Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: Clone Wars Adventures?
« on: September 13, 2006, 01:18 PM »
One thing that I've recently noticed is that these are printed on two different types of paper depending on where you get them.  The 'Made in China' version are printed on shiny, more traditional comic book paper, where as the 'Made in Canada' versions are on non-shiny paper.  All of mine are the Canadian versions and it doesn't bother me, but a friend of mine will only buy the Chinese versions.  To each their own.

Just got Legacy #3 today during lunch.  My favorite part of this issue is when Luke makes a surprise appearance to talk to Cade.

A few more characters introduced and a few plots starting to hatch.  I just hope that they don't take another two months to release #4.  The wait for #3 was brutal.

I definitely agree with you there.  I really like the feel of the 11.5g chips and having 500 in a set would put me all in for two sets without hesitation.  I don't see myself getting three sets.  That's really unfortunate because I liked how these looked when I saw them at CIII.

Found the original e-mail:

Dear Michael,

I believe we will be doing this product evenyually. It had been pushed
back due to the volume of products we are releasing at the moment. I believe the Marvel one will be released first and then the Star Wars one. I do not have any specifics however on when.I am sorry I can not be more informative.

Sincerely,

Jerry

I had e-mailed MR a few months ago about this and they replied that this was still going to be coming out, but that they were pushing their other merchandise first.  They wouldn't confirm a date, but gave me a 'soon' reply.

Can't wait to get one or two sets.  My current 11.5g set needs to be replaced and this would be the perfect set to do so.  Any word on how many will be in a set (300? 500?)

We only have one dog, Buffy, our harlequin Great Dane.  But with as big as she is and how much she eats, we could probably count her as two or more!

You may have drawn the most awesome design, but chances are 100% that someone has a slightly varied interpretation of the exact same design in the exact same place somewhere in the world.

I disagree with you, and I'll bet that you'll probably disagree with me. ;)  If it's a slightly varied interpretation then it's not the same.  Both are unique to the bearer because they are what the bearer has assigned their own meaning to.

In my last post, I wasn't trying to imply that my tattoos make me unique.  I was simply stating that my tattoos are my own in both origin and meaning.  If someone has copied them, oh well, I can't control that.  I was also agreeing with Morgbug's point that if you are doing this simply because you THINK that having a tattoo is going to make you unique, and you pick one off the wall, chances are it won't be.

How many of you can accurately read Chinese?  How do you know that every Chinese person in the world isn't laughing their ass off at you behind your back?

I joke about that with my nephew all the time.  He has a tat that supposedly says 'Gifted' and I always tell him it says 'Conceited'.

I was lucky, I had family documents that had the actual symbol for our name on them, so I knew that it was accurate.  But I agree with you 100% and wouldn't trust what's on the wall.

If the decision is because it makes you unique, it probably doesn't.

I was fortunate enough to be able to draw all my own tats, so I'm 100% positive that I was the first to have these.  Now whether or not someone came by the shop I got mine done at and saw the pictures the artists had taken of the final product and wanted the same thing, I can't control.  But I agree that if you're taking a design from a studio, odds are there has been at least one other person that has done it before you.

Make it personal and meaningful to yourself.

I couldn't have said it better myself.  Very well put.

Love them!  But be warned, they become addictive.

Most of my tatoos have significant meaning to me and others were just for fun.  I don't regret any of them and it also helps remind me of the past.

I got my first tat (half dollar sized Chinese symbol) because it had significant meaning to my family.  It's a way for me to show reverence to my great grandfather who immigrated from China to the US, but was forced to change his name upon entering the country.  The crossing swords underneath it enhance the symbol and are meant to represnt my rank of black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  Under the swords is a tribal arm band with a connecting tribal mosaic going down the interior area where the tricep and bicep meet.

On the other arm is a tat of the Yin and Yang in blue and green over the Sun in yellow, red and orange on my deltoid.  This was the last tat I got, the one that hurt the most, but it was the one that I got with my wife.  She was my girlfriend at the time and had been thinking about getting one for quite some time (her sister has a few).  So we went together and she got a sunburst tat on her lower back.

Now that I have two children, I want to get their names placed over my heart.  My wife has actually put the kibosh on that one though.  She thinks I have enough.  Looks like the SOX tat I had planned to commemorate the 2005 World Champs is out of the question too... ;D

My recommendation to you if you are still considering one, make sure it has meaning to you and you will never regret it.  I love telling people about mine.  In terms of placement, what  I've told my neices in the past is that if you ever are considering having children, don't put one in your lower abdominal area.  If you want to be able to see it on a regular basis, don't put it on your back (my wife always complains about how she can never see hers because of where it is).  But I do have to say that the lower back is my favorite spot for tats on women, as well as on the ankle.

Good luck and report back once you've decided!

Who is HOTF I am Sith? Don't you mean HOTP?

Hero Jeff got my point so all is good now.

Yes, all is right with the world, and thank you for pointing out another mistake in posting.  I was indeed refering to HOTP.

Slothus' Newbie Whipping Boy is now signing off...

Sorry Jeff, on my screen the first picture is the Titanium and the second is the Transformer.  I just had someone else in my office check it from another computer and I see that it's the same picture.  Very weird that it's showing up correctly for me though.  I'll edit accordingly.

Sorry to everyone else for the confusion.

that IS the transformer version; you didn't have to go to GH for those photos...we have them here ::)

I couldn't find the Titanium picture here (not for lack of trying), that's why I went to GH.  OF COURSE I'd like to get my info here, and post it accordingly. ;)

And I know that's the Transformers version, that's why I said it was...

There is also a Star Wars Transformers version in the works:

Thanks for watching my back HoTF.

Found this at GH:

There is also a Star Wars Transformers version in the works as well:

Again, I don't think that a 3 3/4 inch version is out of the question.
