TV-9D9 / Re: The Clone Wars - Season Four Discussion Thread

To be honest I was kind of expecting more from the new trailer, but I'd gander that Filoni's waiting to show more at SDCC. I wonder if this season will have a central theme.

I'm starting to wonder if Filoni is trying to re-do many previously done battles. He did it with Kamino in Season 3 (that battle had previously shown up in a comic) and he's doing it again with Mon Calamari. By the looks of Ahoska's presence in the battle, it makes sense that he's trying to slip her into previously established lore so that it doesn't look like she's been absent in more than half the stuff created before she was.

So I'm a little confused about this "Revenge" subline - is it being released as a standard TVC wave? I had thought at first that it was a SDCC exclusive that was also going to be released in stores as a chase assortment, of sorts.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Background character resculpts

Quinlan Vos... before anyone says he's an EU character (and technically he is), let's not forget he was in the background of Ep.I! ;D I could actually see Hasbro resculpting a new Quinlan Vos (I hate both CP versions of him, they're absolutely terrible) and putting him on an Ep.I-themed Vintage card.

If Hasbro makes only one action figure from the newest trailer, please let it be Malgus' Sith Master. I don't think he looks very impressive without his helmet/mask on, he has a much sleeker Sith look wearing it.

Is it me or are there just too many similarities between this stuff and old SW stuff? I seriously thought they were ripping off Indiana Jones when they showed the first shots of the smuggler dude - then you see he looks more like Cad Bane, but his personality is that of Han Solo's! Even his ship sorta looks like the Millenium Falcon...

I do like how OT and PT stuff is blended well into these trailers. Very creative.

Holy moly, I'll happily dish out the $9+ for Savage! I like that Hasbro seems to have put more effort into this sculpt than the shirtless version - with soft-goods, and even the headsculpt on this armored version looks truer to the show. I hate that Hasbro's continuing the trend of short lightsaber blades! >:(

I like the CW '03 microseries-inspired helmet on Saesee Tiin. I can't figure out what's that on his back though. And how is Seripas supposed to fit on a standard card?! :o

That Plo Koon looks pretty spiffy... I wouldn't mind if I skipped shirtless Savage, the armored version looks tons better.

I took a look at some of the up-close carded shots JTA has of these... dang. This has got to be one of the best waves of TVC. I'm wondering if they'll ever hit my area, though.

I'm kinda bummed that Adi Gallia wasn't on the list - I wonder if we'll ever get her. She's been on so many episodes of the show by now, and from the previews she's also set to be in Season 4. I am glad that Saessee Tin and Even Piell made the line-up, though.

To me, Legacy was more of them pulling out all the stops than Vintage has been...

You make a great point here - and in a way, The Legacy Collection was in some ways better than TVC (don't get me wrong, I love TVC). As for pricing and availability during the TLC era, it was much easier to buy a figure from TLC, and yet the line still got the axe. TVC was to start the realistic figure line fresh all over again, and it did - for a while, at least. Once the time comes when TVC starts to take a dip in sales just like TLC did, Hasbro's probably going to end the line, whether or not there's a nostalgia to the packaging.

If the set of them are around $156, that makes them around $26 each, right? I definitely want to get a few of these, I just hope Hasbro doesn't go overboard on them with the prices.

I'm glad Hasbro was smart enough to place Savage in 3 different cases - figures are already hard to find as it is with the distribution problem, and something tells me that Savage in specific will be a hit with kids and collectors alike - maybe even with the casual buyers, being that he's so similar in design to Darth Maul.

Dang, I almost never buy Han figures - but this one is definitely making it into my collection (provided that I can actually find it at retail and/or before prices hike up another $1-2)! I think the big problem with all previous Han figures is the weird-looking torso and hip area, mainly because of the swivel hips. Ball-jointed hips seem to have solved that problem.

Rebelscum has pictures of the Battle Pack Echo (501st) and a cold weather Plo Koon from a cancelled comic pack. I did not know Clone Wars style comic packs were ever planned.

No, I don't think Hasbro ever planned for TCW-themed Comic Packs - this version of Plo Koon is actually from a comic book miniseries for TCW. I'm surprised they even made this figure, especially since it'll be interesting to see what the figure's packaging looks like. Maybe there'll even be an episode using this character model.

Just seeing all those AOTC figures at a Disney Store, no less, made me angry at the Target stores near me, haha.
