Sorry for the double post, but I went out today to one last Walmart in a neighboring rural community and found 10 of the exclusive Scarif Stormtroopoer figures and took home a couple of them.  I've had better luck these past two days checking Walmarts and other stores in more rural, isolated communities than I have in more urban areas.  Possibly a good strategy to employ if you are looking for these figures and can't find them in your area.

Update to my previous post - today I decided to head out to one of the more distant Walmarts in my area (the Kerman, CA store).  Turned out to be worth the trip as they had at least 10 of the Scarif Stormtrooper figures for the $16.82 price!  There was only one figure on the pegs and the rest were in a Star Wars end cap display.  A number of the boxes had dust on them, so they may have been there a while...  Either way, I'm glad to have finally come across them ;D

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: Walgreens Black Series 6" C-3PO

I have not come across this anywhere in my area yet, and it is annoying.  I keep thinking Walgreens will get a bunch in and they'll stick around, but at the same time I'm also not holding my breath...  However, I did find the TFA "red arm" C3PO at a Walmart in a rural area today, so at least my R2D2 finally has his companion  ;)

Was out on a business trip this morning and decided to hit a few Walmarts and Targets on my way back to see what I could find.  At the Walmart in Patterson, CA, I found some Director Krennic and TFA C3PO figures.  At the Target in Los Banos, CA, I found some Ashoka Tano and Kannan Jarus figures as well.  I did not see any sign of the Walmart exclusive Scariff Storm Trooper or the Scariff Storm Trooper squad leader figures.  Nevertheless, I had been looking for all of the figures I found, so it was a really good haul  :)

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: Recent purchases
« on: December 6, 2016, 06:16 PM »
Was out on a road trip for business in Central CA today and decided to hit up a few Walmarts in some rural areas on my way back home...  Proved to be worth the effort as I came across the 3.75" Black Series Scariff Storm Trooper and Cassian Andor figures at two stores in Patterson and Los Banos, CA.  Plenty more left.  They also had plenty of the Jyn Erso, Death Trooper, Admiral Ackbar, Lando, Rey, Han Solo (ROTJ), and General Leia (TFA) figures, as well as a smattering of those left from earlier waves like Finn, Poe Dameron, etc.  Was elated to find the Rouge One 3.75" figures and got multiples of them.  One of the best Star Wars hauls I've had in a while actually  ;D

The whole WM exclusive thing is an utter and complete disaster here in SoCal's San Fernando Valley. We have four stores. In Woodland Hills, employees are stealing the stock. Just today their system shows they have a case of these and no one can find them. Same store has not had 3.75 Black series at all since before Sept 30th because their system shows they have two cases on hand and no one can find them. In Burbank, a Hot Wheels guy has claimed ownership to the store. He tells anyone looking for Hot Wheels, Star Wars or Marvel Legends to "Find another store, this one's mine." He physically blocks people from getting product and none of the employees care. In fact, I've seen them bring him a fresh case of 6 inch Wave 2 on Monday. Panorama City is a joke. They're clogged with old product and refuse to make room for new stock. I had a conversation with their toy people and management and they just don't grasp the concept that the are sacrificing the sale of 100 pieces to move 10. Porter Ranch, the final store, is just too far out of my way and they have a very small and empty SW section. On-Line, we all know the deal there. So in one of the Largest cities in the US, WM can't figure out how to supply their stores.

Likely the same story a little ways north of you in my area in Fresno...  I hit several Walmarts over the weekend to little avail.  I did manage to find some of the new 3.75" Rogue One figures (so not a complete bust) but none of the new Wave 2 and exclusive 6" figures.  There are still Finn and Constable Zuvio figures en masse at some locations!  However in my area there are 6 Walmarts in about a 10 mile radius with that number increasing to 11-12 if I go further afield, so somewhere there has to be something.  I have found previous exclusives (like that Shocktrooper figure from last year) typically at stores in lower-income areas of town where the general populace doesn't want to pay $20 for an action figure...

A local TRU had at least six of the Hovertank pilots on the pegs for the $19.99 price, so I picked one up.  Have not seen the Wave 2 stuff around my area in central CA at mass retail, but likely it has arrived, been snagged by others, and I've just not come across any of it yet.  I did get the Scariff beach trooper and Krennic figures at a specialty retailer a couple weeks ago, but paid a bit more for them.  They were too awesome-looking to leave behind.

Visited a small retailer called "Ryan's Toy Connection" in Bakersfield, CA over the weekend where I picked up part of the Rogue One Black Series Wave 2 assortment, including Krennic and Scarif Stormtrooper.  Both are awesome figures and Krennic has to be one of my most favorites in the 6" Black Series line to date.  He looks menacing and stunning in his white uniform and cape 8)

For anyone on the west coast traveling through California, Ryan's Toy Connection is worth the stop if you come by on a day when they're open...  It is a small store filled floor to ceiling with just about every action figure you can imagine, including a room with hundreds of Star Wars figures and vehicles.  Prices can be high, but then that is expected for a mom-and-pop type establishment...  Here is their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Ryans-Toy-Connection-148095805211958/

I already found the TFA C3PO at a small retailer, but held off in favor of eventually coming across the OT version at a local Walgreens...  My Black Series R2D2 has been lonely for quite some time ;)

Rogue One / Re: Rogue One Rebel U-Wing Fighter

Im curious and apprehensive to see one of these toys in person. I would like to know if a custom compartment could be added to the under carriage to seat four figures or so.

