Hmmm, the cardbacks are definitely neat anyway...  Even if I'm not getting half these figures because they're really not worth it to me.

Nonetheless, great cardbacks...  I almost wish the VOTC were on these cards (not only because of the $5 price variance) because I love the specific scenes each has.  Good stuff.

Hey Wai,

You get ahold of any of the VOTC figures yet?  THese are doozies that I've been waiting for here in the States and was wondering if you had a hands-on opinion of them you could give?

These are definitely shaping up to be my favs....

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Rebelscum.. is it just me??
« on: June 12, 2004, 01:47 AM »
Rebelscum's better than a lot of places...  That much I can say for them, and they do have some good staff and good mods there, they're just not filled with them, and my #1 issue would be...

They don't handle ANY actual problems they have.

It's cool they hired GNT to "give him a try" but to say his work there is anything above unacceptable is to give him entirely too much credit/sympathy.  And this is coming from someone who doesn't actually despise him as a hypocrite...  I try giving the benefit of the doubt.

I just see him as NOT being good at his "job" as it were.  You can't be with his personality...  Same can be said for a lot of people deemed moderator at a TON of sites.  Some people don't have the right personality for it because it requires you to bite your tongue in public a LOT.  To me, moderators aren't people you hire based on their activity in a forum, but their quality of posts...  You gotta ask "how often does this guy cause friction or reply to friction?", and understandably (myself included) a lot of people get into debates/arguments at forums.  It's the nature of people.

That said, I still go to Scum...  I've always obeyed their rules (the few times I've been "reprimanded" by staff there were out of line IMO, and not by their best staff), and I enjoy parts of their forums...  They're nothing of what they were when I started at CSW though.  They're a shell of that level of quality by far.

I go to GH.com too of course, but it's not what CSW was.  That's sad too because I was really hoping it would be.  I used to not go to GH.com much at all because I had dial-up and their site loads slowly even on Cablenet for me...  Dial-up then was attrocious.

Good guys there though for the most part, and even disagreements are usually handled tactfully.

Of course, this is my home and I've found it to have the most interesting activity and the most interesting people.  We don't have too many conflicts, and when we do the staff's able to talk about them openly to get a resolution to it.  God knows we've had that problem in the past (not recently, knock on wood).

Scum's got good people at it though, for all its negative attention right now...  With a swift kick in the collective ass of their admin (no offense), it could be better, but I don't foresee this so I'm happily away from there as my SW "home" permanently.  Still fun to stop in, and like Virex said there's definitely some people there that need shaken up once in a while.  For every great member there there are 2 or 3 bad members that just have terrible opinions.

Pittsburgh News:

Mario Lemieux's holding his annual Mario Lemieux Invitational Golf Outing (always star-studded) in Pittsburgh this week, and was speaking publicly about the Penguin's status here in Pittsburgh.

He's disappointed, obviously, because our financially strapped city is dragging their feet in every way possible abut the Penguins (who sport the oldest arena in the NHL) receiving a new arena.

Headlines and reports say that the Penguins aren't for sale YET, but that Lemieux said that without help (and the Pennsylvania Slot Machine legislation going through to help fund it) the likelihood of sale is there.  Without a new arena he just can't make the team marketable or guarantee they will last here.

In a sense, this isn't anything new but people were in a panic on the news channels this evening.

It's disappointing to hear it uttered publicly, but it's nto the first time either.  Our city is financially in the toilet right now, which sucks, but they are still improving.  New stuff's going up routinely.

I think a new Arena's a good idea, and if they'd finally get the slots going we'd have an arena/gambling establishment in the city as well, which would undoubtebly generate revenue.  That seems to have lots of opponents though itself.

The fact the city backed the new stadiums (plural) for the Steelers and Pirates who no longer wished to share, I think it's simply disrespectful of the city to neglect our most recently successful sports team, the Penguins.

The Steelers will always be #1, but the Penguins will always be #1 to me, and should be #2 to the city.  Pirates have a nice stadium, but that's ALL they have, and they're not even known for "giving back" to the community like the Pens have.

I hope the state/city help get us a new arena for the Pens and that my favorite team (and the only one I support till they're out of the running ANY year) doesn't get sold off and leave the city.

