Power of the Jedi / Re: Biker Scout - Clean Version
« on: July 23, 2003, 12:48 PM »
I have heard a rumor that the upcoming Bike Scout Army builder pack (if it ever gets released) will consist of 2 clean and 2 dirty.

Well another one has popped up and only $100 for 3450 points.  What a bargain.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Found New Figs, But Not For Sale?
« on: July 23, 2003, 12:07 PM »
Wal Marts will be carrying Star Wars toys, simply not the Clone Wars 3 Packs. This makes no sense to me, because as you stated, if there is product in the back they will be selling it and with only 10 figures on the pegs they should restock. Personally, I would have talked with the manager about this situation. Now, I am not calling anyone out (this is just to vent), but it is so easy to complain about Wal Mart, but I don't see the collectors trying to do anything about it.

Chris, perhaps you could clarify for me why you could this this happening, I have a feeling that I am just missing something. If there are no Hasbro "not to be released by..." than I see no reason why those items could not have been taken out from the back for you, seems to me like pure laziness.

Chris, the sad part is that the Mgr is the one who told the stockperson not to put them out.  The only thing I can think of is this:  The SW section is only limited to one 4 ft section in my town and even though there were only 10 figs on the shelf, there were at least 50 Cantina Sets which filled all the pegs.  There was no room for any more figs, and the fact that they could not distinguish regular figs and the Cantina sets is beyond me.

That right you heard it right.  Walmart Blows!  I went there early this morning hoping for a miracle and what did I find?  The same 10 Padme Pilots and Jangos, plus about 50 Cantina Packs.  I asked a stockperson in Toys if he could check the back.  He scanned one of the pegs and told me that the inventory showed about 100 figs.  With only 10 or so figs on the peg I got excited thinking I was finally going to score.  So he went out back and returned empty handed.  The verdict?  No figs on the floor til the pegs had been cleared.  Do you believe it?  I wonder how many more stores are sitting on product.  I was fully prepared to spend a good chunk of change but they did not want my money.  Whats going to happen?  The figs will probably be returned for credit in the future, leaving us collectors empty handed and making twice as much work for Walmart to return the items in the future.  Where is the logic?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Saddam's Two Sons Killed in U.S. Raid

I would love to know how Saddam is feeling about all of this.   ;D

We will probably find out in a day or two.  One of two things will happen.  Saddam will either deny there deaths or will accept it and sniper attacks will increase.  On a side note, did anyone look into the background of those two psychos?  Its amazing how many deaths and the forms of death that they carried out.  Nevermind the torture or abuse of young women.  They will definitely not be missed.

Saga '02-'04 / Jedi Points on Ebay? Give me a break!

Check out this auction:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%

This numbnuts wants $50 for his points.  Two things come to mind here.  That probably wont be enough points to win anything, plus you can already buy some of the planned items if you had $50.  I hope anyone that who buys these gets burned.  Opinions?

Power of the Force 2 / Re: which one is rarest?
« on: July 22, 2003, 03:30 PM »
Out of the original 3 listed, Vader retooled would be the easiest to acquire.  Weequay may be the toughest.  Although I saw him once on the pegs (passed him up for a FF Tie Pilot).  The Leia rarely comes up for sale or on auction.  Just my opinion.

I am definitely not disappointed.  I dont mind EU, but I think it should be limited.  That way people dont get too overwhelmed with material that never made it into the movie.

Saga '02-'04 / Imperial Officer Brown Hair, Scarce?
« on: July 22, 2003, 07:52 AM »
Anyone have no trouble finding multiples of this fig?  This to me was the toughest figure to acquire of late.  No online sellers have him and he rarely comes up on ebay.  Whats the story with the variant head sculpts?  I thought these would be somewhat easy to find.  On the other hand, the blonde variant is everywhere, and seems to be shipping in greater numbers.

Newbies / I Just Wanted to Say...................

I am officially back in the SW community and think I will set up home here at JD.  It seems like alot of old familiar faces are hanging out here which I have really missed over the last half year.  Just wanted to send out a big hey to all those that have helped me out these past several years and especially the last several months.  Special thanks go out to OCB and Jedimac for welcoming me back.   ;D

I dont know if anyone else is willing, but if these auctions go for crazy prices, then I say we all band together our points.  If we win offer them in some kind of contest on the site.

8000 points??!!  How you could you NOT be in the running for something??  I opened all my dolls, ships and other stuff (not all my figures but about half) and I have less than half the points you do!  Heck, I even have the UPC pieces that have no points (Jabba's dancers, orange card back etc..) .
Just curious if you collect dolls also or if all your points are from figures and ships??

All my points are from Figs, Ships, Beasts and Playsets.  At one point I had quite a few army builders which allowed me to acquire so many points. I sold most of my collection about 6 months ago due to  personal reasons and within the last few months have been re-acquiring what I had sold off.  Which in turn has allowed me even more points.  I gave away about 2000 more points to me nephew recently when he heard about the news of the auction. It may seem like alot, but I am sure there are greater numbers out there.  Plus, some online dealers must have tons of these.

Like everyone else, I totally disagree with  the way Hasbro handled the JP's.  I just hope the figs dont end up being 10,000 points for some figure that has already been released. I also hope that collectors are not beat out by online stores.  What also scares me is the quantities available on a fig.  If they have a dozen TF Vaders then you are screwed.  Thousands of people will be bidding, leaving 99.9% with nothing to show.  This promotion will most likely fail and the Jedi Points in the future will be useless.  BTW, I have close to 8000 points and I probably dont even have a chance.

Anyone remember these? It got me thinking after I saw the Garbage Pail Kids thread.  These were great IMO.  I still have some of mine from the early '70's as well as the early '80's.  It seems Topps used to issue these every 10 years or so.  Heres hoping they make a future return.
