As an interesting post script to this, I received an e-mail from SFBC that their sale was extended until tomorrow so I decided to order a few more of these.  I put these in my 'Cart' and they rang up at $9.99 each again.  I went back to the main web-site to browse for more books, added some more and then went to check out.  When my order was being summarized, the price changed from $9.99 each back to $49.99 each.  I tried removing them from my cart and then adding them again, but they kept coming back as $49.99 each.  I called their Customer Service line and talked to someone and they said that any book that is regularly priced at $39.99 or more does not qualify for the $9.99 sale.  So, it looks like I was lucky a few weeks ago and caught a glitch in their system when I got this for $9.99!

Kubricks / Re: Recent Acquisitions
« on: January 2, 2008, 03:34 PM »
Haven't updated things in a while...  I recently bought a bunch of 'fodder' figures for more customs (IG-88, Luke X-Wing, Hoth Han, Red Royal Guards, Ceremony Luke).  I also sealed a deal with someone over at Kubrick Nation for the Series 4 Luke/Vader chase, Series 5 Walrusman chase, 3 Series 2 Cantina Band members, Series 4 Bespin Luke and Series 4 Emperor.  Lastly, I got the Matrix Reloaded Keymaker chase figure off ebay.

Wow, I don't know if I can hold back from bidding on this one... It's such a great figure I hope I can get it for less than $100 ::)

Please let us know if it is the same size or not. I'm real curious to know now. It's hard to believe that a book as expensive as that was in book stores is selling for $10.00 if it's the exact same.

Got my SW Vault book from SFBC in the mail on Monday.  It's the same one as the retail version.

Watto's Junk Yard / Happy New Year!
« on: January 1, 2008, 10:39 AM »
Just wanted to say Happy New Year to everyone here at JD.  Hope everyone had a great time last night and made it home safe.

Since my wife and I haven't gone out since our sons were born, I'm interested to hear what everyone did last night.  We had a quiet night at home and were asleep by 10:30.  I know, boring, but when the boys are up at 6:00 or earlier, it makes staying up and drinking until past midnight less appealing.

Glad the paints seemed to work out okay.

Yeah, the Fair Shadow was a spot on match to the face color.  I needed to do a few coats though before I was satisfied with the coverage.  Also, it wasn't until I put the clear dull coat on that I was really satisfied with how it came out.  Thanks again for letting me use more of your supplies...  Looks like if I keep this up I'm going to have to get my own.

Very nice job, keep the customs coming.  :)

Well, since you mention it, I'm already working on my next one... Ceremony Han from A New Hope.

Kubricks / Re: Comic-Pack Luke Custom Kubrick
« on: December 31, 2007, 02:04 PM »
As a teaser, I'm also working on a Luke Skywalker from the Heir to the Empire Comic Pack.  I hope to have that one done by the end of the year...

As promised, here's the Comic-Pack Luke and a helmet off version of the Series 6 Luke X-Wing Pilot.  I ended up using the left over Series 2 Han and Series 6 X-Wing Luke pieces from when I made the Baron Fel to make the Comic-Pack Luke.  You can't really see it in the picture very well, but I painted the arms and hands to match the face skin color, and painted the torso as a tank top instead of the v-neck that the Series 2 Han normally is.

For the helmet off X-Wing Luke, I was able to use the existing Series 6 figure and the TRU set hair from the Ceremony Luke figure.  I just scraped off the chin strap from the head instead of trying a head swap.  Enjoy.

My gifts weren't nearly as plentiful as you guys, but I received the only gift I relly wanted this year.  My wife bought me an 80G iPod Classic and a $25 iTunes gift card.  It's going to take me a month just to download all my CD's, but it's well worth it.

I also got an olympic sized curl bar, olympic sized dumbbells and House, M.D. Series 2 on DVD.

Oh boy, 2008 is shaping up to be an expensive year for Kubricks...  Can't wait to get this one, no matter what it costs me!  Thanks for sharing the info Jeff.

Please let us know if it is the same size or not. I'm real curious to know now. It's hard to believe that a book as expensive as that was in book stores is selling for $10.00 if it's the exact same.

Trust me, I'm about as surprised as you are.  At first I couldn't believe it when it showed up as $9.99 in my cart, so I had BrentS confirm my eyes.  Needless to say, he ordered one too when he saw the price.

Here's the description from the web-site:

"Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first Star Wars® movie with this commemorative gift package! The Star Wars Vault draws from the vast Lucasfilm archives to present an unprecedented history and tribute to the films and the innovations they sparked. Among its wonders are • a 128-page book featuring more than 50 pieces of interactive memorabilia, including reproductions of Lucas's  handwritten script pages, flip-through catalogs, posters, t-shirt transfers, stickers, blueprints, animation cels, and more • approximately 250 full-color and black-and-white images • two CDs—over 2 hours!—of vintage radio ads, original cast interviews, excerpts from the NPR Star Wars radio drama, and more. Slipcased. 2007."

Comparing that to the Amazon.com description, it's the same.  It doesn't give the book's dimensions like they do on Amazon, but if it contains everything listed above, I have to believe it's the same size as the one offered in stores and on-line.  I'll definitely let you know once it arrives.

Oh, btw, I got it shipped for free too because I ended up spending more than $25...

Title says it all.  I have either an UGH McQuarrie Stormtrooper or UGH McQuarrie Boba Fett for trade.  I am looking for the McQuarrie Rebel Trooper.  Would like to handle this as a 1 for 1 trade.  Please PM me if you can help me out.  Thanks.

Aren't all books from SFBC smaller than the ones you buy in stores? Does it still come with the CD's? For me personally, I always want the first edition. I'll make an exception if it was only released in hard back through SFBC though. That's what I did for the MedStar books. My one hardcover, looks much better than two small soft cover books.

Yeah, all the novels are slightly smaller, but I see no difference in the 'reference' books like the Visual Dictionary.  It appears to be the same release that you find in stores.  That being said, I won't know if SW Vault is smaller until it shows up.  And yes, it still comes with the CD's.

Alright....here is the best deal I've seen on this book yet. Walmart.com has it for $45.21! Go get it.

I've got that beat.  I just ordered mine from SFBK for $9.99 :o!!!  They are having a $9.99 sale on almost everything on their web-site.

It's really too bad that they don't have Chronicles I or II...
