I'd buy Jira too.  We've got penty of old men figures, but no old women for them to get with.

His tunic is the wrong color.  In the Sideshow photo it looks white, as opposed to beige.  It looks more like the color outfit he wore in E1.

I looked closely at a lot of Sideshow figures at a collector shop the other day and I wasn't too impressed by the faces.  Sure, they're better than Hasbro's, but they still seemed unable to nail specific likenesses.  I'm on the fence with this line, and may cancel my pre-orders...

Wow.  This really is a major piece of work.  Like everyone else, I'm touched by the family connection of the whole thing, and bowled over by the craftsmanship.  I've got a 15 month old, and another due in the summer, and I hope that I can share SW with them the way you are with your children.  Simply awesome, and a great way to start a new year!

Saga Collection '06 / What Makes a Good Figure?
« on: December 23, 2005, 07:53 PM »
After reading many luke-warm responses to the three new beautifully sculpted, but non-important, figures in the Lucas Family set I started wondering about what people want as collectors.  To me, any charcter that is on screen is eligable to be made into a figure.  I don't care how dull the charcter's part is.  To me, a clone is no more "important" to a collection that a Mon Cal senator.  I also don't think that Jedi or Clones are "cooler" than other characters.  In fact, the reason I love SW figures, and have been collecting since the Early Bird kit in 1978, is that it is a collection that covers main characters, bit players, soldies, civilians, wildlife, bartenders, gangsters, musicians and chefs.  And I like them all.

So, what do you want in your SW collection?

Looking at the Hoth wave, and all of the little extras Hasbro added to some figures, I wonder if we'll get anything neat with these.  I'd love to see something (anything) thrown in with R5.

I know I've said this a dozen times but...even at 6.99, they're cheaper than what I was paying in NYC in 1999 when TPM came out!

Seeing the 3 new figures in this set gives me hope that Hasbro will make some more exclusive boxed sets.  Imagine a McQuarrie Concept Figure Boxed Set with Vader, Chewie, R2 and a repackaged Concept Stormtrooper.  That would be nuts.

In  all honesty, they could have charged a lot more for this set.  Considering they charge about 14.00 for repaints, 3 all new sculpts plus one old figure could have been close to 50.00.  I think the price point is right on the money, really.  I don't mind paying 8.00-10.00 bucks for an obscure  figure that I know would never come out on a card

Actually, I'm really jazzed about this set!  3 very obscure non-Jedi-non-Clone figures?  I'm in.  Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but as others have pointed out, much less than Target's exclusives.

I was amazed how easy the OTC stuff was to find, especially the "new" stuff such as the Dagobah  or Cantina waves.  I'm sure there will be slim pickins, but I can't imagne that Hasbro would allow SW to poop out right now.

Because Vader is the single most recognized SW character there is.  He always sells, and sells well to parents and children.  In my opinion, he should always be on the pegs.

This would be my favorite wave of all time if there was an all new super acurate Dr. Ezavan figure!

These just keep looking better and better!

Is it just me, or are these new sculpts some of the best things Hasbro has ever done?  For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why they were resculpting Garindan, but he looks awesome!  Also, looks like Hem comes with the sandman gun from Logan's Run!

There's a pic up at SW.com.  Comes with Palptine, Yoda, 2 Shocktroopers and a senate pod that looks kinda tiny.  An OK set, but no big deal.
