Thanks for the links, guys.  While they look awesome, I think we will be staying clear from the Universe line.

As for the Happy meal figs.....eh, "figs"?  Pieces of something?  They look almost like chewy baby toys than an actual "play" toy for a 5 yr old.  So I think we will be skipping the drive-thru lane as well.

Again, thanks for the info.

Oh, one other question.  My son said that he saw a commercial for animated Transformers at McDonalds.  If so, does anyone have the skinny on these?

Thanks,
Jeff

Sorry, idiot novice chimming in here again to ask you guy; what is this "Universe" line?  ???  Can you provide a link or some pics?  My son is just getting going on the animated line, now there is a different line?

Thanks dudes.

Saw the Deep Space Starscream, but my son opted for his first animated TF over the weekend.  We picked up Prowl.  Heck of a lot easier for a 5 year old to transform and no frustrated fathers having to do it for them.  :D

Finally seen the animated TFs at Target and TRU last night.  I think we've seen most of them, yet my son didn't want to spend his allowence on any.  So I guess I'm not too worried about them now.

Also saw at a couple of Targets over the past two days, end caps with the Target exclusive Deep Space Starscream.

I got replacement fins for mine here:

Originals were too hard to find and the one set I did find, broke when I put them on my Hovercraft.

Sweet!  Those are exactly what I need.  I will have to look into getting those at some point.

Thanks,
Jeff

Ooooh, the WHALE was the coolest!  I still have mine, although the two hydro-fan thingies in the back are busted up.  I always had a soft spot for the Polar Battle Bear (snowmobile) as well.  Must've been that cool commercial for the comic that I liked about it.

I almost forgot, I also saw the Prime/Megatron combo pack with the DVD today at WalMart.  Funny thing, there was no price on the shelf, so when I went to scan the box, it came up as "See Associate".  I guess these weren't supposed to be out yet, hmmmm?

Cartoon Network @ 9:30AM CST.

Duh!  :o  You missed which days they are on.  That would be Saturday mornings and then a repeat on Sunday mornings as well.  Believe me, I know.  We have to watch it twice every weekend.  ::)   ;)

Finally saw the animated characters at WalMart today, but my son was at preschool, so I didn't want to pick anything that he might not want.  So we will have to go back there later.  Anyways, these looked interesting.  I'm not sure about the animated look, but whatever floats his boat.  I saw the basics; Bumblebee, Prime, Bulkhead, Prowl, Lugnut and the Spider-chick (Arachnid?).

...I picked up the animated Voyager-class Megatron, Starscream, and Grimlock this morning.

Awesome!  So Grimlock IS one of the first wave of figures for this animated line.  Cool!  My son and I will be on the hunt for this one.

By the way, I just wanted to thank you guys for all of your help in answering questions and such when it comes to the Transformers.  I was a GI Joe guy in the 80's and didn't get into TFs, so with my son infactuated with the TF movie and cartoon, this is all kind of new to me.

Found a ****load of Animated figs today at WM....but I'm waiting for Target to reset so I can put those coupons to good use.

So these are going to be at both WM and Targets?  Good.  We don't hit WM that often.

Are there going to be certain waves coming out at certain times of the year for these as well?  As mentioned a million times before, my son wants Grimlock, so I was wondering when to be on the lookout for that.

It's the toy.

Thanks guys for all of your feedback.  It's good to hear that it isn't my lack of knowledge of these figures or that we are getting defective toys.  Yes, Blackout is another one that my son just leaves in helicopter mode because it is such a pain in the butt to switch back and forth.  It sounds like we are having the same areas of issues with the same characters.  He gets so frustrated trying to get them back and then he gives it to me to figure out, then I get frustrated.  >:(   I think I have a better shot at a Rubix cube sometimes.  I hope that the animated figures will be easier to transform because those are what he will be eyeballing next.  Did I read that correctly, are they coming out in June instead of August now?

So my son got a black Ironhide for his preschool graduation last night from "Grandma and Grandpa", and I tell you, this thing is impossable to transform.  Maybe it's just me since I'm not used to this line of toys, but even following the darn directions doesn't help us get him completely into "robot" mode.  Especially his darn hood.  So now I have a 5 year old who "HATES Ironhide"  :D and a toy that I'm about ready to smash with a hammer.  Now I know that these figures have different difficulty levels on them, but have you guys ever come across and characters that are unusually difficult to transform?  Just curious.  I want to see if it is just me or the toy.  *whispers* Please say it's the toy, please say it's the toy.  ;)
