Not sure if anyone would care, but I was at KMart yesterday and anything in their clearance section was an additional 50% off.  So the Imperial ARC fighter and Clone Wars Y-Wing, which were $52ish, were clearance priced to $42 (I think) meaning they were $21 or so.  They also had the Clone trooper helmets, the RC-R2 and a smattering of Lightsabers and Blasters.

Elevator etiquette, or lack thereof.

Case in point:

The building I work in has a cafeteria on the first floor and then a handful of floors above it.  There are three elevators (two can accomidate about 6 people, while the other can handle about 12-15).

I arrive at work this morning and the large elevator is just opening, the first person to get on is carrying their breakfast in both hands (cup of coffee & a plate full of something...), and there about four other people getting on as well.

The first person on is only going up one floor (annoying on its own, but whatever).  They manage with some difficulty, to hit the button for their floor (their hands are full remember, and they could have asked any of the 4 people waiting to get on, who have free hands, to push the button for them, but instead they block the doorway while they struggle to extend one finger....).

Then 'breakfast hands' decides to stand less than 6 inches from the elevator buttons....  You are the first person on and you are going to block all the buttons?  So instead of trying to squeeze by to push the button for my floor, I simply ask: "Could you hit 5, please?".  No response.  Instead 'breakfast hands' moves away from the buttons....  I hear a voice behind me comment, "I guess that's a 'No.'"

Seriously are elevators that complex?  Let the people get out first.  Then move all the way on.  If the elevator is even partly full and you can't reach the buttons, ask for someone to hit the button for your floor.  If you can't hit the buttons, don't stand so close to the buttons that no one else can reach.

I think there are plenty of people who haven't had the chance to get these figures yet.  After all there are about a dozen WM for every TRU.  I'd be willing to guess that TRU represents something less than 20% of the total US sales of Vintage (WM~40%, Target~30%, everything else ~10%).  Even if those percents are off Hasbro has made it clear in the Q&As that WM and Target sell far more than TRU.

Went to my local TRU today and they didn't have the new Vintage figures out; not even peg tags for them.  They had Legacy, old & new Saga Legends and old & new TCW.  So atleast some of the stores are sticking with the street date.

Awesome.  That's a great collection of comic packs.  How come those didn't come out in stores and instead we got any of a dozen sets that frankly were nowhere near as exciting?  $15 per plus shipping is a bit steep for me right now, but hopefully I'll be able to get a couple.

Interesting the Minnesota typically rates fairly highly regardless of which particular list you look at though...

That's what happens when your effective tax rate is 60% - you get the best parks, best schools, best arts, etc.  You just don't have any money left to spend on those things  :'(

Not always...

I think it is the same exact ex-walmart employees that personally stomp on each box when they put the shipping label on it.

The labeller is foot operated....

Yahoo has one of those lists every other week, except they look at slightly different characteristics week to week.  The one a few weeks back listed the Capital District in NY in the top ten places to raise a family, but its not even on the list for top places to live....

Interesting the Minnesota typically rates fairly highly regardless of which particular list you look at though...

Whooo hooo!  I finished in second.  I think I was in 6th at the start of, and part way through, the knock out stage.

I thought the Spain-Netherlands game was pretty good.  Though I was shocked by how many chances each team threw away (either by dribbling too much, flubbing shots, etc.).  I'm glad Spain won, they seemed to create more chances on their own.  As for the Dutch, boy they seem to play a style that is hard to like.  The seemed to flop an inordinate number of times, committed more than a couple aggregious fouls (De Jong's kick to the chest?), and seemed to lack a level of chemistry, particularly on defense (lots of finger pointing...).

It probably varies by state, but I can't imagine most states consider contracting an appropriate occupation for children.  You might double check on CA law, but per this Child Labor Pamphlet children under 16 can't be a "student learner or apprentice" in Occupations involved in the operation of power-driven woodworking machines and Occupations involved in the operations of circular saws, band saws, and guillotine shears .

Not sure what type of work they were doing, but it might not be legal from him to take his son on help on job sites.

Not that you should threaten the contractor, maybe just point out that it would be unfortunate if the state was notified.

I think I'm like a lot of people, when I heard TRU was putting them out, I went to take a look but didn't find anything.  Now that they aren't doing their little sale, there isn't a lot of reason to go back until I know they are out, especially given the their price is likely to be a dollar or two more than Walmart and Target.

I'm glad new figures are coming out, it makes for a much more interesting time to be a fan/collector.  But its pretty much the same reaction as to when Tunghori (sp?) has new figures on eBay.  Interesting, but I'm not going to overpay for something I'll probably see in a few weeks anyway.

Wow, that shakes things up a bit.

My TRU didn't have any of the new figures, but remaining SL and Clone Wars figs they had were about $7.50 (might have been $7.49).  I was hoping to take advantage of the BOGO 50% deal, but they really didn't have anything...

Ah, but you have to get them before they make it big (and earn all their money) so that you get half.  So really Rob you should be trolling college golf tournaments....
