The Vintage Collection / Re: Recent Vintage Collection Purchases

I didn't actually buy anything at one Wal-Mart I visited last thurday, but I did rearrange all the Legends and Clone Wars pegs so that each one had an Obi-Wan figure of some sort in the front. HA! Take that, somebody! They still had at least one of that awful AOTC  or whatever Legends variant Obi-Wan there.  :-X

Years ago, I did the same with Darth Vaders.  >:D

I just got another email from them - Friday and Saturday all Legacy Collection Battle Packs will be 50% off with the coupon on the email.  The cool thing is in the email they have the Jabba the Hutt CW BP pictured - if I see that one shelves I would nab that for sure.

They do that with the print ads, too. Show Legacy battle packs that they likely won't have, such as Resurgence of the Jedi and Hoth Speeder Bike Patrol. The only ones I've seen in the past 2 years were Tatooine Ambush, Birth of Vader, Holocron Heist and Jedi vs. Sith (CW) . They keep having sales on them, but they never seem to go away.

Yeah, no way they'll ever "officially" replace the original puppet with a CGI version.  It'd be disrespectful to Stuart Freeborn, Frank Oz, and everybody else who helped bring him to life.

Send that arguement straight to Jeremy Bulloch or even Sebastian Shaw.

Bulloch never got axed, it was the guy who did Boba Fett's original voice, Jason Wingreen, that got replaced.

Army of the Republic Battle Pack for $17 at Wal-Mart. Which is cool...I guess....if I had a Costco and a membership to it...2 for $26.

Maybe the other Wal-Marts reduced their many Gelagrub Patrol sets...but I still wouldn't pay $17 for it...maybe $12 on a good day.

The RC Hailfire is reduced to $35, IIRC.

Yeah, but if we were real collectors, we would be supporting the Legends line and buying up all these great figures we already have dozens of.  Truly, the fault here lies with the collectors.

You already have dozens of the Spacetrooper? Lucky man!  ;)

Think how fun it will be if/when Vintage and Legends merge into one line...and cases, like some Clone Wars cases, contain nothing but reissued figures of main characters.

I won't debate Tartakovsky's style much, other than not caring for some of his character designs (I could same the same for the current Clone Wars, too) and the exaggeration of force powers. Some of his action scenes are quite cool. But  storywise, the only segment that mattered (besides the introduction of Grievous, which is muddled by the inconsitencies between CW and ROTS versions of the character), was the attack on Coruscant, that leads into ROTS (and was far better than the opening battle/rescue of ROTS that follows it...I'm definately giving Tartakovsky credit there.)

Anyone could argue that parts of Filoni's series don't matter much or don't mesh with the movies. I'd probably agree with them on some points.

Final note: Best thing about the micro-series is that they f-ing killed off Asajj Ventress without dragging that weak ass storyline way past its due. Filoni seems completely unable or unwilling to kill any villains in his series, just good guys. So as a result you have a whole universe of major league scumbags walking around that have somehow scattered into the woodwork prior to ROTS.

The microseries didn't kill Ventress off concretely enough for other folks not to reuse her.

Ventress and Durge were one-note disposable characters. It's only  Filoni's Clone Wars use of Ventress that makes her anything to me. Before that she was an EU baddie that as far real canon goes, might as well have never existed Durge was created to replace Jango, then offed immediately...dispite being harder to kill than most life forms (yeah, he came back in a comic book...I don't care).  Filler characters until Grievous comes along, only existing because we can't have the Jedi battling movie characters, that would mess with the flow of the next film (Oops...someone forgot to tell Filoni and Company...."I'm twice as powerful as when we last met, Dooku!"....."Ah, yes on Tatooine...no, I mean when were prisoners of those space pirates..."  :P)

Also the microseries' battle droid voices were better.

I'm wondering where the alternate Office Duel is from ROTS, the one where Anakin was there the whole time and Palpatine used Anakin's lightsaber. It was in the near-final cut of the film long enough that, IIRC, Lucas called the actors back for a reshoot.

Assuming those Sith and Villains are Vintage/Realistic and not Clone Wars packs. They'd either be one of the other.

I'd lean towards CW...they'd want to milk the new Savage Oppress sculpts...plus they could reissue Sidious...

They've denied the Royal Starship anyway.

Quote
Sadly, the Royal Starship and Emperor's Shuttle did not make the list.  But we think fans will be pleased with the line-up which includes a 100% newly tooled iconic vehicle.

BONGO SUB!! WOOO

Oh, yeah...that's right...it's the Naboo Fighter.

Finally got a Legends Spacetrooper....plastic seems a bit on the soft side. Why did they make him with a dent on his chest? Fun guy, anyway...might get more.

I like that the empty tray is there for the secret weapons...like they dediced to yank them late in the game.  :(

I'm vaguely intrigued by that vague pricing list.

I knew Naboo battle would be $30. If it includes 4 battle droids, a gungan, Tarpals and the Kaadu...not bad. Only 2 droids...wait for clearance.

To some folks the Tartakovsky series was the greatest thing since light-saber sliced white bread. I thought it had its moments, but was mostly brief snippets and in the big picture, as disposable as any EU stuff of its time.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: POTF2 Recent Purchases

I got a POTF stormtrooper for 25 cents couple months back and this weekend an R2 for 5 cents at yard sales. Lando for 50 cents, had his cape and I found a Dewback Sandtrooper rifle for him in the box he was in.

Also, an X-Wing missing the canopy and 3 laser guns for a buck. That and the landspeeder seem to be most common used finds as far as yard sale and flea markets go.

I found a Boil and AT-RT at Target (where had it been during clearance?) , it rang up 0.00 so I walked out of the store with it. Okay, I didn't try to buy it. Who knows could've been clearance, but probably not at this point.
