Picked up today the members of the Hoth wave I wanted (so they hit Utah today). Also saw that they put out about 3 cases of the Carkoon wave with 1 case of Hoth.

This is only my opinion. TRU closings are not good for anyone who collects. It eliminates stores that provides options and product for us to buy. Regardless of past experiences, TRU stores closing are not good. The day is rapidly coming where it will be only Walmart and Target that will carry the line, with each region have their own local stores that seem to carry the line; more so in a movie year, less in non-movie years. When that day comes, competition will become even much more fierce. What is even scarier is that when we come down to two national retailers (three I guess if you include Kmart which I don't), when the day comes that the line is not "profitable" for one or the other retailer, the store's toy buyers will stop carrying the line and that will effectively kill the line. So though the line will continue to do well over the next two years, I guess what I am saying is that in my opinion, the consolidation of stores does not bode well for the long term health of the line.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS variation/error thread

Based on what I have seen, this is the older version, not the corrected one. I didn't find one (then again, I didn't look real hard either) so at this time, I have given up on finding the Bly variation.

I'll vote that they are the deluxe clones painted as shock troopers (same as the ones we got in the attack on corusant).  Not saying the picture shows that but I wouldn't bet against Hasbro doing that.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: SAGA price hike?

Seems like the price increase may be on...
EDIT:

BTW it's so great to say this here without some dickless wonder telling me how "If a $1 or $2 increase is really that big a deal to you, you probably should quit collecting and being so cheap, or go get a real job"...  Last I looked, that was a popular thing to spout off about elsewhere for some folks...  Glad to see we can talk price increases here and not have to demean each other about how we view value and our spending habits.  Good knowing we've got a solid respectful group guys, seriously.

I agree with you on this Jesse. Truly with me and where I am at in this stage of life, money is truly not the problem/issue. However, one of the reasons for that is the wife (who is an accountant) and I run our budget and I budget for my collecting. When the budget is gone, I don't buy until the next month (same with other things we purchase).  It is what I am willing to pay for a product vs the quality I am receiving. FOR ME, anything above $6.25 and I have to look at the figure, the quality of the figure, the articulation, and if it fits into one of my main collecting themes. Lower then $6 and I buy extras for army building and for customs, and extras of figures I really like since the same collecting budget buys more when the figures are reasonably priced.

$5.88 isn't too shabby...  About what we paid all year...  That $6.99's gonna suck though if TRU doesn't budge on price.  It'll just be another reason not to go to TRU ever.

Yep, that is where ROTS started, and at that time I had no intention to buy one of everything in that line (for the single figures) and that did not change until the price dropped. Luckily, when the price dropped I was able to find everything I needed (I did buy some at the $5.88, but again, only what I wanted).  The difference is 6 figures at $5.88 and tax here are $37.61, while 6 figures at $4.77 are $30.51, or a $7 difference. Times that $7 over 10 waves and $70 is alot of collecting money to spend on repack figures. Thus the price for me makes the difference of picking up a repack or passing on it, even a modified repack like Fett.

These hit Utah today/tonight at Walmarts. $5.88 also here. Picked up the ones I wanted leaving the ones I didn't. I would have to say that even the $5.88 price range still greatly alters my buying habits. I will purchase only the figures I really like/want and leave the rest. If they were the $5 dollar range, I would probably alter that. I'll be surprised if we see prices drop at Walmart on this wave.

This hit Utah today/tonight at Walmarts. At one Walmart they were missing the Chewies then the other had them. Bought the ones I wanted. Now bring on the next two waves! Will say that the $5.88 price point WILL definetly make me very selective on the Saga line.

Stupid question, but since they ship in April do they charge the credit card in April or now (sorry, haven't paid attention in the past)?  I am still unsure about these. Part of me wants them for nostalgia, part becasue they are minor characters, and part of me says they are a waste. Price is not the factor since if I decide I want them, I'll buy them.
So, can anyone help me with the inital question?

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Peg/Shelf Space
« on: December 22, 2005, 07:18 AM »
I would say that between 8 to 16 pegs is what we'll see. What may be concerrning is that it seems in most case assortments (as seen over on EE), the more popular figures are 1 per case, while other figures (wave 3 as an example has 2 C3P0, 2 Poggle the Lesser, 2 Sun Lac and 2 Yoda's while the popular figures are only 1 per case) which are the least popular are only 1 per case. I have to admit that the Hoth wave based on EE seems to have more of the popular figures at the 2 level (2x General Veers with Removable Armor and blaster (Saga #7), 2x Major Bren Derlin (Saga #8), 2x AT-AT Driver with blaster (Saga #9), 1x R2-D2 with Rebel travel accessories (Saga #10), 2x Snowtrooper with blaster (Saga #11), 1x General Rieekan with blaster (Saga #12), 1x Darth Vader with lightsaber (Saga #13), 1x Power Droid with Assistant Droid and scanning accessories (Saga #14)), but I do not understand the wave 3 case ratio's. So, I do see the potetional in some areas of the more popular figures becoming hard to find because of the amount of pegs and peg warmers that will be on the shelves. I do not believe that the popularity of the wave will continue (with the casual kids/parents) much beyond late spring/early summer when the new summer block busters with their promotional materials hit retail. Don't take me wrong, product will move, but we all know that some product will peg warm and that if there are enough peg warmers, that can slow up at some stores/areas, the arrival of new product as the warehouse ships only the inital allocation, then never reorders it in.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Christmas and ROTS
« on: December 21, 2005, 02:23 AM »
A friend told me this theory and it makes sense to me kinda of. His theory is the reason many parts of the country is not receiving any further product right now is because Hasbro did not plan for the success they have! In other words, by now the ROTS line has stopped being produced as they switch to the Saga production, and scale back somewhat. Thus, were done! The line is over with! Kapoosh! Thoughts on that theory?
