TV-9D9 / Re: The Clone Wars - It's Back
« on: July 19, 2018, 10:38 PM »
I’m excited to hear this announcement - I always enjoyed Clone award far more than Rebels and it was a shame it got canceled when it did - but I’m not too wild about it being on Disney’s new streaming service as opposed to a more accessible platform like network or cable TV.

I got this figure last week from GameStop and totally agree with the above comments - it is another great figure!  Commander Wolf and Captain Rex are a couple of my favorites and it’s neat seeing the characters with realistic head sculpts.

I have that big wing TIE that was released 8-9 years ago at Target - which is great save for the pink-tinted cockpit glass...  I’m hoping this will have the super-detailed TIE cockpit with the controls and removable seat.  It will be great to finally get a decent version of one of the most ubiquitous ships in the SW universe, just stinks that it’s at Walmart.

Got my Enfys Nest Swoop Bike today, ordered from Entertainment Earth.  It’s a nice edition to the Black series 6” vehicle line and is very detailed!  The Enfys Nest figure is quite nice as well with detailed chest plate, rubber and cloth goods.  Unfortunately the helmet is not removable...  Perhaps we’ll get another “Savareen” version with a removable hat at some point?  The axe/pike is a bit plain as well.  The bike comes in two main sections.  The forward booms are a bit delicate, but Hasbro smartly includes a little removable plastic piece to help them keep shape in the box. The figure can be seated realistically on the bike as well...  The Swoop Bike is pretty large as well - much larger than the Imperial Speeder Bike and Rey’s Speeder, for example.  Overall I’m pretty happy with this model.

Some pictures are included below.  Enjoy  :)

The Vintage Collection / Re: TVC Rogue One Imperial Assault Tank
« on: July 11, 2018, 09:45 PM »
I just found another cool little Easter egg detail inside the Imperial Assault Tank...

Hasbro detailed the coffee mug in the commander’s station  8)

The coffee mug was apparently something the filmmakers put in the actual movie prop as an inside joke (sort of like the Playboy Magazine centerfold and Star Wars movie posters in the cockpit of the Rebel Blockade Runner from ANH).  The mug is also detailed in the cross-section drawing of the TX-225 Occupier in the Rogue One Ultimate Visual guide book.  I think it’s awesome that Hasbro includes it in their model/toy :)

Sorry for the double post, however, here are some photos of the Imperial Assault Tank.  Enjoy 8)

I got my Assault Tank today as well (ordered from EE).  This thing is practically a model!  I’ve collected the 21st Century Toys and BBI 1/18 scale armored vehicles for years and those were basically highly detailed preassembled models with a level of detail that far outstripped most Star Wars toys... The Assault Tank is the exception  8)

The vehicle is loaded with working features and (thankfully) sidesteps any gimmicky features like firing missiles, sound effects, etc.  Basically the functional aspects are as follows:

Working treads
Rotating main cannons
Swiveling secondary guns
Removable deck plates for cargo bed
Foot pegs for figures to stand in cargo bed
Two solid kyber crystal transport containers
One container that opens & has two crystal cylinders that open to reveal kyber crystals
Opening drivers hatch
Opening engine cover with detailed engine
Opening commander’s hatch
Removable front cover to access interior
Interior features seats, steering controls (driver’s controls move) tons of switches, circuitry, etc.  Even the backside of the removable front panel is detailed with cooling fans and circuitry

I’ve got mine crewed with some of the Black Series Scarif Trooper figures at least until I can find some of the new Assault Tank Driver figures in the next TVC figure wave...  Overall I am very pleased with the Imperial Assault Tank and hope we get more Vintage series vehicles in time.

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Solo (SPOILERS)
« on: June 15, 2018, 12:59 AM »
Going a little OT here, but I finally saw Solo...  First Star Wars movie I hadn’t seen on opening day since 1997, but sometimes life gets inthe way...  But that said, I rather enjoyed it, actually much more than I thought I would!

I’ve been out of the Star Wars collecting game for a little while, but recently picked up the new Han, Lando, Tarkin, Range Trooper, Death Star Trooper, and have a Dewback arriving soon.  Fantastic figures all around!

The Last Jedi / Re: TLJ 3.75" TIE Silencer w/Kylo Ren
« on: February 16, 2018, 12:36 PM »
I came across this article on Gizmodo.com about how the design of Hasbro’s TIE Silencer toy changed the way the ship was depicted in the movie.  Thought it seemed relevant  ;)

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series The Last Jedi Wave 4
« on: February 11, 2018, 09:45 PM »
I picked up Captain Rex and Jaiana Solo along with an Imperial Royal Guard yesterday.  They were at a small retailer that specialized in sci-fi collectibles which happened to be in a shopping mall I had stopped at to get my phone repaired while on a road trip.  Rex is one of my favorite figures to date and it’s awesome to see the character get realistic treatment.

The Last Jedi / Star Wars Toys Sales Fall With 'The Last Jedi'
« on: January 19, 2018, 02:39 AM »
I came across this article regarding a slump in the sales of the toys for the TLJ movie, stemming from a variety of possible causes from changes in the what kids are interested in to movie fatigue.  I know I’m not seeing the figures and ships move so quickly this time around, despite them being decent products... And I definitely wasn’t as motivated to get a ton of new toys for the new movie.  What this trend holds for the future of our hobby is anyone’s guess, but it is an interesting little read.

Not sure I need to get another one of these, lol.  Mine is temporarily stored in my garage as I needed to clear some space on my office floor after it sat there for over a year and a half.  It’s funny as I’ve had some neighbors passing by comment about how cool it looks...  That said, I think Hasbro may have been pushing the envelope with the 6” scale FO TIE Fighter given its sheer size.  Notice for TLJ we got a couple significantly smaller vehicles and not a 6” scale X-Wing or A-Wing to go with the TIE.  but I think the thing that bugs me the most about it that the wings cannot be easily detached from the cockpit pod, making the ship very difficult to disassemble and return to its box.

I picked one of these up a couple days ago.  There were 8 or so on an end cap display at a local Target so I had my pick of the litter, so to speak.  It’s a nice set & I like the extra cloth goods on the Luke figure and diecast robotic hand.  The figure is a bit different from the regular carded version.  Not sure if I’ll open it or not...
