JD Sports Forum! / Re: Super Bowl XL Pittsburgh vs Seattle
« on: February 6, 2006, 12:22 AM »
And now time to chronicle the biggest plays of the game for the NEW Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh STEELERS!!

Tylenol for the headaches Willie Parker cause for the Seahawks defense, $4.

Detergent to remove the grass stain from the post-score tumble, $10.

Diving into the end zone for no apparent reason to complete a 75 yard TD run, the longest run in the history of the Super Bowl...PRICELESS

It's all about breaking the plane:

Gotta love starting the season as a training camp no show holding out for more money, only to end up catching the dagger TD pass in the Super Bowl:

And finally, the BUS!!!

STEELERS BABY!!!!

Now as for the 2 main points:

1.  The Darrell Jackson call was fair in my opinion, he did push off.  The kicker is, I don't think he really had to.  It's tough to say, but I think he may have scored without pushing off.

2.  I do think Roethlisberger broke the plane of the goal line with the front edge of the ball.  It was close, but I too think he got it.

I gotta add how cool it was for Bettis to retire in front of the crowd and his coach at the same time, standing there in his hometown a Super Bowl Champion.  It doesn't get any better than that.

I noticed that Yakface has a story up showing that the Hoth wave is now in stock over at Amazon, but for $8.99 each!  Yikes.

Ew, yuck.  That's over $10 each shipped, depending how many or few you buy.  I think the only figure I'd resort to Amazon for in this wave, and actually in Carkoon and Hoth combined, is General Veers.  I might have had to stoop to this for the AT AT driver as well.  And that's only after an exhaustive search of retail stores.

Luckily, the retail situation has been slightly better.

I don't think I would buy them

Even if they were fully compatible and blended well with the Hasbro regular 3 3/4" line, and we got some nifto trooper figures like BARC troopers or Galactic Marines in a 3 pack that aren't available in the regular 3 3/4" line?

I think I'd be forced to take Dirk Nowitzki over either Duncan or Wade.  Other than that, agreed.

I think Dirk is a great player, but he isn't quite good enough on the defensive end to warrant being in my top five.

Well, statistically speaking anyhow, defensively Dirk Nowitzki is better than Kobe Bryant.

Kobe for his career averages 5 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 0.6 blocks; whereas Nowitzki averages 8.5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block.

If you want to speak in intangibles and say, "Well Kobe is just so good guarding players," I can't really subscribe to that because it doesn't translate in the statistics.  I gotta go by the numbers.

I agree that the other 4 players are better defensively than Nowitzki.

I know, some of you are going to say "No Way!" but hear me out... look at all the gimmicks Hasbro has out right now...

- Choppers
- Transformers
- Force Battlers
- Galactic Heroes
- Unleashed Minis

I was just thinking that adding those Attatktix things to this list wouldn't be too out of line.

I can say that I have bought not a one of those silly Force Battlers, Galactic Heroes, or Transformers.

However, last week in Target when the peg hooks were loaded with the Kashyyyk wave of mini Unleashed, I had the Chewie/Tarfful/Yoda/Aayla pack, the BARC pack, and the wookie troops pack in my hands for no less than 30 minutes debating whether I really wanted to go down this road and start collecting this line too.  I decided that they were really cool, looked great, but that I just didn't want to start collecting another scale.

I was really considering picking them up, because normally it's not my policy to leave something I might want to buy behind, as it probably will not be there when you come back and decide you want it.  But what did I do?  I put all the Unleashed minis back on the peg hooks, and bought some more 3 3/4" AT-AT drivers, Veers', and snowies.

If those packs were 3 3/4", I guarantee I'd have brought each and every one of them home with me in multiples.

But damn, I still need a Veers. I hate starting to be a completist.

He's a "must" for even the non-completists among us, I'm afraid.  However, not being a completist allowed me to pass on that 40th rendition of Darth Vader in that wave.

Your list of players that you'd take ahead of Artest got me thinking ..... who are the top-five players in the league?
I see it this way (in no particular order):

Dwyane Wade
Tim Duncan
Kobe Bryant
Kevin Garnett
LeBron James

What does everyone else think?

I think I'd be forced to take Dirk Nowitzki over either Duncan or Wade.  Other than that, agreed.

That zit on her boobie is HAWT.

Maybe too many Kit Kat bars?

Chocolate doesn't cause acne.

I'd take her any way I could get her.
