Watto's Junk Yard / Re: X-Men/Wolverine Movies

I'll remain hopeful, but there was an awful lot of dramatic brooding and standing around in place of action scenes.  Hopefully that's just an issue with the trailer, not with the actual movie.

Bryan Singer addressed this, it wasn't an artistic choice for the trailer. Final visual effects, such as the sentinels, aren't finished yet.

I'm glad that's the case. I was thinking they wanted to hide the villains for as long as possible, as so many other movies try to do these days. *cough*smaugkhanchitauri*cough*

I would like to see Hasbro go beyond accessories if they continue with the larger format style. An updated Wampa or Probe Droid, perhaps with just one figure instead of two, would be pretty cool. If the format sticks with large accessories I wouldn't mind seeing updated Ewok "drums", a repack of the Ewok Glider, and/or the Geonosian Sonic Cannon.

As for 2-packs, I really like the Hoth idea. If a computer terminal pack-in isn't feasible, some crates or a new heavy cannon would be cool. Other sets I'd like to see are:

Tantive IV: Stormtrooper and Fleet Trooper (updated with holster) in set one; Captain Antilles and Commander Praji in set two

Endor: two Rebel Commandos (one as an update of the POTF2 Jumpsuit guy) in set one; Imperials (either officers or dirty trooper repaints), Ewoks, or Mon Cal officers for set two

Tatooine: two Jawas and a droid of some sort (like the previous droid pack-ins) in set one; Sandtrooper variants, Sand People, or Mos Eisly denizens for set two

Clone Wars: some clone repaint sets (Waxer & Boil, ARC Trooper Echo & Fives, Boost & Sinker) done Sideshow style with Phase 1 & 2 helmets

The Vintage Collection / Re: Kmart Imperial Scanning Crew 2-Pack

Not a sniff of these, and they won't offer rainchecks on them (Oh how I tried).  Blah.  Like I say, they shipped last year's into December...  So we'll see.

I hit a couple stores yesterday and didn't find any Scanning Crews. The Ewok sets weren't overly plentiful, but they were available. I'm just glad the current sale lasts for about a month as opposed to just a week.

Good episode last night... I loved getting to see more of Tyrese. The fight with Rick was great, and the moment during the group's run was epic. Last week I didn't suspect Carol as the murderer, but I knew it was going to be her when she was present during the opening scene. It was an interesting choice for the story and definitely has me re-thinking the murders as possible mercy killings. It was still a very Shane-esque decision on Carol's part, and I look forward to seeing how Rick deals with it.

I think technically they aren't to be out even...  I think that's why the website has had issues.  They want them available for their toy book.  Similar to last year.

For what it's worth both stores near me added shelf tags for these and the Ewok sets earlier this week, but never stocked the Scanning Crew sets. Two cases of the Catapults at each store so far. I'm hoping stock for the 2-packs is just being held back for Sunday.

Jeff, I think the adjustment window is only around a week or so. Your best bet might be to buy new sets on sale, and return them with your original receipts.

Saga Legends / Re: Battle of Geonosis: Jedi Knights Battle Packs

I picked up one of each set at TRU this morning. I was surprised when the purchase total was around $40 short of what it should've been, but it turned out the cashier didn't scan a set so I told her. $80 plus tax was steep all at once, but it breaks down to the same as basic figure pricing.

I was really disappointed with the paint quality. The store had 3 of each set on the shelf, and I ended up picking the ones with the least flaws. Sloppy hairlines, misplaced eyes (like the Yoda mini-rig), and very messy clone helmets were significant issues I saw. I'm not 100% sure if I will be keeping these sets, but if I do hopefully the construction quality is better than the paint upon opening.

Middle Earth / Re: The Hobbit - Toy Line

Did anybody else see the Bridge Direct Facebook page?   I wonder if they calculated the nerd-rage from the fan boys when they got into the Action Figure business.

I don't know how to link it, but needles to say when they announced new product they got a lot of arm chair business experts telling the, to give up the license and that Lego is better....

Heh, every line has the arm-chair business nerds calling shots for the companies. Some posters on the Facebook page sure did go overboard. Honestly the fans shouldn't be surprised that only four new items are being released considering how much of series one is still sitting or went on clearance. However, I think the complaints about the company's poor communication and the exact products being released are justified. Obviously things shown at Toy Fair are subject to change depending on what retailers choose to purchase, but showing off items (4-inch Dwarves, Radagast, 6-inch Orcs) at Comic-Con with no plans to release seems like teasing in retrospect. There were also a couple of different press releases between Toy Fair and now featuring different products that weren't clarified until just a couple of days ago.

What if someone has a heart attack in the middle of the night?

That's just plain reality right there... and no one wants to see that.  The death has to be gruesome.  ;)

That's the point though.  If some guy has a stroke and dies in his sleep, he comes back as a zombie and starts ripping into people while they sleep. You're really not safe unless you're isolated from everyone else when you're asleep.  Surprised they haven't hit on this yet.

One would think they would just lock the cells (not necessarily using the prison locks, but chains with padlocks or something) at night to  avoid an incident like someone dying in their sleep. Between not having night watches and not locking the individual cells, the group must be EXTREMELY complacent at this point.

Kinda same here...  Incomplete, but I got everything super cheap at K-Mart (TRU was gouging so I refused to buy), and then I got Azog and Goblin King at TRU on clearance...  Good line, but lack of variety hurt.  Needed a carded and somewhat customizable Orc warrior in the basic line IMO.  Needed Bolg on his white warg.  Needed all the dwarves, not just a few, done in 2-packs.

Goblin King I'd have waited for a 2nd wave as a centerpiece...

A couple of army builders in the first wave would have been great, as well as a different Warg or two in the beast assortment. I think what we got would have been fine though if it there had been fewer formats. Single figures and beast packs would have been okay; no real need for the redundant 2-packs and 5-pack. Who knew a company could screw up a line worse than Hasbro?

Unlike the helicopters seen in Seasons 1 and 3, the one crashed on the roof was totally unrecognizable to me. Just a jumbled green CG-mess that barely looked like anything. Accuracy of equipment/weaponry shouldn't really matter though. IIRC the tank from Season 1 was a British model because they needed a hatch on the bottom, so there is precedent for going with whatever is convenient over accurate. Plus, zombie show yada yada. :D

Anyway, I thought the premier was pretty good. The "Big Spot" sequence was cool and I really liked what I saw of the new life at the prison. The subplot with Rick and Clara was strange; I enjoyed it, but at the same time it seemed forced and slightly out-of-place (like the bum in the cabin last season). I thought the disease was the best part though, and I am looking forward to seeing how it plays out... should be devastating for the prison group.

Lastly, was anyone surprised about the ratings for the premier? I was actually caught off-guard by the huge increase. I expected minimal or no growth after the disappointing Season 3 finale. Glad to see the show is still going strong and setting records though.

Damn, I will be very bummed if the remainder of the dwarves aren't released. I feel lack of variety and too much redundancy killed the line the first time around; I can't see anything BUT the exact same outcome this time around. Hopefully more products will make it out, but if not, I think I only have $50 tied up in the line at this point. It will feel like a very incomplete collection, but a cheap incomplete collection.

Tomorrow is truck day at my local TRU, so I will keep my eyes open for new Hobbit toys. I doubt they will have anything though, since they are still PACKED with Unexpected Journey stuff. I'm pretty sure I was the only person who bought stuff during their 50% off sale last month.
