Other Collectibles / Re: The "Official" Master Replicas Thread
« on: January 25, 2006, 08:56 PM »
Hmmmm....I've seen the Y-Wing pics before, but not the close up detail.

Perhaps they're posting teaser pictures because it's changed since the convention they showed it at?

You know, I thought of this thread yesterday when I saw the Chris Penn thread over there.

Everyone's talking Resevoir Dogs, but I think my favorite Chris Penn moments were from Rush Hour.  "I don't know what that thing is"  "I don't want it".   ;D

I saw that movie in the theaters and don't think I'd buy it, even for 7.99.  I've already spent too much on it.   ;D

By the way, Cory...LONG time no see!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The Great 2006 Collector's Challenge
« on: January 25, 2006, 03:24 PM »
I'm keeping my totals again this year.  It's gone from a "challenge" to a real tradition.  The only difference is, I'm going to add descriptions of everything I buy and why I bought it.  I started that midway last year, but I used to just put in stores and amounts.

 ;D

I could have one of yours....I just decided I wasn't going to open the toys until I sent mine out.    ;D

Mr. Pibb + Red Vines = Crazy Delicious!

Have any of you guys ordered with AFX?  I am waitlisted for Luke (didn't decide I wanted him until I got the Kit Fisto pre-order) so I'm wondering how reliable AFX would be on these things.  Is it just a "chance" at one, or does ordering it pretty much guarantee me one?

Do they take money now, or when it's in?

I HAVE received my package, but won't open the goodies until I send a package out to my special someone.

Why haven't I done that yet?  Sheer laziness.  Back around Christmas, I had a trade with a local collector going to get one of the things I wanted to send my recipient, but then he went on break, and when he got back I had forgotten about it.  I simply have yet to drive over to West Seattle and actually pick the stuff up.

I've just decided I'm going to do that within the next two days, and get the package out before I become his secret Valentine.  Then I'll open my own stuff, which is still waiting for me.....   ;D

Caffeinated slushy?  Sounds like a little piece of heaven to me.

Oh, it was. That weekend was really hot, but it's a video game convention, and so that means lots of sweaty, stinky guys and gals regardless of the weather.

They set up the "Sno-Bawls" machine next to all the DDR games, and that meant when you were done having a match of DDR, you could get a refreshing pick me up.   ;D

I've been to Penny Arcade Expo the last couple of years in a row, and Bawls is the "official" drink of that convention. The first year, they were giving it out for free and selling cases, this year....they were giving out "sno-bawls" (basically a caffeinated slushy).

So, wondering if maybe this beverage was from the same people,  I clicked on the link to the actual beverage, and it took me to some bikini site.

Hmmmm.

That night Dale/myself/Matt were on and Dale (doing his job) quickly canned MattKattNadam for being a peckerhead.

I was actually curious about this.  I figured Matt would have been over here responding to all the baiting by now, but I wonder if he will.  Afterall, the "banhammer" is basically dangling over his head.

It's sort of like the kids that go over to RS and say something KNOWING it's about to get them banned.  I've never seen the merit in that....or wanted to do it myself.  Maybe this is a rare instance of Matt showing some restraint?

I know if I were him and a bunch of guys were talking crap about me on a site they basically control....it would suck, because I'd know the second I got to them, they could just ban me.  Or edit my posts.  ;D

Gentle Giant / Re: Bust Ups!
« on: January 20, 2006, 06:53 PM »
Mine is supposedly on the way...and I'm sure tons of people ordered these Ice bust ups.  If there's a fire version out there, I'm sure we'll hear about it soon.

They should be the ones implementing some type of control over the ordering process so that only their members can place orders for the first several days or so.  You should just have to log in with a Collector's Society account to place an order, or something to that effect.

Yeah, me too.  I think it's their responsibility to make this run smoother than they do....but as someone who got screwed out of their last exclusive thanks to StarWarsShop (I just caved and finally paid double retail on Ebay)......I guess it just sucked to see the links plastered everywhere yesterday before I'm sure lots of members got to get theirs.  Myself and a few others had this debate on RS and I just brought the question over here to see how JD feels about posting private collector's links for all to see.

More inquisitive than anything else.

I should note that this also isn't me being selfishness (Mine's already on the way) as much as it's just me trying to protect someone who might be a member, but stuck at work with no email or something.  I'd love for those guys to be able to get home and get one over some random guy that sees "Hot, limited exclusive!" and buys it just to resell it.

What's done is done....and I still think the news itself is great to share.  No offense towards anyone who benefitted from this particular newsflash....just curious if it's the policy to go on sharing this type of stuff.

I saw this on Joystiq today.  It's especially hilarious because I remember wanting tons of stuff from this catalog back when it came out.  Enjoy.
