Gentle Giant / Re: Gentle Giant Mini-Busts
« on: July 12, 2007, 07:54 PM »
Phew..what a hair losing experience this was for me today. 2 seperate times I had all 3 items IN MY CART that I wanted but kept getting an error message and 'please try resubmitting your order message'. I swear after a combined 50 attempts to resubmit- none worked. So a fellow collector suggested I order one at a time...of course as I put my items back- they statused 'sold-out'. All this not to mention the 30+ minutes I got nowhere because of GG's awesome server upgrade ::). Finally in the end after being in their from the start at 2:08; I got a sole Cody ordered.

I guess now I'll have to wait in lines with the other poor soles at the CON HOPING to get a Yoda Maquette and bust up pair..with my kids dangling >:(.

I even heard GG responded to some folks at RS that complained of the order placing problems..they didn't respond to me however, I was not so lucky..in fact, I didn't even get the email with the link until 4:15PST!!! I only lucked out to be logged into the site when the ordering started-not that it mattered to be sure.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: MLB 2007
« on: July 12, 2007, 03:06 PM »
Personally for me... I think Peter Gammons represents MLB for ESPN. I really dislike the fact that Berman(ESPN posterboy) gets to bump Gammons annually for these events.

Berman is their guy though. He pretty much gets to bump anyone and be on most televised ESPN sporting events. I do get annoyed with Chris' nicknames and backbackback, he-could-go-all-the-way ect's
- come up with some new material already and mix it up-it makes it old and boring for me.

IMO Gammons seems to know his baseball stuff/while Morgan really becomes too opinionated at times and is mostly boring to listen to. My personal opinions of course.

......At the same time, theres also been 2-5 GMarines and Airborne troops on the pegs at 4 WM's in my area for a week now; certainly would rarely see a situation like this when clones were in the heyday of their popularity 2-3 years ago.

Additionally tons of DST's and palace guards abound as well- truly troop building looks overrated lately certainly in my area of SOCAL.

Well, judging by the shadowed out characters in the background of this picture:

we know the 5th (middle row to the right) is a Clone commander repaint.

Hmm Hmm Hmmmmm

Do we really? I recall a cantina Han silouette on another 'mystery figure' shadowed pic. Likely true though ;)

I really like how Hasbro threw in the 'EE exclusives(Kir Kanos, Carnor Jax)' as extra fodder in the WAVE 3 Rev1 case ratio coming soon...@ 3 to a case. I guess these weren't selling well.

Won't be selling well? EU, well articulated Imperials won't be selling well? Surely you jest.

Nothing was posted in future tense(Won't)....read it again....'weren't selling well'. Okay so, seeing as these can still be purchased at EE and have not sold out why else would they add them to a case? I'm not jesting either. Though the sarcasm is evident.

Go figure as well that the 2 pack seeming to get the positive props(dark womans' seemingly unarticulated knees aside) is only 1 a case ::).

Anyone know what WAVE 3 case looks like as far as quantities?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The Transformers Live Action Movies
« on: July 10, 2007, 10:27 AM »
Particularly one scene where Megatron kills and how he does it...??

My wife and daughter had zero interest in the movie as well; well, initially.

My son and I won the battle to see it thankfully. The movie actually won the girls over though- they came out of movie really pleased and entertained.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Is Indiana Jones a Hack?
« on: July 9, 2007, 04:08 PM »
Typical Hollywood representation of any type of specialty.  How exciting would it be to actually watch Indy going through the card catalogue, hike up several flights of stairs, pull some dusty tomes from some equally dusty stacks and then page through ancient writings?  Not really, right?  So creative liberties are taken to make things more exciting.

You need to turn your brain off to watch pretty much anything that comes out of Hollywood or in movie/tv-land in general.  Life, jobs, etc. are pretty much boring.  Science isn't near as exciting as CSI would have you believe.  It's all garbage if you're examining it for factual accuracy.

Turn off brain and you're happy.  Think about the details and you'll find horrible inconsistencies abound.

Thanks Brent. I started from the top of this thread, and was thinking exactly what you wrote/posted. Thanks for the reality check. Like you say so many movies would REALLY SUCK if they perfectly attuned to reality.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Target's new policy
« on: July 9, 2007, 10:59 AM »
This isn't a new policy as much as it is a local store one. As many have already mentioned ..One thing that can be counted on is inconsistency from store to store.

My hometown has a store that still has the buttons on the customer scanners to enter DCPI #'s- entering the DCPI then getting an employee to get stuff works well..they can't lie to me when I tell them the DCPI'd # shows Quantities in the stockroom-works even better if there's shelfroom.

However, in my area of collecting, all Targets are anti-adult for acquistitions. Calling corporate does nothing either to these stores-all folks do when they do this is piss employees off more and make it worse for themselves. From what I've seen- complaining to 'corporate' is a powerless venture. I only can get exclusives at these stores occasionally by contacting secret employees that 'say-screw the store policy, I'm making a sale here' or pretty good results by asking for help from electronics, changing booth area, ect. Even having one store call another to set aside quantities seems to work-but for some reason when I go in anti-collecting stores they have their customer support folks anti-collector trained as well-unless there new of course :P.

For the 80th time...the final AOTC Wave is supposed to contain a Concept Rebel Trooper

Yes, yes, yes.   How soon folks forget these things...

And, for the proof:  The Hasbro Stands sticker sheet lists the following:

  • Boba Fett - McQuarrie Concept
  • Chewbacca - McQuarrie Concept
  • C-3PO - McQuarrie Concept
  • Darth Vader - McQuarrie Concept
  • Han Solo- McQuarrie Concept
  • Luke Starkiller - McQuarrie Concept (aka Hero Starkiller)
  • Luke Skywalker - McQuarrie Concept
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi - McQuarrie Concept
  • R2-D2 - McQuarrie Concept
  • Rebel Trooper - McQuarrie Concept
  • Snowtrooper - McQuarrie Concept
  • Stormtrooper - McQuarrie Concept
  • Yoda - McQuarrie Concept

That's the 13 figures.

AND, please note that the sticker sheet also lists General McQuarrie without mentioning him as part of the concept line.

I'm still not sure why Hasbro is still being coy about that AotC Wave when so many of the figures (Voolif Mon, Concept Rebel, Droideka w/Shield) have been leaked or hinted at... hopefully the wave is shown at SDCC so this can be settled once and for all.   ;)

That's interesting.....

I know I posted this somewhere on these boards already but.....
My son, brother and I went and spoke to the Hasbro guys in the booth after the QandA after the panel at C4. They(was it Darrel?) told us that basically, the concept grievous IS a part of the 'concept line' it will even include the same concept packaging too but will have McQuarrie's printed name and signature removed from the packaging. Oh and they told us that the hoth trooper with McQ's face is NOT part of the line(since it's not a concept)-instead it's meant as a tribute.

We started the conversation off with..something to the effect of '12 figures' and Hasbro (there was 3 of them) countered with ' when did we say there was 12?? ' and had a big laugh about it. After continued discussion they gave the answers above later.

Rogue One / The Playset Thread
« on: July 7, 2007, 06:08 PM »
*sigh*..shakes head

I'll put this spin on it.
I would like a new, well designed, playable playset-I really would. Unfortunately, from all the product out there from all the vendors right now- I really wouldn't be able to afford one this year anyway- So I'm pleased none are announced by anyone.
