Not playing anything at the moment but will be picking up Fable for Xbox later this week and then very possibly SW Battlefront the week after.

I think ordering a case online is probably the best way to go, pricewise. With tax, it cost me $13.83 for one booster yesterday. But I just ordered a case from one of the links that Matt had listed earlier in this thread (usacomicbooks) and the price per booster, shipping included, will come to about $8.70 each. A significant savings. I ordered it lastnight, it shipped today and I hope to have it by midweek. There might be cheaper alternatives online but some may be out of stock. This place still had them as of late evening lastnight.

I kind of wondered that about the separately packed cards as well. My theory is, that if these are all hand painted, then certainly they could be hand packed into the box randomly, with the matching cards and then they just run those thru a machine that seals the cards up and throw them in the box with the minis. I've been reading that distribution on these has been pretty good, which I wouldn't think would be the case if you opened up a booster pack and got the exact same 7 minis as another booster pack that you've opened before.

So why is this just now, after the season has already started, becoming a topic of discussion? We've known for at least 3 weeks what the rules were, what the roster size was and what a starting lineup was going to consist of, so why bring it up now?

Quote
Sure it might have effected some people's drafting order

And there lies the reason as to why I'm not crazy about a major rule change such as this, after the draft. I personally don't have a problem if it were to be added, but it just doesn't seem fair to those who used their first 8 draft spots to fill in their starting roster. Outside of a couple DEFs and Ks, there is no reason to be drafting a DEF or K before filling in that flex position with another top RB or WR and that would put those people at a disadvantage who's drafting strategy was to fill in their starting 8 before drafting bench players.

BTW, the case that I ordered came from Outfitters, which is shipping out of Minnesota...  Not sure if they've actually got a retail place set up out there somewhere, but it may be worth finding out, since their Booster cases were only $92.50 (second cheapest around, but cheapest anywhere with shipping factored in).  I'll see if I can dig up their link for you to check an address on...  Back in a flash!

OK, here ya' go:

Gameoutfitter

Anywhere near you?

EDIT:  Crap.  Looks like they finally just sold out...   :-\

Not really that close to me. Probably about 3+ hrs away.

I did go ahead and ordered a case from one of the other links you had listed in this thread. Price, with shipping, came to about $9 a pack. Not too bad considering I just spent about $13.85 on the 1 booster I bought. If they ship it out on Monday, I should have it by mid to end of next week.

Well, I just picked up my first boxes of these. Got a starter set and just one booster, for now. Here's what I got:

Starter set
#21 Darth Vader - Dark Jedi - R
#10 Luke Skywalker - Rebel - R
#38 Stormtrooper - C
#35 Snowtrooper - C
#23 Elite Snowtrooper - U
#8 Hoth Trooper - C
#16 Rebel Officer - U
#6 Elite Rebel Trooper - C
#41 Bespin Guard - C
#51 Jawa - C

Booster pack
#38 Stormtrooper - C
#8 Hoth Trooper - C
#33 Scout Trooper - U
#20 Wookie Soldier - C (no spear on mine either)
#57 Tusken Raider - C
#16 Rebel Officer - U
and the biggie...
#34 Scout Trooper on speeder bike - VR

Not too bad I guess, except for already having 3 dups out of just buying 2 boxes. But I guess the VR fig makes up for that. Think I'll have to order me a case of the boosters now too.

How would adding a flex/utility position detract from someone's draft strategy and/or help 1 team specifically if every one of us was so focused on getting quality picks and sleepers in the late rounds?

Well, I think if we were going with that extra flex position from the start, some people may have held off a round or two in picking up their K or defense (for those that filled out their starting roster before any bench players), while instead picking up another RB or WR to fill that flex spot.

So you could be talking about someone now having to fill in a player they took in the mid to late rounds for the flex spot, instead of using say, a 5th or 6th round pick, where they took a K or DEF instead, and that is probably a pretty big difference in quality of player.

Quite frankly, I would be all for using a flex spot due the fact that I think my bench is pretty deep (I would have used Branch this week had it been implemented) but don't necessarily think it's fair to everyone to make that kind of change after the draft, and actually after the season, has already started.

I think it's too late to incorporate a flex player anyway. Season kicks off in what, an hour? Far too late to add in that position when players may not even be able to make an adustment to their lineup in time.

Really?!  If that's the case, I'm gonna be way pissed off.  That's pretty much the only reason I ordered a full case.  I've read in a couple places that each Booster set was supposed to have one Rare or Very Rare figure in it...

I think you should be safe. I've seen many case breakdowns posted and everyone of them produced 4 VR and 8 R figs, with no dups among the hard to find ones in a given case. Seems distribution of the figs is pretty good overall.

There is not a rare or very rare in each booster box.  The first 2 I bought had only commons and uncommons.

Sounds like you might have had some real bad luck with yours. Because everything I've been reading about them, which includes a lot of people posting what their booster breakdown was, shows that they've been getting either 1 rare or very rare in every booster box.

I'm sure some mistakes will be made at the packing plant, making it possible that some slipped thru with an extra common or uncommon instead of the R or VR fig, but I'm thinking the norm is one R or VR fig per box.

Yep, I've already read about that too. Doesn't concern me too much for when I pick some up at a store, as I want them all anyway. Makes you wonder if cherry pickers will go after all the heavy ones, or leave all the heavy ones behind trying to get a Fett instead.

Jokabofe is right. From what I've been reading, the graphics on the box mean nothing as far as what the contents are. All booster packs contain the same random mix from the pool of 58 figures, as opposed to each of the respected factions.

The stats I've seen on the breakdowns for the sets so far is this:

Starter set - 2 exclusives (Vader & Luke) plus 8 randoms, made up of 6 commons and 2 uncommons.

Booster set - 7 figures, made up of 4 common, 2 uncommon, and 1 rare or very rare.

That is exactly what I've been reading too at other message boards from people who have busted several cases of these already.

My question, if those are true, is - is there any reason to buy more than just the 1 Starter set?  Get your exclusive Vader and Luke (which I think is assured in each set), and then move back over to the Boosters...?  Doesn't seem to be the potential of any rare or super rares in the Starter sets from what I can tell...

I don't think there is any reason at all to buy more than one starter set, unless you want an extra set of playing tiles or something. Sounds like the best way to go is 1 starter set and then lots of booster packs and a good trading network, which I hope we can get one going here. If I can find them in stores around here, I plan on buying some later this week.

Regarding the prices on ebay, like everything else when it's first released, such as sports cards, they always go for insane prices right away because you have all those impatient people who can't wait and bid these things up. Give it a month and let's see if Fett is still going for $40 or $50+. While I agree the very rare figs will probably still fetch a fair amount (like double digits), with certain figs like a Fett getting more, I don't see them going for anywhere what they do now.

In the coming weeks, I could see ebay being flooded with these. Now that people are seeing the prices, you're going to have people buying up cases for the sole reason of listing all the rare and very rare figs on ebay, hoping to turn a profit on them. Next thing you know, there will be 100s of each fig there. Soon supply will catch up with demand like with every other new product when it first hits.

The rares and very rares might be going for quite a bit now on ebay but that's because they just hit and impatient people are driving up the prices. Give it a few more weeks and you should start seeing them drop in price, hopefully.

It's hard to believe that they are even fetching that much. Rares for nearly the cost of a booster pack? Very rares for almost 2-3 times the cost of a booster pack? Aren't you quaranteed 1 rare or very rare in each booster? That shouldn't make any particular figure extremely HTF.

I'd give it a month and wouldn't be surprised to see that most, if not all, prices on ebay have dropped to half or more of what they're going for now.