It seems like the city's not even willing to discuss it sometimes, and they're telling Lemieux he's 100% on his own t get this stadium built.   ::)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: RIP President Reagan
« on: June 11, 2004, 12:29 AM »
I can't wait for the REST IN PEACE part, myself. Sorry, I'm just sick of the media coverage. Stations should just replace their network logos with "Reagan still dead!" if they really need to constantly remind us all the man's deceased.

Amen...

Let it end...  I'm trying to watch the news, and it's this stuff...

Anyone dying is tragic, even if you don't agree with the political views of the individual who died.  There's no need for this.

And personally, call me crazy, but I find going to see him "tacky".  In my little world you don't go to funerals/viewings unless you can say you knew the person.  Public figure and all aside, it still strikes me as a bit much.

It's sad, but lay off and let life go on like he would have wanted, and like the world does naturally when anyone else passes.

And let me have my TV back because I'd actually like to see a weather report for the weekend instead of a black hearse and some motorcycle cops moving at 2 mph down a highway.

No disrespect of course, as he seems like he was a very polite man in his "normal" life, and that speaks miles about him as a person no matter what way you view him politically.

The ogre-ish one's the one I like.  With the bug-eyes.  Very weird, very non-wookie.  Would make a neat character to stick in the Cantina, or Jabba's Palace, and a nice little McFigure.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: June 10, 2004, 11:04 PM »
In Pittsburgh we're dwn to $1.89 at a lot of shops in my area which means it's likely a LITTLE cheaper nearer the city.

It's cheaper out here if you get your gas at the local Giant Eagle or Get-Go places since Giant Eagle issues $.10 coupons per gallon at their grocery stores (should you shop there).

$1.79's not bad at all, all things cnsidered.  Sad that it was substantially less than that  not too long ago, but that's what things have come to I guess.

Alice has more articulation than the average Star Wars action figure?

Again, Space Marines should be cruising in it, nto Batman.

Weird...  Oh well though, Batman's a lost property to me.  Toys suck and so do his movies.  :(  Too bad he's not getting the same care Spidey did.

I can't even fathom the reasons for that photo myself.

Nude shot, posed, with puppies?  WTF?

I don't even like a pet in the room when I'm with a woman, much less laying with animals while I'm not clothed.  The whole thing is disturbing.

I blame it on the Germans.  It's my only recourse.

Wow...  Just, wow...

I mean, good god.  Looks like someone David knows does his videos with photoshop too.  (No offense DP)

Well, proving once again the theory that Germans love David Hasselhoff...  no matter what sign of the Apocolypse he brings with him.

Looks like Batman's going into space to fight the "Aliens".  Load up the Batmobile with some Space Marines and we'd be all set for Sygourney Weaver to make another comeback.

I can confirm that's the gun from the game...  It's IG-88's rifle.  Good Eye Nataku.  I have no doubt Hasbro is just reissuing that accessory.

In SW EU IG-88's rifle is an Imperial issue blaster used for long-range firing.  Something of a sniper rifle if I'm not mistaken...  Or a more accurate rifle at least than some ther known "canon" Imperial weapons like the Sandtrooper blasters and Stormie blaster.

I believe Scouts, in the game if I'm not mistaken, are also snipers...  So that'd be that then.

Good call on the gun.

I'll be passing unless something entices me to pick the game up.  Being that this game's likely a multi-player focused game with little-to-no Single-Player value it's one I'm not particularly interested in.

It could have some SP features that improve it over a Battlefield 1942 Clone though, and in that case I'd like picking the game up and having this odd figure.

Video game figures are a good idea (to me), but I'd like to see NEW figures done as part of an EU line from video games...  KOTOR, Jedi Knight series, X-Wing series, Rogue Squadron Series, Battlefront, Bounty Hunter, Republic Commando...  there's room to dabble.  :)

On Tough Crowd tonight, a great quote from one of the comics about J-Lo's woes...

"You've been compared to Elizabeth Taylor recently, and that's just not fair.  She made good movies"

hahaha, oh hahahahaha

In my mind it was a think of beauty, but in reality it's pure laughter.

Oh Michael...  I wonder if he can make his rig jump and talk to it?
