Psst....

Here's some more info on that guy.  He used to be a prop builder for Star Trek and a toy designer for Mattel and Playmates.  Read the article below to learn a little bit more about this guy and some of the other SW things he's had a chance to do:

Star Wars that Almost Was

Very interesting to see that the Playmates' prototype was VERY similar to what we now have as the Hasbro unleashed line...

You can learn more about his car here.

It's pretty funny how often this car comes up.  It's been all over the SW Community and then some appearing on all sorts of sites.

Pretty good for a "dork" :)

Just rent out a storage shed and display them in there, she never has to know.  ;D

Space Jam

I't absolutely my favorite "Yes, Dear" ever.  Followed closely by Greg and his father's trip to San Diego Comic Con.

Patience man, patience.  You absolutely have to find her something to collect. Anything.  Tea cups, coke paraphenalia, beer bottles, whatever.

This is the type of arrangement my wife and I have currently.  Everytime she seees me drag another bag full of figures into the house, it's just another "Pampered Chef" pizza stone, or "Longerberger" basket, or Spa day with the girls.

Early on in our relationship, there was a bit of grumbling about the dollars spent on SW.  My lovely wife was concerned we were "wasting our money", money that could be well spent on other things (things that "we" wanted, and by "we", I mean she).

So, for kicks, we added up a year's worth of receipts for her "stuff" for a year (Pampered Chef, Spa Days, Salon hair treatments, etc) and all my "stuff" (SW stuff and power tools).  We left our stuff like clothes/food as we'd buy those anyway.  We're talking pure luxury "I gotta have it because I want it not because I need it" items.

We were both surprised to see that the dollar amounts were VERY close (within $100).  After that, we kind of realized that we both have hobbies and we both have different ways to relax.

Sure, I buy SW stuff that "we" don't need, but at the same time she buys her share of stuff that we don't need.  Since then, neither of us has every really groused that the other is wasting too much money.

So, to recap.  She has her "Spa days" and product x Parties, while I have my Star Wars room.  Everyone is happy.  That is the blessing of being DINKs (Duel-Income, No Kids), which I'm sure will all change when we finally get around to having kids...

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Silver Sandtrooper coming?!?
« on: April 8, 2004, 08:51 PM »
Confirmed!

The SW Official Site just confirmed the Silver Sandtrooper as the convention exclusive...

I like this line:
"A number of these figures will be set aside for future events, and for sale on StarWarsShop.com."

That will help for those who can't go.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Episode III Title?
« on: April 8, 2004, 05:32 PM »
When did we get the title for Episode 2?

I heard we may know what Episode III's title is by June 2004?

"Attack of the Clones" was announced as the title for Episode 2 on August 6th, 2001 (about 9 months ahead of time).

I wouldn't look for an offical title until late summer of this year...  but it never hurts to speculate :)

How about:
Star Wars: Episode 3 - The End of the World as We Know It (and Anakin feels evil).

or

Star Wars: Episode 3 - The Wonder Years!

 :P

My thoughts...

Boston over Habs (3-0):
A good goalie in Boston = a REAL good chance this year... props to Raycroft on his first Playoff Shutout.  In his first Playoff game.  As a rookie.  Marc-Andre Fleury who?

Avalance over Stars (3-1):
Welcome back Marty!  Little rusty are we?

Detroit over Preds (3-1):
Welcome to the playoffs Nashville!  Scoring 16 seconds into the game!  Awesome!  BUT, obviously someone forgot to tell you that Playoff games last 3 periods, just like the regular season  :P  Seriously though, Detroit has a good track record in losing in the first round, so you've still got a chance.

Evil over Calgary (5-3):
Stupid Canucks.  Ugh.  They better keep scoring goals if they want to win.  Dan Sieve-ier is gonna give up a lot of them...

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Figures You Have Passed On, Or Will Pass On
« on: April 8, 2004, 11:09 AM »
Figures I've passed on?

Um...  Well...  Uh...  That would be... none.  My OCD causes me to collect every last one of 'em.   :-[  If they're just re-released (recarded) figures, I obviously only need one of them for the carded collection, since I've already got a loose (and carded) one from that figure's previous release.  Hate that recarded crap, but of course, I've got nobody to blame but myself for collecting them (and Hasbro, just a little, for rereleasing them).

But when the OTC era rolls around, I will anxiously and happily grab every recarded issue they put out in that line, since the packaging is so damned beautiful!   8)

I concur.

I, too, suffer from OCD.  I buy one of everything carded (including re-card figures) and one of each sculpt to open (ie I bought a CommTech Cantina Han to open, but didn't buy any of the re-issues to open, only to keep carded).  I have NEVER passed on a figure.

I have no plans to pass up any figure anytime soon, but eventually they might create a figure so lame that I don't need it.  Like if they crank out a Raek MullaCcM (X-Wing Pilot) for Celebration 3 (Hasbro PLEASE don't do that).  I wouldn't want that.  Sacul was one thing, but please end the trend with Jorg.

I have, however passed on vehicles occasionally.  Like the CW re-released AAT.  If they would have packed in a figure though... I'd have purchased one.  It's a disease.

A variant of this disease causes me to have 50+ Clones and 70+ Stormtoopers, but that's another story...

Saga '02-'04 / Re: 25th Anniversary Clonetrooper
« on: April 8, 2004, 10:44 AM »
My 3 Silver Clones arrived last night from Amazon.com:

Clone #1 - Arrived C9.5 - Minty Fresh!  Yes!
Clone #2 - Arrived C8-9 - Card has a slight crease on the back (from where the bubble is attached), but the condition is better than most.
Clone #3 - Competed crushed - Looked like a fat kid sat on it.  Bubble damage was so bad, the clone wasn't even holding the gun anymore.

So, my Amazon.com service was across the board.

I kept the minty one, sold the crushed one to my pal at work (he's an opener, so he didn't care) and posted my extra (Clone #2) for sale here at JD.com for someone to buy.

Overall, I'm satisified with my Amazon experience because I got what I wanted, my opener pal got what he wanted, and someone here at JD.com will get one too... (of course, I had to order 3 figures to ensure I got what I wanted, but eh, that's life).

Well, the seasons almost over, so it must be time for me to jump on the T-Wolves bandwagon like a good MN fan is expected to do...

Go Wolves!  Hopefully they'll win enough games this year to make it out of the first round... or at least enough to have more Playoff wins then the Wild.

T-Wolves Post-Season Record:   7-22 (7 playoff appearances)
MN Wild Post-Season Record:     8-10 (1 playoff appearance)

To celebrate my 200th post here at JD.com:

It's not a pink sweater, but I'm sure someone can fix that with Photoshop or something....

A candid shot from a recent family get together... I'm reaching behind my head in a valiant, but ultimately failed attempt to retrieve the ice cube my sister was kind enough to shove down the back of my shirt.

Sorry, no appendix scars to show off.
