paint application, and I have yet to see an AT-ST Han.

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: More new figures?

I would want everything on this list as long as the re-do's are resculpted (but I'd take a few Ree Yees of the POTF2 sculpt for customs).  But most of this list is new stuff anyway!  I really, really hope this list is legit, and that we see this stuff in stores before the EP3 campaign hits.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: I got 35 clone troopers
« on: June 8, 2004, 02:40 PM »
OMG, that is one hell of a Clone Army!  I don't like those bootleg Clones too much though.

As for myself, I have about 50-60 Clones battling for the soon to be Emperor, and about 20-25 are the SA version.

You are absolutely right, there is a lot of stuff out/coming out in 2004.  Just a lot of it is rehashed stuff that it seems 99% of us collectors already have, and the distribution sucks.

A lot of the stuff that has come out has gotten to be a tad frustrating.  I remember a few years back in the POTJ days I wanted a few of the rarer figures to be re-released (it seemed everyone at the scum forum said it would never happen) like Ishi Tib, Ree Yees, Pote Snitken, holo R2D2, CT Stormtrooper, hooded Leia, Sio Bibble, Naboo Royal Security, etc, but I never thought we would see the Cantina Han rehashed so many times over and over and over and over...

We also just don't seem to get enough stuff that would be in demand with all of these rehashes.  And where's the damn damn playsets?

I think I will be saving a lot of money this year, but will still spend a fair amount.

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Who's getting bored?
« on: June 5, 2004, 06:28 PM »
I have never gotten bored with SW collecting, for me it has gotten more exciting every year.  There are some very, very slow times once in a while though, and to me this time coming up is going to be one of them.

The VOTC figures are going to be very exciting though, as are the Dagobah/Bespin/re-release Endor waves, but most of the other stuff is pointless rehashes IMO.

During times like this, I tend to rekindle my love for customizing figures and making new dioramas.  And I will hopefully get my photonovel series back on track.  I will also probably do a lot of buying older army-builders and fodder for more customs.  It's the Wookie way to save the day. :D

That is a pretty damn nice list you made there.

I would make a couple of minor tweaks myself, as I would change the following waves:

- in the Hoth wave I would have added a Wedge Antilles Snowspeeder pilot

- I also would have moved J'Quille or Elom out of the Palace wave and put one into the Tatooine wave for better distribution

- in the Star Destroyer wave I would add a new Death Star Trooper

- in the Endor wave I would have added in a new Ewok w/ baby

- in the Cloud City wave I would add a new head Bespin Guard

- in the EP3 preview wave I would add Sly Moore

I really like the Ultra/Deluxe ideas, but I would also add some more Screen Scenes:

Death Star Conference - seated Tarkin, Tagge and standing Vader

Echo Base - Snowspeeder pilot, Rebel Technician, Toryn Farr

Jabba's Palace - new Bib Fortuna, new Gamorrean Guard, new Yak Face

EP3 Preview - Lars family Owen, Beru and Cliegg

Just a few thoughts, need to get back to work!

What are everyone's thoughts on these:

ANH - Luke, Ben, R2D2, 3PO

ESB - Chewie, Leia, Han

ROTJ - Emperor, Stormtrooper, Vader

In my opinion, this is a little bit crazy.  Most of these figures are already too plentiful as it is.  I would think that some people might want them for the pure collectable factor or they might make nice gifts for someone who doesn't usually buy the figures.  But how much will these cost?

Also, I'm not too sure why some of these figures are included, most notably the R2D2; this looks to me like the version that came out back in 1995.  Why not finally repack the POTF2 CT version w/ the holo Leia?  Or instead of having 3PO in this set, throw in the CT Leia?

As for the ESB set, I think the POTJ Bespin Han is a great choice, but they should have used the SAGA Chewie and replaced the Leia w/ a repainted R3PO painted to be C3PO.

The ROTJ set is cool, especially since the Emperor was pretty hard for a lot of people to get.  We can always use a new Stormtrooper, but I think we should have gotten perhaps the CT Vader repainted some on the chestplate.  This to me will be the hottest of the three sets.

Thoughts?  Who wants these?  Do you plan on opening them if you buy them?  Will they sell well?  Would you have rather seen all new figures with these?  Or should they have not made these at all?

EDIT - Sorry this topic has already been brought up.  I had my head up my ass.

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: TRU Endor 4 Pack

OMG, the least they could do is kitbash the Han somehow, use the other Endor Trooper head, repaint the Ewoks to be different ones, etc.

No effort at all.

That really is cool speedermike.  It's great to see a new generation being exposed to these masterpieces.  Long live STAR WARS! ;)

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Most Overdue

I stand corrected Spuffy.  The Snowspeeder pilots we have are abominations.  How about a Screen Scene w/ Snowspeeder Luke, Wedge and Hobbie w/ a refueling machine.  And removable helmets too for these dudes with accurate sculpts and some nice articulation.

I don't know if this belongs here, because of the PT figures (even though we could see the EP3 preview figures on OTC cards), and I don't think it belongs in SAGA because it's coming to an end.  Anyways, what are the most overdue Star Wars items in your opinions, and why?

How about one vehicle/playset per movie, and one figure/screen scene per movie.  Here's my thoughts, I hope to see your opinions as well.

TPM

Figure - a freaking handmaiden in the orange outfit; Padme wears this outfit a lot

Playset - an ultimate Theed Palace, with two sides; the outside of the palace entrance, and the interior would have the Queen's chamber room along with a Jedi duel area and a hangar for a ship - this is the central location in TPM, why not a playset finally

AOTC

Figure - a Lars family Screen Scene with Owen, Beru and Cliegg; these are very important characters that are being neglected

Vehicle - AT-TE, what a great toy this would make; and the Homing Spider Droid would be pretty nice too

ANH

Figure - A cinema scene with Stormtrooper Luke, Stormtrooper Han, and a circular Death Star control console with an all new Death Star Trooper, these consoles are an icon of the Empire

Playset - Modular Death Star playset for obvious reasons

ESB

Figure - Ultra/Deluxe Hoth Rebel Trooper (final sculpt w/ ultimate articulation and sculpt -no beard or stupid facial expression and not shorter than Leia) and anti-vehicle cannon

Playset - Modular Cloud City playset like the Death Star idea

ROTJ

Figure - Royal Guard, a final kickbutt version with silk robe and ultimate articulation

Vehicle - the mother of all vehicles would double as a hell of a playset; Jabba's Sail Barge

I'm in for a non-spirit version of the OTC Obi Wan.  Actually, I reall, really want them to make it.  I'd like to get several for dioramas and probably for customs too.
