The Legacy Collection / Re: SDCC'09 Exclusives
« on: July 6, 2009, 07:31 PM »
So who has the Luke figure? Hasbro Toy Shop or Star Wars Shop?

Either way, does this mean that I'll be able to order both SDCC exclusives from the same website and save a bit on over-priced shipping?  ;D

The Vintage Collection / Re: Hasbro Q&A Sessions
« on: July 6, 2009, 07:30 PM »
I noticed in the Q and A over at SSG this week, Hasbro basically said that the AOTC wave might be a tough find at retail.  They mentioned that it was a shorter run since it was the last wave of the blue/white packaging, and that if people want to make sure they get it, they might want to head online.  I haven't seen this wave at all at retail (or the ESB wave for that matter), but got what I needed online so it isn't a big deal to me I guess - but it does stink when the last wave gets "left behind" like this.

While I admit that I'm too lazy to go find it, I'm pretty sure that Hasbro has stated this before with regards to the AOTC wave.

It was the reason I ordered this wave by the case from Entertainment Earth - it felt better having the Blue/White Legacy Collection figures out of the way as opposed to sweating it out whether or not my local stores would even get in a case AND I'd be lucky enough to be the one collector to find it.

I've been playing the PSP version of the game. It's not the best game I've ever played, but it's not horrible either.

Is it as good as the PSP version of The Force Unleashed? Nope. But it's A LOT better than the PSP exclusive game Star Wars: Lethal Alliance.

The story was pretty good, which is a plus.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: CW Deluxe Figure & Vehicle Line
« on: July 3, 2009, 11:56 AM »
I think the PURPOSELY put these in window boxes instead of on cards so they can make them look "bigger" and charge more for them.

These things should be $10.99 - $12.99

The thing is that this line doesn't have a truly new sculpt coming AT ALL:

Anakin w/Can-cell - repacked figure w/repacked creature

Battle Droid w/Armored Scout Tank - repacked figure w/repacked mini-rig

Clone Trooper with BARC Speeder - back in July we got a two-pack of these for $19, now one alone costs $18?!?!

Crab Droid - repack

Jet Pack Clones 2-pack - slightly re-tooled Clone Wars Clones w/the JetPacks from the ROTS deluxe figure

Turbo Tank Gunners - two repacked Clone Troopers w/Guns that were probably originally intended to come with the Turbo Tank!

Count Dooku w/Speeder Bike - well the Speeder Bike is the same one from the AOTC line, the figure is a slightly retooled Animated Dooku with articulated legs and soft-goods -- this one is the closest thing to something "new" in the entire line and that's a stretch.

Well of the Souls / Re: Ticket to Adventure Mail-Away Offers
« on: June 30, 2009, 05:13 PM »
Yeah - it just occurred to me that the date was June 10th and it's now 20 days later.

So now what gives? I think I might go to Hasbro's website and update my original question from two months ago and ask what's going on...

The Legacy Collection / Re: Card Size?
« on: June 30, 2009, 04:58 PM »
I thought quite the opposite Pete.  Very easy trying to find the figures IMO especially with the large character pics compared to blah of Legacy/Legends.  Not really a fan of the new card size (even though we're likely never to get nice accessories or two packs again)

Perhaps it was limited just to my situation - the store where I found them had packed the peg hooks very close together so you couldn't really tilt a figure to one side or the other to see what figure was behind it.

Aren't they going to be different colors?  There's Red for CW, Black for Legacy, and Orange for Legends.

Well, I picked up the first twelve Saga Legends figures today and I would consider the color on them more of a "rust" color, but "orange" is also close enough.

If they stick with that, it should be easier to just scan the top of the cards to see what's on the pegs...

You would think that, and perhaps it was due to how closely the pegs were, but I had a very had time trying to find the figure I was looking for as I browsed what was on the pegs looking for a MOMC specimen for each of the 12 figures. I had to tilt the entire peg towards my left side so that I could see down the right-side and look at the pictures of the characters in order to see if the character I needed was on that peg.

Also the hook is a tad small so removing a figure at the back of the peg was a bit difficult and it felt like I was going to bend the J-hook as I removed the figure from the peg.

I do think the packaging looks nice, but if you're a MOMC collector, you're in for a really difficult time with these cards.

Got my two cases of the AOTC wave so I  *think* I'm done with the Legacy collection Blue/White figures.

I also picked up the first twelve Saga Legends figures in the 2009 packaging (smaller cards, white/orange design) at a local store.

Does anyone know if the Saga Legends Han Solo and Chewbacca figures were ever released on the Blue/White cardback or are they only coming out in the 2009 packaging?

However, I won't be convinced that this is anything more than greed for the pricepoint of this ship.

I agree with Sal here - when a ship like the ARC-170 ends up in Black and in the same assortment at the same price and it originally came out in 2005 for $29.99 and then in 2007 for $29.99 as a Target exclusive and then in 2008 we got it again for $44.99 as a TRU exclusive and then in 2009 for $74.99 is nothing more than GREED.

So even if you want to say the overall price for manufacturing has gone up, that means that if the ARC-170 = the Y-Wing in Hasbro's mind (i.e. in the same assortment) then this assortment shouldn't be a penny more than $49.99.

It just shouldn't. (and in my mind letting them mark it up by $5 compared to the 2008 exclusive price is being overly generous)

For me it really comes down to how many more times is Hasbro going to expect me to buy this vehicle?

For example, if the AT-TE only comes out once and they wanted $100 for it then fine. I'm okay with that.

But I'm willing to bet that they are trying to convince a retailer somewhere to take a "Shadow" AT-TE as an exclusive. Which means the same toy with a new paint-op will be 1.5x the price it was before.

Now sure, I could pass on it, but after 15 years of having everything, is that really an option? Nope.

Same goes with the Y-Wing, are they going to repaint the heck out of this just like they did with the Jedi Starfighters? I sure as heck hope not, but looking at what's going on with the ARC-170, I would have never thought that four years after it's initial release it would be going for almost DOUBLE what it originally came out for as part of the same assortment that the Y-Wing is in.

I'm sorry, but the smaller vehicles are $20 - $25, Hasbro SHOULD be finding a way to have these double-size vehicles be $50 - $60 -- crossing the $70 mark is just asking for trouble.

I think a lot of retailers are going to SIT on these due to the price. Look at the B-Wing exclusive to TRU, are you telling me that just because it isn't "Clone Wars" it's not selling? That's b.s. TRU has clearanced it down to $30 and it STILL isn't moving. What makes Hasbro think $70 vehicles are going to move?

I think we'll get the Y-Wing and the Shadow ARC-170 and this assortment line will be done.

2472
What scares me is $75 for this release and then a myriad of repaints for $100 - $150 each.

Picked up an opener Magnaguard Fighter, a MIB Magnaguard Fighter and a MIB Vulture Droid today.

The Magnaguard Fighter is fantastic!

It seems that there are two different metallic "tints" to U-3PO - one that is "silver" and one that has a "champange" like coloring.

There are pictures here: http://threads.rebelscum.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=3737092&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=93&vc=1

But I have both versions of U-3PO and can confirm that there is a visible difference between the two versions.

If they ship it in a non-Window box then yeah, I think it will end up in the expensive vehicle line.

If they put it in the exact same packaging they've been using since the OTC release then it will be an exclusive.
