If their prices aren't ridiculous like KB's were they should do well.

This is a random post but, anyone seen the PS3 commercial about the rumors it is dropping to $299 where the Sony guy says "don't believe rumors you hear on the internet, that's how WW1 started"? Its pretty funny.

The original line was funnier:  "if everything you read on the Internet were true I'd be a Nigerian millionaire."

Then Nigeria complained...   :P

I've been playing Resident Evil 5.  Very enjoyable so far, though I agree with the folks who've found it a bit easy.  I'm thinking of the Batman game next.

Congrats!  I pick up most of my games on eBay.  You can get 2 or 3 month old games for sometimes 1/2 the price of retail.  I picked up Force Unleashed for $17 shipped two months back.  I got Resident Evil 5 for $36.  I expect I'll pick up Batman next.  I'll be getting a couple of games this fall when the launch, though... Uncharted 2 and Ratchet & Clank.  They're worth full retail.

New Moon looks good but if I see it in the theater I'll wait a couple weeks till the teen girls clear out.

I thought the whole point of seeing New Moon was to check out the teen girls...

Films I'm looking forward to (pending decent reviews):

Surrogates - Big Bruce Willis fan.  Premise looks promising.
Zombieland - Looks absolutely fantastic.
The Princess and the Frog - Classic-style Disney animation... something we haven't seen in a long while.

That might be it for the theater.  I'd honestly rather watch the FX-heavy stuff on Blu-ray anymore, especially with so many films going 3D.  Don't like 3D at all.

How do you feel about dead Nazis getting their scalps cut off their heads?

The new PS3 Slim is showing up at retailers everywhere, and apparently selling at a brisk pace.  I've read reports of stores selling out of entire pallets of PS3s the same day they get them in.  They've also begun shipping from Amazon and other online retailers.

One of the Sony "insiders" who posts on another forum I frequent said he expects the PS3 Slim to be difficult to track down after the initial shipments are depleted until mid/late October.  That's when the next "big boat from China" is due to arrive.  So if you want one now you'd be smart to grab one sooner rather than later.

Oh, I liked it too, but I felt the beginning and the bar scene just went on way too long. The bar scene in particular could have been greatly edited to simply establish the plot, and then quickly get to the shootout.

In that scene Tarantino was trying to draw out the tension and awkwardness as far as he possibly could... to make the fine line the Basterds were walking as palpable as the format would permit.  I was riveted.  If you weren't engaged at that point I could see it seeming too long.  Really I thought it was brilliant.  Every second the SS guy was probing, even with the most innocuous comments.  And just when it looked like the Brit pulled it off, he blows it.  That's the one scene of the film I'm most looking forward to watching again to see what all I missed.

I think the TV series might prompt GRRM to get moving on the rest of the series.  Now he has deadlines!  A Dance with Dragons is almost done.  So that's 5 years into the TV series.  He has effectively 6 years to complete the last two books to have them done in time for the TV show.  So as long as he doesn't keel over (he looks pretty old in his photos) I figure we'll see the series wrap up about 4 years after the 2012 apocalypse.

Interesting... a Google search on Sophie Turner turns up quite a few pics of a woman who looks like a stripper.  No idea if it's the same person.

The girl playing Daenerys already has a nude scenes to her credit based on the photos I accidentally came across... since Daenerys spends most of her time in the books sans clothing that's probably a good thing.

Basterds was fantastic.  Great tension.  So many unexpected events.  Extremely gratifying.

The only movie I ever wanted to walk out of was Highlander 2... just a horrible, horrible movie... but one of the guys I was with wanted to stay to the end.

WOW!  You walked out of District 9?  Why?  I'd love to know.  Be really specific. I thought it was great, in many ways.  I can't imagine walking out.

My only guess was that it was too violent.  But that's just a guess... that's the only reason I can come up with why somebody would walk out.