I get the sense from the Rouge One previews - and even the giant hanging cardboard U-Wing display I've seen at Walmart and other stores - that the U-Wing is a larger ship apparently with a cargo bay or troop compartment that has side doors and a ramp.  The ship certainly is not as big as a light freighter like the Millennium Falcon, though it is likely larger than a standard star fighter like an X-Wing or Y-Wing.  That said, the toy is almost certainly under scaled.  The cockpit only holds one figure and if you were to remove the nerf gun and open up the underside, you could maybe hold 2-3 figures sitting only.

Here is a size comparison shot of the new U-Wing with the Legacy Collection Wedge Antilles X-Wing and another picture showing a profile view of the U-Wing with the Cassian Andor figure for size comparison:

The toy U-Wing appears longer than the X-Wing, but that is only the wings.  Its fuselage, while somewhat beefier, is shorter.  I am not saying that is how those ships compare in-scale since both toys are obviously out of scale...

I was in a local Big Lots store this morning, checking out the annual restock of the Power Team Elite military figures & vehicles when I saw they had the complete wave 1 of the Rouge One figures :o  That didn't take long for them to show up at second-hand retail...  They were priced at $8.00 a piece - slightly more expensive than Target & Walmart, but cheaper than Toys R Us.

I got the U-Wing this past Friday and finally opened it up...  The ship is way under-scaled but is nice unto itself.  Much better than the X-Wing from the TFA lineup! I like the fact that the nerf cannon retracts into the ship so it is hidden.   The wing folding feature is prett cool, though.  It is kind of reminiscent of the folding wings on the old GI Joe Skystriker jet in that you pull a switch on the upper rear of the fuselage and they fold or extend.  Nice to see retractable landing gear as well.  While the cockpit canopy has a cool shape, there is only really basic details inside.  Interestingly, there is a small hole where you can stow Capt. Andor's gun and there's an elastic cord stretched across the cockpit floor to act as a seat belt of sorts.  The Cassian Andor figure is nice and I like it.  I was planning to use a Rebel pilot figure for the pilot, but have kept the Andor figure in it instead.  This ship should have been made at least twice its size and included a usable troop compartment and working ramp, but oh well...  It fits in well enough with my other Rebel ships (especially the X-Wing) so I think I'll just wind up using it as a heavy fighter-bomber or gunship as opposed to a transport.  But still, it's a good effort and fun toy.

I haven't gotten any of the carded 3.75" figures yet, save the ones that came with the ships/vehicles I got.  That said, it looks like I may need to get some...  The Capt. Cassian and Imperial Pilot figures that came with the U-Wing and TIE Striker are quite good overall.

Rogue One / Re: Rogue One Imperial AT-ACT Set

$300 is too much to spend for a Star Wars toy for me...  Living in California, I need that kind of money for soon-to-be-banned ammunition and other things like gas, food, house payments, etc.  Yes, I have spent much more than $300 on other collectable items, but for a walking nerf gun, it is too much...  Besides, I have my giant AT-AT from the Legacy Collection, which I think is awesome and perfectly suits my needs  ;)

Rogue One / Re: Rogue One TIE Striker
« on: September 30, 2016, 09:02 PM »
I've just opened and assembled the TIE now and IMHO, the TIE is probably the the best star fighter of the new line so far...  It more than makes up for the crappy TFA First Order TIE fighter and fits perfectly with existing Original Trilogy vehicles.  It is in scale with the Legacy/Vintage series TIE Interceptor, TIE Fighter, and TIE bomber.  The cockpit is rather well detailed with the seat and controls.  It is not nearly the realistic detail of the Legacy series TIEs, but far better than the First Order TIE we got last year and far better than that box the pilot sat in with the old vintage TIEs.  The nerf cannon is pretty well hidden between the chin guns under the cockpit and is not as much of an eyesore.  The wings are designed to raise up (landing configuration) and lower (combat configuration).  The narrative blurb on the box hints the reason for this feature as the TIE Striker is designed for use in atmospheric conditions.  The biggest potential drawback with the TIE is the soft plastic used for the wings.  They are a bit rubbery and I can see wing warping potentially being a problem.  The wings were well secured in the box, however and mine came out unbent.  The Imperial pilot that comes with the TIE is just a run-of-the-mill Imperial pilot, though it is actually a great sculpt with crisp detailing, despite being only a 5-POA figure.  I'm using one of the Legacy/Vintage series TIE pilots with the removable helmets instead.  Overall, I'm really happy with the TIE Striker ;D
