Revenge of the Sith / Re: #65 Tactical Ops Trooper (501st)
« on: December 2, 2005, 12:04 AM »
I really did think this day would come. I stopped looking to see if I could find a Bly to see if it is worth buying and I hit 2 Walmarts and 2 Targets, 1 TRU and at the Target and Walmart, I found a total of 12 of these figures, and this was at 6 to 7 pm! I had two in hand at one Target (only 2) and some collector was there with his wife (who is on a business trip from Pennsylvania) so I gave them to hiim (first he had found!). Was nice to see him walk away with 2 sets of the final 5! I think the Tactical ops will no longer be hard to find for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Nice picture and shot ruiner! It made me think of a song whose chorus had a line called

"What might have been"

Well, I hooked up a fellow collector with 6 on Tuesday, and then left 10 more on the pegs last night so I know they are hitting Walmarts here. I have a friend who saw 12 at a local Target yesterday so they have arrived here in Utah (he has 6 which is what he wanted). I have my fill of em and may have 1 too many.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS variation/error thread
« on: December 1, 2005, 01:04 AM »
I've looked at literally over 24 Blys since Nov. 23, and I have yet to see a difference. Can anyone help me to know what to look for when identifying the variant Bly?

Great idea. Forgot about the TRU two pack. Who does Mas come with? Guess I'll pick one up this weekend.

Interesting note from Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader. The ShockTroopers are who accompany Vader where ever he goes and it is from this name that the term StormTroopers emerge as the troops are not there to shock, but to take by Storm whatever the Empire/Emperor demands. Interesting development from Luceno's part.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Would you give up collecting for a woman?

I would never let my hobby interfere with the relationship I have with my wife (almost 18 years now), period. My wife is my best friend, my lover, and helps me to maintain a balence in my life. Toys or relationships . . .  I'll take the relationship . . . . after I get done with tonights hunt . . .

Kinda of reminds me of the Man Song . . .

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases
« on: November 30, 2005, 02:12 AM »
Buzy evening. Put 6 Tactical Ops on layaway for fellow collectors. Put 6 sets of twins on layaway for fellow collectors. Bought 1 set of twins and had a fellow collector get me a set so I'm good to go on them.
Saw Collection 2 Wave 7 cases. Nice to see the Jedi back like Aayla, Plo, and Kit. Plenty of the Gree Coll. 1 wave in at one Wally (they had 30 cases).  So now I am done!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: So, Are You Happy with the Prequel Trilogy?
« on: November 29, 2005, 10:33 PM »
I enjoyed the prequels, and the entire saga.  That's why I collect those little toys.  However, Saving Private Ryan, Apollo 13, and movies like that they are not.  For me Star Wars is pure entertainment for escape and I enjoy it for that. I think I like the OT  because I grew up with them (12 in 1977 to 18 in 1983).  My 11 year old son loves the Prequels because he grew up with them.
Overall the prequels were okay, not great not good. To put it into a more pop culture term, "They are what they are" though they could have been so much more. That is where I agree that Lucas should have hired someone else to direct it.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Qui-Gon Jinn
« on: November 29, 2005, 10:18 PM »
In a non-typical move, Obi Wan secretly uses a force push on Anakin from one of the observation decks high up on one of the spirals of the Jedi Temple. Then Anakin falls to his death and we lose all the movies!

No, in reality, IF Qui Gon HAD LIVED (which could not have happen since it was the will of the force i.e. George Lucas, for Anakin to fall) Qui Gon would have tried to give Anakin the room to grow, but no matter who trained Anakin, he still would have failed with the Tuskens, Padme, and the choices he made because Anakin believed his own hype about being the chose one.

I think a better question is what would have happen to Obi Wan? I don't think he would have become the great jedi he became because he would not have had Anakin to push him.

I have to admit that for opening my ROTS I am guilty of not opening. I have 12 SA not opened (14 opened and I plan to buy 10 more for some customs). I have 13 Tactical Ops with 2 opened. I have 10 Shock Troopers with 5 opened. etc. That is just clones. On the other figures I have opened the figures I really wanted, and am waiting now for the week between Christmas and New Years (when I am off from teaching) and having an opening day when we open up all the figures.
Now, I have to say, my 11 year old son perhaps is more true to the belief that we should open when we get them because he does. I really should open as I find stuff because it really does save space, even if all I do is put them in baggies and put them in a tub til I can display them.

I have to vote for Mas Amedda and Grevious Exploding . . . .

I have not purchased either, though I think my son did pick up the exploding Grevious.

Debating on the Mas Amedda. Part of me wants to hide one and wait for Target to clearance their ROTS figures . . . .

Anyone give me a reason for purchasing the Mas Amedda? I am an opener and a non-completist.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: New $50 Multi-Pack at Wal-Mart
« on: November 28, 2005, 07:57 PM »
Walmart with Star Wars figures!? Sorry, the Wally's here have been dry for over a month now. I passed on looking in two Walmarts today for the twins because like, why would I do that?
I don't think a $50 multi-pack will bring me in either. Shame really. If you think about Walmart's strategy, to get people in and have them buy additional items they are losing that with me.  I will probably hunt at Wally's for the twins but that is all. After that I won't go out of my way to hunt at Walmart unless the new Saga hit there first.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Are Stormtroopers Clones?
« on: November 27, 2005, 10:29 AM »
Yep, Jude Watson makes it cannon!  Also, are there specific references to the Last of the Jedi books that you can provide as reference. I've read them with my son and never taken that away from the books, but then again, life has been hectic this fall.

Yep, I watch Star Wars for all the wonderful babes in it . . . .  ::)
BTW, Beru was alittle old for me in Episode IV. Carrie Fisher was just totally ugly back in ROTJ also.  But at least we had Padme!
